Things that seemingly everyone hated
CanadianGuitarist replied to Gary Floyd's topic in General Wrestling
My buddy Matt and Chris, along with Chris' girlfriend Korren were watcing the 1992 Rumble on the Best of Flair DVD. IRS coming to the ring prompted Matt to give the Write-Off to Korren. I'm not kidding. He also tells me daily to expect a best of IRS DVD set. I'm hoping for a Best of Berzerker. Oh man, did I mark out over seeing him for the first time in years. Chris also loves Viscera. I thought I was the only one. -

Definitely. I had no business marking out when the wall of fire hit. But I did. I loved it. Me too. The ridiculously annoying laugh of Brian Christopher, pre Grand Masta Sexy, was great. -
I thought I was the only one who noticed the striking resemblance between Clemens and the Undertaker. Yep.

While I'm on it, what is Patriot's Day? Some 9-11 spawned day?

If you want to see how to NOT address a problem

Waste. The point about the plushness of it attracting homeless into job shelters is valid, but you could have easily done, say 7 million for the shleter and 10 million for low income housing. -
He wins.

Roddy Piper - Yes One of, I feel, the 8 or 10 most hated heels of all time. Definitely Paul Orndorff - No Just never saw him as a legit threat. Bam-Bam Bigelow - No Same thing. Only time I feel it was feasible woul dhave been as a challenger to Diesel, but LT killed that, as has been mentioned a few times. Even if he did beat LT, I feel he would have been fed to Diesel at best, and rightly so. Ted DiBiase - Yes. Yes. No debate. Next question. Rick Rude - Yes Yep. Had a great match with Warrior at SS 90, and was a great IC champ. Mr Perfect - Yes. Definitely. One of the 10 best wrestlers I've ever seen, in both psychology, in ring performance and work rate. Had a great manager in Bobby Heenan. Razor Ramon - No Upper mid card at best. Did a great job as IC champ. Lex Luger - Yes As much as I hate him(and am a Bret Hart mark) it seemed to just make sense to have him beat Yoko in the summer of 93, maybe even at SSeries 93. Could have still jobbed to Yoko or Bret to have Bret get the strap at WM10 if that was in the works from the beginning, but I just feel it would have made sense with the way the pushed him in 93. British Bulldog - No Someone referred to him as a stop gap challenger. That about says it. He was a great IC and upper mid carder, and had a good feud with HBK in the summer of 96. But HBK was the only champ I could plausibly see him beating. Owen Hart - No Hate to say it, but nope. Maybe after SSeries 97, when he was the Lone Wolf, if Tyson Austin had panned out, but Austin clearly turned the company around. As such, they were right to give him the belt, and not Owen. Vader - Yes Forget the Diva search or the Invasion. This is where the WWF dropped the ball. Im always a mark for a monster heel, especially as a world champion/contender. See Yokozuna or Andre for proof. Could have been champ no problem. Having Cornette and a semi stable with Owen and the Bulldog only helped. Ken Shamrock - No I can't see him winning anything more than the IC title. His snapping, I feel, before he stepped into the ring, was just too goofy, I say. Rob Van Dam - Nope Same as Orndorff, I just can't see him with the strap. Good for the IC division though. Even in ECW, I always thought he was perfect for the TV title and not the World. Booker T - Yes Yep. Entertaining matches, good work rate, good heat. He wasn't 5 time, 5 time, 5 time, 5 time, 5 time for nothing. Edge - Yes. I genuinely feel he's ready for it. Good gimmick now, in my mind, and I truly can see him as a champ. Has to be this gimmick though. The tortured soul or with The Brood, or even as Adam Copeland for lack of a better description, warranted, hands down, an IC or Tag title, but nothing else.

An excellent piece on the 5th Estate program on CBC Newsworld got me thinking about the topic. A lot of people will say they are strained, as a result of things like missile defence refusal, no Canadian troops in Iraq, no Canadian cattle allowed in the States, etc. So, I'd like a some input on this. Liberal or Conservative(or Democrat or Republican), Canadian or American, all are welcome to participate. I personally don't think so. A refusal here or there is hardly Canada being bratty. At the same time, I don't think Bush's welcome in Canada was fair, or representative of Canadians. While I intensly dislike Bush and his policies, I feel that the States and Canada are indeed best friends. Feel free to post your two cents, within reason. For god's sake, please no "Fuck the States" or a "We'll boycott maple syrup, eh?"

