Why was Orlando your destination if you wanted snow? God, I hate snow. -
The Things That Anger You Thread.
CanadianGuitarist replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
Damn my living ass living in isolation. Would your dying ass be any warmer? Well, maybe if it was underground. But maybe not if it was underground. That's a hell of a discussion right there. Would a corpse be, for lack of a better description, cold-blooded like an alligator? Does the casket have any type of insulation? -
This gets my vote for selfish and petty reasons: My mother and I played Jeopardy a few weeks ago. The final answer was "This is the only NBA team with a (rowel?) in its logo". The word may not have been rowel, but it ultimately meant I lost, because I said Portland, which just sounded right. When Alex said, before revealing the contestants' answers, "Of course, the discovery and moving west of the continent played a big part in this team's logo", I began celebrating. I wagered everything, and thought I had won with that comment. I still didn't know what a rowel was, but I won, so yeahhhhhh!!!!! A 'rowel' turned out to be the spur in San Antonio's logo. I lost. The Rocket has a similar story involving Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. I'm taking this grossly out of the context from which it was used, but, ironically, that's one of the better marketing ploys in sports, juxtaposing this very thread. Probably the second best, behind Great American Ballpark.

I could be wrong, but I always thought 'nickname' was the noun. For example, "Avalanche" is Colorado's nickname. The "Avs" is slang.

The moment your favorite superstar or any wrestler jumped the shark
CanadianGuitarist replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
Which? I agreed with the shark-jump. One of the best moments in the history of ECW was his return and handing Dreamer the belt. Nine months later, he was tapping out (pretty anti-climatically) to the Clap Trap. You and I might be thinking of different moments though, which throws my case for a loop. And absolutely yes to LoD and RVD. -

Bret and Benoit have both been mentioned. I'd say Foley jumped when he became commissioner. I can't pinpoint one particular one-off appearance that ruined him. Tommy Dreamer as "just a regular guy" was absolutely his downfall. I don't think Owen ever jumped the shark. -
When/why did they go back to the mesh? I remember Foley, in his first book, describing one of his most painful injuries was being hit in the head and shoulder with the door of the old-school cage at Summerslam '97. I'm sure he wasn't the only one.

Had another interview with Future Shop Friday, with more time to look around the store. I never appreciated the difference in price between TV's that were and were not 1080p, especially in the size I'm looking for. Nonetheless, I spoke with a mortgage consultant last week as well; He recommends waiting to buy a house until the spring, when it becomes more of a buyer's market around here (thanks to the Deere plant closing in Welland). So, I may wait until next May or June to buy a new set, unless Pro*Line pays for it. My buddy Chiu just got a new Samsung. The model number escapes me, but he paid 2300 for a 42-inch set. He recommends it to me, and the specs are phenomenal, but I'm still sticking to my "hopefully under 1000" budget.

I need Seattle to come back here. Edit: God damn! 27-10 now? It was only 17-10 when I last checked. 1-4, here I come.

I posted a link earlier, and nothing is working. I am going to try on a different TV to see if its actually my TV that is fucked up. I didn't mean which set of cables (I clicked the link), I meant which prongs. I still think you've got the red from component and composite mixed, but it's more likely you'd get a black and white picture if that was the case, When you got yours back from the RROD a few years ago, did you get one with an HDMI out? If yes, go get an HDMI cable. Well, maybe not right now, but I recommend it.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.
CanadianGuitarist replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
God damn, it does! The answer is 81. I would have also accepted "snacktacular". I still used a calculator. Also, I had a recurring, well, not nightmare, but scary thought when I was around 11, that I would win some obscene cash prize from McDonald's or something, and I'd blow it on the skill-testing question, because it didn't follow BEDMAS. -

lol. Don't get it. I used the calculator on my computer to do the first half, and said fuck it when up came 25.857482 (give or take - I'm stressing laziness, not incomprehension). -
This may have been lost in translation, but which cables specifically are you using? If you've got the red/white/yellow, that's composite, not component. Try looking for that input. If you're using y/pb/pr, make sure the red from the component is not the audio red (you'll still need the red and white audio from the composite along with y/pb/pr). Will the component cables for 360 actually work with an SDTV? I realise, of course, that component doesn't necessarily mean HD, but I've heard of stranger things happening. The TV's at your camp are HD, Scuba?

CHI/HOU/IND/MIN/OAK/CIN/CAR/WAS/DEN/DAL/PHI/SEA/NE/NYG Rams score six. Good luck, all.

With whom? This argument intrigues me. Also, I wanted to use a Simpsons line, but it's essentially been used, even if not directly. Oh crap! I forgot it was today, and made an off-the-cuff Jew joke. I'll tell it tomorrow, when my guilt can subside a little. Fuck it, I'll tell it now. An outing at Boston Pizza was suggested tomorrow, wherein I said they should change the name to "Jerusalem Pizza, since clearly Jews run it; why else would prices be so high?"

This just now happened to me. Weird. Carl Budding is a stone-faced liar when it comes to expiration dates. Re: The garbage can thing - Have you tried WD40? I'm told spraying it on a can will keep animals away; I wonder if it neutralizes the stench altogether.

Is there a link to that story anywhere? It was brought up on OTR yesterday, but Onrait quoted him as "Nobody cares about guys like Jarome Iginla". I'm going to hate him regardless, but I'd like to hear the context of it; The last three lines of Baron's post make a pretty big difference in the two statements. Additionally, Onrait said something along the lines of Avery trying to encourage a "heroes vs. villains" marketing approach, which makes me wonder if Avery's a failed wrestler or something.

Milky's probably got better drunk stories than I, so I can't speak for all of us. But checkmate, sir. Some things man is not meant to know.

Explain; had you heard a salesperson say something similar?

My favourite thing about this is that it's still in your fridge? What are you, worried it'll be gross when it's room temperature?

Twenty-two goals? That's a very fair signing at 3 mil per. The 1996-97 season opener Thursday should be very interesting in Detroit, with Alanis Morrisette singing. At work this morning, I thought I heard Def Leppard would be there, but can that be?

And this is a guy who was described in 2004 as "Hockey's most underrated player" by Don Cherry. He really was a big fish in a small pond in Chicago, but, clearly, it's been downhill since then.
-
The drive that ended the third and led to the field goal could have easily been a TD as well. This is amazing to watch.

What else does HNIC mean? I'm sure it's not universally known as Hockey Night in Canada, but I didn't get what you meant, nor did I understand what I assume was a zinger from Barron.
-
And CBC in Canada. At 9, there's a voting show with the five finalists for the new HNIC theme.
