Why the hell does Canada love Hogan?
CanadianGuitarist replied to caboose's topic in General Wrestling
There have been three 5 minute standing ovations in the history of Bell Centre/Molson Centre/Montreal Forum 1) Saku Koiv'us return after cancer. 2) Maurice Richard when the Forum closed. 3) Hogan after WMXVIII. There's no debate how big he is and what he did for wrestling. I don't like him, but I'm in the minority. Plus, we generally dislike HBK, with whom he's fueding. Law of averages.... -
I renege. Arnold Palmer wore a shirt like that frequently. And he's, to me, on the same scale as Hart.

I've always thought at Steel Cage to be the most effective to end a feud, especially among main eventers, it's a great 'this is the most brutal, bloody way to end this'. It, IMO, has more story telling that the spot fests that are HITC.

Tiger two shots beyond the cut line? Mickelson at eight under? What's going on here?
-
You know why he stopped writing books? Because, he masturbates!

I'm saying Edge wins. Lita lowblows or briefcase hits Matt, allowing Edge to get the win, but Lita gets beat up by Matt afterwards. Hogan, Cena, Batista, Orton, Rey and Benoit are my other picks.

Fuck you all. It's awesome. But I'd never wear it.

The 92 and 97 Rumbles were perfect examples of the 'anyone can win' factor. Maven eliminating the Undertaker in 2002 was also awesome.

Fuel cells?

IIRC, it was indeed a title match, which Vinny Mac won somehow, and immediately forfeited. As for the Owen question, the last I remember winning was against Hunterdust in February 98.

Its not like he's won 2 US Open's or anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that's true, but, look at his major record otherwise: 2001: Freakin stumbled into the playoff that he, yeah, did win. Missed that putt from what, a dick's length? Also, was five shots down after four holes in said playoff. If it had been any other major playoff, he wouldn't have one. 2002 Masters: Leads after Friday and Saturday. Does nothing on Sunday to shoot a 74. 2005 US Open: Eighty fucking one on Sunday. You do have a point, but ultimately, I think he's still a little shaky in the big ones. -
And there's something relieving about seeing Dennis Beyak on the Score again.

I'm drunk, but I swore it just said on the ticker on The Score that Edmonton signed Brewer. Team Canada's orientation camp opens up. I'd love to see a Morisson and Bertuzzi line centred by a sniper, a St. Louis, Tanguay, Lecavalier, maybe even a Heatley, despite a poor Worlds. I really can't see anyone beating Canada in 2006. The 2004 World Cup roster was probably the best Team Canada on paper ever, and that was without Heatley and Bertuzzi.

Back on topic, who, if anyone, has a shot at the career slam? I think Els will become our generation's Greg Norman. We'll remeber him as successful, but ultimately coming up short a few times. Weir, Furyk andCampbell? Nah. Goosen? Maybe, but he still needs to learn how to win a major, IMO. Hamilton,Micheel, Curtis and Beem? Nope. Probably not Mickelson, he's got a shabby record at the British and is too erratic with the driver for the U.S. Singh, however, I like the odds for. -
I never did see WW3. What exactly happened at the end, did they just move all 3 winners into one ring or someting?
-
Boy, did I choose the right time to stumble upon this thread. While I do agree with the previously mentioned ideals of "become Canadian with our liberalized ideas" and "stop this thread", we're not about assimilation. But as long as we're not being serious: Carlton Banks > Theo Huxtable > Eddie Winslow. Also, the twins from Sister Sister were hotter than any combination of Thelma Hopkins, Laura Winslow(Kellie Cheymagne?) and Karyn Parsons. Plus, as porn has taught me, twin sisters lead to 3 way sex.

I never truly liked Hogan. Yet, I still mark out. In fact, I immeditaly got guitar tabs for it upon hearing it tonite, just because he really did so much for wrestling. And my hatred of HBK is making me a Hogan mark.

Yeah, even I can't listen to it on the radio. It's a nice idea, but it's not the same. No links, no actual reference to a paper whatsoever...It sounded sarcastic. And since I didn't call you any names, go back to watching midgets piss on one another. -

Shut up. -
Stairway to Hell never got enough respect, but Royal Rumble is by far my favourite. What was said about the possibility of an I Quit being great storytelling, that was excatly right. Not so much a Battle Royal, the anticipation of Royal Rumble is what makes it so great.

Chris Jericho's WWF debut
CanadianGuitarist replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in General Wrestling
RedBaron has it on his kazaa, it's definitely availble. I wasn't part of the IWC at that point, I marked the eff out when it said Jericho on the screen. Indeed, a great moment in the past 10 years or so of wrestling. -
How much longer for Eric Bischoff?
CanadianGuitarist replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
I was thinking about this at work today actually. Even a trade for Long during the lottery would have been something. He's done all he can do on Raw, his character is indeed stale, but he still does get heat, so maybe a shake-up some how. -
My first instinct was Run DMC. If I can get away with calling them Rap Rock, then they get my vote. I mean, they're clearly more talented than anyone from that list(Which isn't to sell anyone short).

Story? I missed it this morning. Jim Nantz, mind you, is responsible for some of my favourite sports calls ever, and probably the best host on television today.
