    OAO 12/3 TNA Impact! Thread

I thought that was hilarious...monkey is always a failsafe insult.

    DDP Sues Jay-Z

I agree on paper. In practise, I hate Jay-Z, so DDP gets my support.

    NHL Thread

He had a broken leg and came back recently. We play Montreal tomorrow night so I think Andy Murray wants to keep Luc rested for his last hurrah in Montreal. It's not official that it's his last season, but I'm pretty sure it is. I want to see Luc raise the Cup in a Kings uniform as he's my favorite player. I'm pretty sure that Ottawa and Chicago are the 2 toughest teams in the NHL but I think that the toughness of other teams leads to more physical play, which leads to a more even balance of scoring chances for both teams. As long as Hasek stands on his head this shouldn't be a problem. The link doesn't work, so I'll just say he must really hate Bryan Murray. In all my time as a Kings fan I've never seen him get so animated and angry during a telecast. He usually doesn't venture to homerism as compared to other announcers, so this was definitely surprising to see from him. I'd be great for Lucky to get a nice send-off in his hometown tonight. But I'm still desparate to see the Habs win. This is their best chance in a while, with the Kings on back to back nights, 2000 miles from home, after a ridiculously physical game last night. Intersting odds on the Flames tonight, who have lost 6 of their last 8 in Steeltown. Mind you, six of their last eight in Pittsburgh could easy include the pre Iginla era, and a Jagr-Mario-Kovalev-Straka lineup.

    Interesting debate from Ottawa

I think that's a totally different thing. I always say "Happy Holidays", which to me is just shorthand for "Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/enjoy whatever it is you celebrate - and a happy new year". Exactly! I've always said Happy Holidays, which could include Christmas, New Year's, or what have you. Could an African-American not celebrate both Christmas and Kwanzaa?

    If you were Wayne Gretzky

With all the great talent to be had, I'm thinking we can assemble a mock Team Canada: Submit, until November 25, your 3 goaltending picks. Feel free to edit as you like until the deadline, but please mark who you've edited. For example: Brodeur, Turco, Cloutier Edit:Brodeur, Luongo, Belfour ---- Between the 25th of Nov and December 7, we'll do defencemen, and Dec. 8-18 for forwards.(Dates are tentative, I can't quite recall when the team will be announced.) Submit your 1-2-3 picks, respectively, I'll tally up and when the time comes, we'll compare our collective SMARKS team to Gretky and co's. Remember, this is a fantasy draft, not "who you think Gretzk" will pick. Non-Canadians, are, of course, inferio..er, more than welcome to compete. Debate away and have fun. ------------ 1) Roberto Luongo 2) Martin Brodeur 3) Jose Theodore Quite frankly, Luongo and Brodeur are locks IMO, regardless of Brodeur's iffy year. It's a battle between 7 or 8 others for the easiest gold medal in Olympic history EDIT: 1) Brodeur 2) Theodore 3) Curtis Joseph A great conversation on Coach's Corner last night: DC: Cujo's makin 35 saves a night! He's the best goalie in the league right now! RM: Well, what about Hasek? DC: Hasek makes 35 saves every 3 games. It's Cujo. Welcome back to the Olympics! I agree. Even with his flop in Salt Lake, he's been brilliant on what can be considered a game thats fairly like Olympic hockey right now. He's goin to Turin, says I.

There's, I swear to God, an item at the Nascar Cafe called the Dick Trickle Burger.

Thats a criterium to play on the Habs. Thibault, to be fair, isn't usually this bad.

    If you were Wayne Gretzky

The smarks have spoken. Brodeur, Luongo and Legace are your goalie choices. Interestingly, no votes for Cam Ward and Andrew Rycroft who were named to the orientation. Votes for Legace, who was not named. Please post your top 7, in order of top pairing/chemistry. My picks: Redden-Regehr Niedermayer-Blake Jovanovski-McCabe Hannan We'll tally votes on, December 6. Forwards will be the hardest, so we'll give them an extra two or three days.

    The NHL Thread

Rejean Houle musrt have secretly taken GM duties overagain for the Habs. While I'm no GM, it seems to me that if your top 1, 2 and 4 defenceman are out, should you really be giving away a promising defenceman? Some pretty good names up for grabs too, actually, in MacEachern, Huselius, Yakubov and Thibault.

