I actually had one yesterday leaving work. I don't quite know why work had a box of them next to the punch clock, but there you go. I believe the thread your quote was discussed in was "Bad Candy". Come to think of it, we've had the "Smarties" debate before also. People actually give religious pamphlets to trick-or-treaters? That's god-awful.

Impossible. The response to the letter did not include the words "Fire the coach". Probably the only page in that day's paper that did not.

A letter in the Toronto Sun yesterday taught me that each party receives 1.89 or so for each vote placed in their favour. The hell is that? That's obscenely costly, even with the lower voter turn-out this year. Should Detroit get the first crack at Steve Stamkos for winning the Stanley Cup as well? Naturally, the Sun defended it. The response was tiptoeing around facism. I'll post it later, I'm saving the paper in vain, hoping to finish off the last couple bits of the crossword.

I wonder if a team in Hamilton would work; Ballsille, obviously, is gung-ho on it, to the point that he's mentioned adding on to Copps (That was from Real Time Sports on The Fan today, I don't remember him actually saying it publicly). I think it would. I think a more intriguing idea would be, say, the Ontario Predators instead of the Hamilton/KW/London/Niagara Predators. It's a little forced, but I think it gets a foot in the door of a rivalry, as well as marketing outside the Hammer in what's, for the most part, Leaf Nation anyway. There's nothing more I'd like than to see another team in Canada, so while it might be a little strange seeing a second Toronto franchise, I'm for it. And finally, my post in the Death Pool this weekend hinted at a "fingers crossed" list of next year's selection. Coupled with my watching of Bon Cop, Bad Cop this weekend, Bettman will officially be a 2009 Death Pool Entry. Al Davis, too.

1. What kind of changes can we expect from Samurai Mike taking over as the head coach in San Francisco? Nothing long term, they're still a less-than-mediocre team who had a few good weeks. I do see the boost of a first-game new coach being enough to lead them over Seattle this week, however. 2. If Indy loses on Monday, are they in deep shit? Are they in deep shit already? I believe they already are, but that's not to take away from a huge divisional game in six days. They're missing two important players in Sanders and Addai (though the latter was underachieving), and have a so-so record to begin with. Indy's behind the eight ball in the standings, and that's not factoring in that the Titans are this good, IMO. There are four teams (excluding division leaders) who have a better or the same record as the Colts, and the Chargers(who have turned it around, despite the loss Sunday) are close at 3-4 also. A win Monday by the Colts puts them right back in it, but the same was true two weeks ago after beating Baltimore. 3. If Dallas loses this week, are they in deep shit? Are they in deep shit already? It's tough to say. I don't think they're quite done yet, but close. 4. Will British people (in general) ever give a fuck about the NFL? Can you defend the NFL wanting to play these games overseas? No, and the relative indifference to the WLAF and NFL Europe should be enough of a guideline. Still, the NFL is the best run and best marketed league in North America, and I can't blame them for trying to tap into a potential fanbase that's got twice as many people as North America. 5. What does St. Louis have to do to maintain momentum and keep winning games? What does New England have to do to knock the Rams back down a peg? "Play like this week" is my cop-out answer. Not just play well, but take advantage of the other team's penalties. Tampa Bay at Dallas Tampa. Not a blow-out, though. Dallas beat themselves this week more than Stephen Jackson and the Rams did. Few throws to Owens and lots of penalties. They're better than that, but Tampa's not the team to rebound against. Washington at Detroit Washington. By a lot. Buffalo at Miami Buffalo. Flying high after a good win Sunday, and they're always pumped for Miami. St. Louis at New England New England. Miami was pumped after two big wins against two powerhouse teams, and I believe the same effect will apply here to the Rams. Not a run-away by the Pats, but a win. San Diego at New Orleans @ Wembley Stadium Chargers. Though less distance, it's two road games in a row for the Saints as well, and without Bush? I like the Chargers chances here. Kansas City at NY Jets Jets. Atlanta at Philadelphia Eagles. Oakland at Baltimore Raiders. Hunch. Arizona at Carolina. Probably the second-toughest pick of the week. I'll go with the Cards. Cleveland at Jacksonville Jags. Cincinnati at Houston Texans. NY Giants at Pittsburgh. Toughest of the week. When in doubt, take the home team. Steelers. Seattle at San Francisco Niners. As mentioned, they've got to have a little boost from Nolan, and they did win in Week 2 over the Seahawks, who must be close to shell-shocked now. Indianapolis at Tennessee Titans.

