Yep. Me too. I'd have bought that shirt for sure. He was hands down the best heel in wrestling at the time except for HHH.

I do believe Palmerio, Sosa and Schilling. There's no way McGwire and Bonds haven't juiced.

This has been a hot topic, as several PGA Tour players weren't technically given appearance fees at Doral, but were pretty 'taken care' of. Currently, it's against PGA Tour rules for appearance fees to be given, but this is only true on the North American tour, not so in Europe, South Africa, Asia, Australia or Japan. Tiger Woods getting 2 million in Germany two years ago springs to mind. The tour players are divided on this, and it's certainly a good debate. I'd love to get some feedback, maybe, perhaps even ideally, from those who don't really follow golf. I'm for it. It's no different than a franchise in a team sport throwing a few extra bucks at a key free agent. Each tournament is run individually, and it's up to a tournament director to attract fans and TV money. Tiger Woods playing at Glen Abbey in 2000 did wonders, and the tournament overhead cost is overwhelming. It makes sense.

They weren't quite handed a cheque and a thank you, but a "we'll take care of your hotel, food, car, we'll make sure you're on tv at a good time. What's this? I seem to have dropped a large pile of money"

Tie between Dreamer/RVD and Undertaker. Close second(well, I guess third) for Jericho.

A little unfair Vyce. That should be the world's smallest violin. Yes, he blamed his injury on the media. Not outright, but as a member of the media, I hate him. Bastard. Fuck him. Imagine how his fellow Giants feel. I'm glad San Fran never became the Toronto Giants as planned in 1975, I'd hate to have him represent my country. Yes, I'm ashamed of Ben Johnson and Brett Hull. Just humour me.
-
Well, that should settle that.
-
As a Hart mark, this officially made me hate him. I'd always been kind of indifferent. Someone mentioned the pops he got at WMXVII and at Raw the following night. Well, regarding Raw, he recieved a 5 minute standing ovation in the, what was then called, Molson Centre. The Molson Centre! Hockey's greatest city. The only people other than Hogan to get the same reaction? 1) Maurice Richard when Montreal Forum closed. The greatest hockey player in the city's history, in the Mecca of hockey? That gives Hogan some respect. 2) Saku Koivu, upon his return from beating cancer. Hogan's wrestling ability, or a courageous battle with cancer? Seems like it shouldnt even be a close battle as to which is more impressive. (By the way, that game clinched a playoff spot for the Habs, first time in four seasons). I don't like Hogan, but we should all appreciate what he's done for wrestling. No he wasn't a great wrestler. Yes, he was kind of a glory hog. But he did nearly everything to get wrestling to where it is today. Someone made a case that he was for nostalgia, and he was cheered not because they necessarily wanted him to get the strap, just for nostalgia. I think that's fair.

Sgt Slaughter and Jesse Ventura on commentary, respectively.

I think it stopped being Shotgun Saturday Night from a nightclub and became Shotgun around July. I vividly remember watching Shotgun the day after the Winter Olympics began.

Here's one that got brought up on the WWE board. What if Taker hadnt been hurt at WM10?

Savage dies from the snake bite on SNME from Damien. Honest, I thought that. -
Well, I watched it the other night. Marked out dozens of times. Haven't seen Old School Taker, Hogan or Savage in years. Screamed when I saw Dibiase. Screamed even louder when I saw I R S. One of the guys watching it with me said I screamed louder seeing I R S then I did when he and I were in a car and almost had a 120 kmh head on collision. Here's the questions: What was Taker's beef with Savage? Did anyone notice that Savage jumped over the top rope to continue beating Taker, and crawled back in the ring a few seconds later? He made it to the final four!
-
Touche. I guess I can't be bitter at him any more. Yes, he belongs in the hall. No doubt. 10 Golden Gloves? Ludicrous for him not to be there.
-
The story as I understand it is that HBK, X-Pac and Bulldog were in a bar, and HBK pretty shamelessly hit on the girlfriend of a Marine, who didn't like it. And something like 10 marines beat up the 3 wrestlers.
-
Yep. Thanksgiving Saturday off Eckersley.
-
Yep. And he was intregal to the 92 and 93 World Series wins. I still mark out watching him hit that homerun in Game 4 of the ALCS and his arms raising. But I never forgave him. You gotta fuck up bad to be the overwhelming favourite for the Chicken Cannon(little Canadian humour).
-
Nothing. Same as now. Bret would have left, albeit in better terms. HHH would be, well, on top.
-
Yep. Rock bottom wasnt bad either. Bravo. That's the key I think is already used phrases as opposed to bad puns.
-
True. But Owen and HBK could have been extended somewhat. Especially considering Austin won the title again at WM15.
-
Patriot Missile sounds correct. Pedigree made sense when HHH was a snob. Ridiculous now, however.
-
I'm positive Del Wilkes' finisher was called the Uncle Sam, not slam. Which was also stupid, don't get me wrong.
-
Everyone mentioned all the just Doring ones, but I know he and Roadkill had a double team move called the Buggy Bang. Honest. God, I miss ECW. As for worst, Marc Mero's Wild Thing would have to be up there.

Worst wrestling related conversationd you've heard

My late cousin had a buddy who knew the Undertaker pretty well. Before the Taker met Sara, he was kinda dating a girl who my cousin's buddy knew. She didn't care for the Taker however, and he promptly left some whiny messages on her machine. "Linda....I miss youuuuuuu, why haven't you returned my calls?" The Grand Slam can't be beat. Off topic, I was drunk there a few weeks ago. Does it count as flirting if I try to get the waitress to do First of all, they're buddies of mine, it was in fun. Second, I'm a pacifist in some sense. Violence is necessary in hockey, and the death penalty should sometimes be an option. I personally will never fight someone, that's just the way I feel. Third, a violent American? Well, I never! Fourth, I believe Canada kicked your ass last time. He started it before I get flamed, thank you very much. I work with a guy named Chris who's an old school mark too. We work in electronics of a retail store, and a lot of times one of us will do cash and the other will bag. We call this, naturally, tag teaming. It got to the point where instead of saying, "hey, can you give me a hand" we'd scream random tag team names at one another, more kudos for more obscure tag teams. Tekno Team 2000 and The Truth Comission currently lead the way. A special credit was given to Chris, when a third guy, Dan, was working with us and Chris called him Oscar when he tagged me in. (Oscar was the manager of old school Men on a Mission) As for the Duggan quote, Chris didn't care for the way I bagged one time, so he started calling me Tough Guy and HOOOOOOOO'd. This continued for about an hour, and during a bag/cash, Chris goes, YOU'RE NOT SO TOUGH!. An old guy in line proceeds to also scream "Yeah, you helped me find my cd, but you're really not that tough. HOOOOOOO!"