    Oh, Canada

You'll also recall there's been absolutely no chance for the Libs to govern. It's been god damned sponsorship namecalling, attempted non-confidence votes, and one squabble after another. I'd have liked to have seen at least some kind of activity before an election was forced.

The OAO RAW Thread - Nov/28th/05

Hey, I like that idea. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me too. This would be a water-cooler RAW happening. When's the last time that happened in a good way? I really don't see Bischoff leaving, and certainly not Shane-O taking over Raw. Don't ask me why.

    NFL Week Twelve

They don't exactly have an easy schedule. San Diego, Jacksonville and Seattle? Nothing's for sure. Tennessee and Arizona, they shouldn't have any trouble with, but you'll recall, as Al Michaels did, that a sub 500 team knocked off 14-0 Denver in 98.

    The death of owen hart...

I won't lie, when it first happened, I was a 14 year old mark. I blamed Vince. Now, while I do feel he could have handled it differently, and think it could have been prevented, he's not to blame.
  15. CanadianGuitarist

    Oh, Canada

It's basically what they had last time, too. And Martin's been cleared, now.
  16. CanadianGuitarist

    Oh, Canada

I don't see the Tories taking 100 seats. What you tell a pollster and what you actually vote are hugely different. I realise that works on both sides of the spectrum, but when push comes to shove, Harper is the least trustable and least likeable candidate. Also, and I'm trying to do this as open mindedly as possible: Why should I vote for the Tories? -Tax cuts? -Lower gas prices? -Better fiscal managment? -"We're not the Liberals?" The Grits have pledged tax cuts, gas is the lowest it's been in 6 months, there have been 9 straight surplusses. As for we're not the Libs, why would I change my vote because of what that dumbass Chretien? Martin is a trustable leader and they represent my ideals.

kkk NFL pick 'em Week 12

I was pretty worried about a 26-23 score, give or take. You hit the nail on the head.
  18. CanadianGuitarist

    Oh, Canada

Liberal Minority. 135 or so for the Grits, 70 a piece for the Blocs and Conersvatives and 30 for the NDP, all give or take. A few more Bloc seats and NDP seats. A few less PC seats. About the same Liberals. And roughly the exact same fucking thing we saw last June. God damned waste of time.

    If you were Wayne Gretzky

Alright, I'm sandwiched between both jobs today, and am just on my lucnh break now. Check around 11 eastern tonight(basically halftime during the Colts-Steelers) for the defensive candidates and the SMARKS Team Canada Goalie Line-up.

    NFL Week Twelve

I'll agree with Cannon...it's pretty ballsy to call Jacksonville, even at 8-3, as a great team. Don't get me wrong, they're no push-over, but who have they beat their last four: Cardinals, Titans, Ravens, Texans.

kkk NFL pick 'em Week 12

By the skin o' my teeth, I'm still tied, and need an Indy win tonight. Cower, however, is 6-0 lifetime vs. the Colts.

Impressive. So, which NFC team gets whipped by 30 by the Colts in February. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, let's see if the Colts can finally make it to Feb. first buddy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If they're ever gonna do it, it's now, with New England being a 9-7 looking team. It's also time to change your avatar, Cannon. Indy, tho, is still the team to beat in the AFC, hands down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> MY av is just in time for the next upcoming season with Delgado. Leave it alone. They gotta get past Pitt, Cincy, and Denver <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fair enough. And thanks again for letting me hack it in July, before Halladay got hurt and the Jays went down faster than Jenne Jameson in the 36DD Titanic. Pitts, Cincy and Denver? Worthy yes, and it won't be easy, but I'm still saying Indy is the team to beat in the AFC. Anyone see the fan in Landover with Redskin contact lenses?

    Grey Cup

A RIDICULOUS first play ont he final drive. Cavillo's pass gets blocked, but he re-caught it, bombed it 40 yards to a wide-open receiver(and I do mean WIDE OPEN). He drops it. To salt the wound, a 15 yard penalty, and that's that. Eskies win 38-35.

Lead singer of KoRn commits suicide?

There's semi-egg on my face for this, but I really had no idea Morita died Friday. I honestly thought he'd been long gone before that. I mean, the first time I saw Karate Kid, I thought he was 80 years old.