That really puts you in a bind, doesn't it? Similarly, I bet on New York yesterday. I was actually pulling for a tie as OT progressed.
-
Yes. As discussed with I think Scroby via PM in June, and I posted a picture of such in "Post a Pic" in August.

For me, if it's not shepherd's pie, it's chili.

This came up in, I think, the birthday thread. It's been believed that Baron/The Rocket/Other Ghost of.... is also me. His YouTube account is CanadianBassist. Shenanigans to follow.

I was waiting for that. I wasn't quite sure which was correct, but didn't think I needed to bring it up for the sake of bringing it up. I'm still not sure which to use. Being Canadian, I have a penchant for silly spellings, of course. And shepherd's pie is probably my favourite food. I defy anyone to find a better winter comfort food. (Tourney on the horizon?)

Musings: * I am personally going to fly to Dallas to bitch-slap Chad Johnson. Only early pick I was wrong on. * I'm delighted, but not very impressed, with the Raiders win. More to come later, my head's still kind of spinning with the potential payout that abandoned me in St. Louis (though it was later underlined by the Packers' win).

Best food ever? That's bold.
-
Have you tried the composite as well? I mean, obviously it won't look as good, but at least you're in business.
-
Christ. I would have won via tiebreaker, interestingly. That, of course, is moot.

Beat me to it. The Hotstove was debating it during second intermission of the Leafs game yesterday. I didn't see the play leading up to it, just the hit itself, but it looked clean. Any word on him yet?

Examples of Announcers Ignoring PPV Matches In Progress
CanadianGuitarist replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
It wasn't a PPV, but this was the only example I can recall: From Raw in May '99, a few weeks before Over The Edge. Earlier in the show, The Rock was locked in a casket, which Triple H smashed with a sledgehammer, repeatedly. It's all JR talked about during the following match, which seems really odd knowing what we do now. The match was, I believe Michael Hayes and The Hardys vs. The Brood. JR even apologised for it a few times. It may not have been Michael Hayes, but it definitely involved The Hardys and Edge and Christian. -
This is almost entirely thanks to Matt Young in the hockey thread. The Ducks can't be the worst. Mighty Ducks was probably sillier. I don't know what a Clipper is, or if they have them in L.A., but there's surely worse.

I really like the new HNIC theme. I heard it on the radio a few times last weekend, and didn't mind it. They kept saying how much better it was set to visuals, which made sense to me, but I didn't realise they changed the graphics package as well. I really like the stadium graphic to start (as opposed to the pond hockey map of Canada, which was awesome as well). It adds a very 'big game' feel to it right from the get go.

There was a thread in Sports this past spring where you would ask a 'means-for-discussion', bar-room type sports question, and the following person would answer it, then ask a question of their own. I liked that. Let's try it here. (Czech once posed, in my alligator thread, whether or not it would be better to be crushed below or above an elevator cart. I like that). When you're sitting at a theatre or whatever, and someone walks by through your row in that crammed little walking area, is it better to have their ass, or their crotch, at face level? You, in no way, want to rail the walker-by. Edit: Title rhymes. Awesome.

I'll go a conservative 3.5. He did look good in the third last week, against an almost-equally dynamic Habs offence.

That's pretty much it. They don't really do, well, anything. -

How the fuck could anyone hate Amish people? Indifferent? Sure. Confused by? Absolutely. Hate? I just don't see it. -
Agreed. Let's make TSM infamous There could be like, a TSM Mafia going after Al Davis if that's the case. Hey, this question would be good in the awful debate thread I started (had it gone as intended): Murdering is out. What about hiring a hitman? Hey again! I'm leery about starting any more threads, but a TSM Mafia thread, chronicling our ideal day-to-day murders and shady doings, would be awesome.

I only saw bits and pieces, but from what I saw, it should have been a 4 or 5-0 Ranger win. Lots of wide shots, high shots, and twice in the third, they hit the post. Such as? Ghost laid out a pretty strong case. I admit it's early as well, and I'm sure this young team is going to go through some growing pains and stumble a little, but they look awfully solid thus far.

SD/CAR/CHI/PIT/TEN/MIA/NYG/DAL/HOU/IND/NYJ/WAS/TB/DEN St. Louis scores 13. Good luck, all. Hey, I took the favourite on every pick but one.