Anyone see Tony Womack get "thrown out" at first in the first inning? Brutal.

What is the opening bit from? The "I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the four of them habitually smoke marijuana cigarettes" thing? Is it Reefer Madness, which I never saw but hear great things about?

They're not going anywhere. They managed a 40% oui with the most charismatic man in the history of Canadian politics, save Trudeau. Granted that was 20 years ago, but Bernard Landry, who currently runs the PQ, hates literally everything in existence.
-
Interesting point(and yes, fair). At the same time, I think the U.S won't cut ties with us, as Canada does a lot indeed for the States. I don't say that to be self serving, but I sincerely feel it true.

Accident. Yep, Sheffield should have thrown first.

I was laughed off the WWE board, which was my first choice because I figured it had the highest traffic. I'm begging for a copy of the aforementioned ad. Whoever has it, please post it, my brother's really excited over it. He laughed for about 20 minutes after seeing it last week.

Snickers ad? Please post it nyah. Kudos and

Reeled me in. Douche.

Tonight, in this very folder.... Sorry, had to do it. And an additional apology, but my brother thought the ad was about the funnies thing he's ever seen, and I figured this was the highest traffic board.

Did anyone else notice Pakistan was half censored? I found it hilarious.

Cut that crap out! I HATE THAT WORD, AUSTINNNNN! Man, do I love Mr. McMahon.

You're friggin' nuts. Chris Masters? Future of Raw? No fucking way. To be fair, Masters has a good look and is VERY young (not even 22), so there's room for improvement - 6-8 years worth of room even. Agreed. He could be very good. Needs a little time, but has a great heel look. Yep. He's done nothing on PPV yet except Lawler. That's not how you treat someone to push. And he has, already more heel heat than anyone on Raw. That's not that bad, actually. Dream match? Maybe on nostalgia, the wrestling would likely suck. Come on, Hogan's too damn old, and I dont think Michaels can carry him. That's actually not that bad. But if they cleanly go over Hussan, either of them, I'm never watching wrestling again. Honest.

We had a great discussion at work about this. What if Jack had been in shape? What if Bobby Jones didn't retire so young? What if Ben Hogan had never been in a car wreck? What if Byron Nelson had a chance to play in the majors that were affected by the Second World War? What if Arnold Palmer had metal drivers and softer golf balls? My take was that they were all irrelevant. It made for a great thought or two, but the fact is, that for now, it's a two man race for the best player ever between Tiger and Jack in my opinion. Jack holds the crown until Tiger hits 19. Maybe even Tiger takes the title if Tiger gets to say, 14 or 15 majors but eclipses Jack's total win count of 70. And no, his US Amateur wins do not count, nor do Jack's. That's not to undermine how impressive it is, especially 36 straight matches won like Tiger did, but if they mattered in the long run, people who were ignorant to golf would know who Phil Mickelson was because of how impressive his amateur and college career was.

It's not even close. Prince Charles is a dolt, but heis a figurehead. Jimmy Carter was the President of the United States, Commander in Chief. Carter's 100x worse than future King Charles. He's right. They don't really do anything. Not to us as Canadians or Australians or what have you. On a interesting side note, Zimbabwe was essentially kicked out of the Monarchy in December 2003. Does that seem like a joke to anyone? Or would it seem to be a dishonour?

Though I don't follow TNA, why wouldn't they keep him using Come Out And Play by the Offspring? That was his theme in ECW. Even if they couldn't use the actual song, it seems more logical than to rip that off than another song, especially since he's had the Offspring for 10 years. Same with Kid Kash and Bawidaba.

I don't really think of us as property of the United Kingdom. I compare it to sending your folks a Christmas card after moving out.

And his collection of over par rounds on Sunday at Augusta. I'm hoping for a late charge from Mickelson, Singh and Weir, but it's a pipe dream. Also, I'm pulling for Chad Campbell for gambling reasons. It is indeed Tiger's to lose. Damn.
