Like Fazzle, it probably took me about a dozen games as well. I remember coming home with '07 and thinking how awful it was the first few games. Then once you're used to it, how did we play with the d-pad for so many years? The skill stick is much better.

ITT: talk about how much weddings fucking blow
CanadianGuitarist replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
When I was in college, my buddy TJ got married to a woman from Maine. He moved there before the wedding, but because all of us were in college, none of his buddies were financially able to attend. He had a vow renewal seven months later for the Canadians who couldn't attend, which just happened to fall on the 20th bday of our buddy Aaron, who was also invited. So as we're driving to the church, we had about an hour to kill, so we stopped to pick up some beer and wine before we went to pick up our friend Andrea, who lived six blocks away from the liquor store. We managed to get drunk in the drive from the liquor store to Andrea's house. When we got there, someone asked "Hey, should we stop drinking? I mean, it is a wedding." The consensus was "No. He'll be so happy to see us, we can get away with murder." So we drank more, and were just sloshed by the time we got to the church at 6. This story belongs to a Kevin, who's a buddy of mine and MonkeyMan (who crashed the wedding, as I recall). Kevin told TJ's bride, whom he had never met to that point, how wasted he was when shaking her hand. He followed it up by signing the same thing int he guestbook. He followed that up with this legendary gem, in the middle of the church: Priest: "Ok, the wedding is over, we'll be going to TJ's aunt's house for a reception and BBQ" Kevin: "Is there beer there?" Priest: "Yes. Yes there is." Kevin: "Awesome" Oh yeah, I got kicked out of the peelers that night for passing out on my table. No dancer was atop it at the time. Come to think of it, Aaron still has my yo-yo from that day. Also, the first time I ever got drunk was five years old, at my parent's wedding. My twin bro, too. We both saw a bunch of screwdrivers which we thought were just orange juice. They weren't. -
ATL/BUF/CHI/CAR/MIA/HOU/ARI/DEN/SF/SEA/BAL/IND/PIT/DAL/SD How the hell is Minnesota favoured? St. Louis scores a dozen. Good luck, all.

"Right now!" "Why put it off another day?"

That's awesome, and I can't believe I didn't use the "Give him the title, that's good enough for me" line earlier. Heenan saying "Trust me" as Jake walked to the ring....There's not a single bad thing about that match. Not factoring the Benoit thing in, 2004 was not as good as 1992 IMO, but a very good match nonetheless.

Do it. If you decide down the line "Hey, money's tight, maybe I shouldn't have", it's a life lesson. If you decide not to go now, you're missing out. Do it. Hell, I'm a Habs fan, and I'd love to be there when they retire Linden's number.

As mentioned in GW last week, my second favourite match of all time. Literally everything was on, and there was a feeling that wouldn't be replicated until 2008: A legitimate "who of these five or six or seven guys will win?" I also liked the use of Repo Man and the Bulldog in the "Rumble Thoughts" vignette, adding an even further "anyone can win" dynamic. Gorilla and Heenan were awesome on commentary. "He came out this early? With these odds, I'm gonna be on easy street! I'm gonna make a fortune!" "Or lose one, Brain" "I can't look at it that way!"

I'm in, even though I'm hooked on BaP, online and off.

Early Games (1:15pm EDT) KC @ ATL OAK @ BUF The Raiders have played well against the Bills the last few years, but this is Buffalo's game. CIN @ NYG MIA @ NE HOU @ TEN I'm still not sure what to make of Houston. I expected them to play 8-8 or so, but they got blown away by Pittsburgh in Week One. The unexpected week off might accumulate rust, but it's tough to gauge them after one game. TB @ CHI Third-closest game of the week. ARI @ WAS Second-closest game of the week. CAR @ MIN Showed lots of poise coming back against Chicago, and Steve Smith is returning. Late Afternoon Games (4:15pm EDT) NO @ DEN DET @ SF STL @ SEA Seattle's going to really put the hammer down. PIT @ PHI Toughest on paper; I'll give Pittsburgh the edge with Philly on five days rest. CLE @ BAL JAX @ IND They have to be better than this. Sunday Night Football (8:15pm EDT on NBC) Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football (8:30 EDT on ESPN) New York Jets @ San Diego Chargers So do they.

