As a fellow Protestant, I don't see a reason. But I don't see why the UK has a monarchy, either. -=Mike Did a paper on that my first year of college. Hands down the best non-article I ever wrote. It's about tradition. It serves no purpose to Canadians, but it's just a way of saying thanks and honouring tradition. It would be cold and un necessary to just up and say the hell with it, as then Interim PM John Manley suggested doing in October 2002.

Seconded. Notable contenders also include a 3 way dance with Little Guido on ECW on TNN from April 2000. Also a great tag 3 way dance between The UnHoly Alliance, Super Crazy and Kid Kash, and the FBI at Guilty as Charged '01

By no means am I debating the fact they're intertwined. But you can indeed have one without the other. I am not a religious person, generally speaking. But I do feel I have morals. I'm sure I'm not alone there. My parents taught me the difference between right and wrong long before a religious figure did. If the most recent Pope, may he rest in peace, didn't condone hmosexuality, try and tell me otherwise that a religion as a whole is tolerant of it. I went to a Catholic school and remember being told in an assembly in Grade 8 "It's ok to have homosexual feelings, but no one here should act on them" What are you, an idiot? I said very clearly that if priests should marry and have sex, and there would be less pedophilia. While I have no statisical backing, I can safely say that many priests who raped altar boys did not have altar boys as their first choice of sexual prey. Encouraging homosexuality does not encourage pedophilia. And yes, my bad on the double post. You're a better man than I, I suppose.

Unnecessary. You don't need religion to have morals, not that I'm encouraging no religion. I'm sorry, there was no way you didn't imply they want hand in hand. That was self serving at best. While on the topic, it seems counterproductive of the Catholic church to be against gya marriage, and against, as mentioned, homosexual sex. That, for one, seems intolerant, which, I feel, is in direct contrast with 'Love Thy Neighbour'. Furthermore, what's worse? Consenting gay sex, albeit a little gross, between two adults, or priests and altar boys? That alone should prove that the Catholic Church, should indeed change with the times, and allow priests to marry and encourage homosexuality. Quite frankly, 30 years ago before society adapted to being more open towards homosexuals, how many closeted homos were forced into priesthood? Distastrous? Hardly.

Unecessary. You don't need religion to have morals. That was self serving at best.

http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...02&f=18&t=68735 Now's the time to topple the government for the Conservatives. Liberals aren't going anywhere. Let's face it, the general public are fairly short of attention. More statistics thrown at them now will not change their mind then the general statistics released last January. If the Liberals didn't get voted out last June, ain't gonna happen. And I can't see the NDP and Bloc, both leftist parties, really working with the CPC in any way, shape or form.

Is Angle that much younger than Shawn? -=Mike No, but he hasn't been around for 15 years plus with several retirements. Fuck him.

CRTC has ruled it has to be by the end of 2010. As for the States, I believe the FCC ruled 2006. Give me a brief hand with this. I've heard a variety of things, the two most common being: 1) I need a cable box and have to punch in higher number, say CBC is channel 301, CTV is channel 302, etc. 2) If a show is broadcast in HD, and I have a HDTV, the TV will pick up on it and I will see it in that format, on a regular channel(CBC and CTV are 6 and 8 respectively where I live.) If a show is not HD broadcast, I see it in normal NRTC format. I may have the NRTC thing wrong, but humour me please. And no, I don't know why I can explain the HD deadlines, but not a basic question.

I can't decide. I said Els in January, since he came so close in every major last year, he would just snap and win one. He needs to win a major, I feel, to be a credible #1 threat. But Tiger's playing well. Singh has to win again one of these weeks. And Mickelson's defending and playing the best he ever has. As for what I hope to see, just Jack being there will make me happy. The Masters is hands down my favourite sporting event of the year.

Da Baldies hit New Jack with an old school Nintendo at November to Remember 99.

I wholeheartedly disagree. HBK can't have much time as a wrestler left, he needs to stop going over everyone week in and week out on Raw. He beat Edge and Christian in Toronto for fuck's sakes. He's gone over the two of them on Raw so often I have trouble taking Edge as a legit World Title threat.

I can't buy him in the WWF. He won't get over there. It's gotta be ECW style intense Rhino. And yes, the guy was absolutely right, Rhino was the last ECW champion. They've absolutely wasted a definite main event heel.