Help Me Expand My Wrestling Repertoire
CanadianGuitarist replied to Garth's topic in General Wrestling
I wrote up a whole response to the fact you mentioned not watching Hart/Austin at WM13 before I really read the rest of this post. Good list. I did the same thing. -
You're allowed more than one, you know.

Sorry, I just got home and finished watching the Chargers/Broncos game. Fuck Mike Shanahan with a cactus dildo. That was one of the ballsiest things I've ever seen. It wouldn't piss me off had it not been the only game I got wrong on Pro*Line. I was flirting with a six figure payday. If I were watching it objectively, I would have appluaded it. That was a phenomenally entertaining game, let alone the last drive. My jaw hit the floor from that call. I mean, fuck, I'm not covering new ground since this has been discussed already, and I'm pretty well rambling, but shit, what can you say to that? What a game.

That's better. In real life, Denver's late two-point convert prevented me from winning an awful lot of money. Groan.

Help Me Expand My Wrestling Repertoire
CanadianGuitarist replied to Garth's topic in General Wrestling
My two favourite shows from 96-2000 are Wrestlemania XIV and Heatwave '98. I'd strongly recommend both. Wrestlemania 13 is forgettable, but Hart-Austin is my favourite match ever. Though it's already been mentioned, my second favourite match ever is the 92 Rumble. Also, if you're approaching it fresh, Wrestlemania VII isn't bad. Warrior-Savage was an insanely fun match to watch. -
Was there ever a "DOWNHOME KILLED...." about 9/11?
-
Edit: I'll do you one better, 909: CAR/TEN/GB/BUF/OAK/IND/NYG/WAS/SEA/TB/ARI/SD/HOU/NE/PIT/PHI/9

I can't be the only one who thought that about Batman's flowers. Also, John Ritter and Johnny Cash died on 9-11.

This formula writes itself, though it may not sell a lot of PPV's: Rumble in January, winner gets title shot as normal. Whichever show he challenges, the opposite gets EC the following month at No Way Out. Winner of EC at No Way Out represents their show for the title at WM.

Stars from the 90's the faded too soon

This thread begins and ends with Vader. -
I, too, am intrigued by the Volcano Taco, but your ho-hum-hot review kinda ruined it for me. Speaking of Yum! hot foods, that devil's spicy chicken sandwich thing at KFC was disappointingly mild as well.

25 might be high, but I think they'll show pretty strongly; they're clearly the most concerned with the environment. That's really all I know about them, but that might be enough to win them some seats.

God yes. I'd never even heard of one (me!) until my buddy's ex brought me one back from shopping, just because it had Arnie on it. I had just finished a 30-hour famine, so I could have eaten or drank anything she gave me, but this was awesome. I have them about once a month now. This came up in the ice cream thread over the summer, but McDonald's Ice Coffee has taken the lead for me in the coffee dept. Ordinarily, a simple double-double for me is all the coffee I'll drink (two cream, two sugar). Also, my folks have this instant coffee that, despite the outraged objections from a buddy of mine, is fantastic.

This isn't meant as a shot at Harper, but in 2006, he didn't really campaign on promises or points, just kinda "I'm me, don't vote Liberal", which I'm seeing here as well. As I've tried to say, I don't dislike Harper, but I'd never vote for a Tory. JotW was spot on; he's the most identifiable of all the party leaders, especially given how many playoff games he was at during the Oilers and Sens runs to the finals. The idea of a majority for any party seems unlikely. I envision something around: Roughly 90 seats apiece for the Grits and Tories. Roughly 50 seats apiece for the NDP and Bloc. 25 or so for the Green.