During Wrestlemania's Money In The Bank yesterday, my buddies and I started marking out over a few spots, naturally. It spurned the topic debate. 5) Tommy Dreamer ties Raven to the cage. "The shot heard round the world" 4) Raven hands Dreamer one of the tag titles. 3) Taz and Bigelow go through the ring, either at Living Dangerously or at Heatwave, it's a tie. 2) Chair Riot 1) Terry Funk rolls up Raven to win. Honourable mention to RVD and Sabu double table legdropping Shinseki and Hayabusa, The crucifixion, VanTerminator, and New Jack's jump at November to Remember 99

If you could have one sport thing happen this year
CanadianGuitarist replied to TheOriginalOrangeGoblin's topic in Sports
Motion seconded. Thirded. Is fourthed a word? I know it's not technically this year, but Peyton Manning making a Superbowl. If it has to be this year, a tie between a miracle run by Jack Nicklaus at Augusta and a NHL season with real players. -
Hear me out before you jump to an answer. This discussion came up a few days ago with some buddies A: Fuck, baseball's so boring. B: Not really. Me: It is, but it shouldn't be that way. Look how many plays are set up for the game to be more exciting to fans. Bunts, sac flies, diving catches, stealing bases. There's not many other opportunities in other sports like that. A: I suppose, but who can just sit and watch a ball game? This led to a more elaborate discussion over which sport is the most exciting to watch, and which is designed to be the most exciting and dramatic. I say hockey for which is, and baseball for design. The catch it has to be consistently exciting, not just a good day or two. Though the final round of the 2004 Masters was ridiculously entertaining, I don't consider golf that exciting a sport.

Where? Eastern Europe and South America. Baseball is popular in all of Latin America, Asia, and the Netherlands. A substantial portion of their athletes come from Central America, and the asian contingent grows every year. all throughout Europe, South America, Africa, Asia...... I'll give you baseball in Latin America, but it's pretty much non-existent in Europe and Africa. Soccer I left out of the discussion because I was speaking strictly of the American big 3, but that's obviously still #1 worldwide And if baseball were more popular on a recreational level it wouldn't be so fucking hard to find a game. All you need is 18 guys w/ gloves, 1 bat and a couple balls, which shouldn't be THAT hard to find if everyone supposedly likes baseball so much. I see double that in weekly turnout at some of the weekly pickup b-ball games I attend, and know a shitload more people who own basketballs than baseball gloves. Recreational basketball leagues are a dime a dozen, good competition too, but all you can find "weekend warrior" wise for baseball is shitty softball leagues, because nobody plays. Believe me, I wish people would just show up at local parks to play pickup baseball, but it only happens in the movies... Unfortunately that might be true. I miss the shit of playing baseball growing up. Not softball, not 3 pitch. Stealing bases, dirt on my uniform, diving catches, full counts, sliding into home. That's baseball.

ECW Greatest Matches DVD Done Right?
CanadianGuitarist replied to Elbarto997's topic in General Wrestling
He's right. Even though I knew it was going to happen, (I was told about it a few days before it aired) I'm such a Dreamer mark and wanted him to win the damn title so badly, I was still shocked when it happened. If there's any golf fans reading this, the picture in my avatar is exactly golf's equivalent of Tommy getting the ECW title. Absolutely right. -
taz and bam bam went thru the entrance ramp at heatwave, sorry to be a nitpicker. as for mine, I cant think right now, but how about The Sandmans return in 1999, the crowd went NUTS Not bothered by the nitpicking, but I wasn't indecisive. They went through at Living Dangerously in an unplanned bit. They went through at Heatwave in a presumably planned bit. Take your pick, I marked out for both. My bad, I was kind of vague.

Hmm. Lemme try this again. http://www.iraqbodycount.net/ http://icasualties.org/oif/ Try that. If not, fuck it. Type it in manually. -
Fair enough of me to elaborate. The concept of socialism to me includes high taxes yes, but also a fair health care system and theoritically more jobs and a higher GDP. That's what I mean by taking care of your fellow man. Now, this would be even more accurate were Canada's socialist party in power. But it isn't. The NDP actually came in last of all the major parties in last June's election, taking I believe 19 seats. More than in 2000, but still. If I can quote great Liberal leader Pierre Elliot Trudeau: "We are in the radical centre, the extreme middle, that is our position." A bit of an exaggeration yes, but a socialist country? I'd love it, but no.

Of all the times for hockey to go on strike, this would have been a great opportunity for small market and non traditional teams to thrive. Atlanta is shit at basketball right now, and they have a soon to be great hockey team, as does Miami. Tampa and Calgary surely brought hope to small market hockey towns with the Cup finals last year. And this isn't a shot at the game, but basketball's only going to continue to decline with the Artest thing and the poor performance of the US Mens's team at the Olympics.
