He also became an assistant coach for the Stars. Buzz is that Montreal will retire St. Patrick's number in November. Habs reps "do not comment on matters of retired numbers."

Two questions I'm ashamed to ask. First, in my never-ending quest to get my mom and stepdad into HD, I've given them an HDMI cable. (Read: My mom and I bought a Jeopardy game the other day that required fucking around with their home theatre's DVD out. When we finished, we didn't bother unplugging the game, and thus, they couldn't watch anything, so I insisted on giving them my spare). My mom's on board, but is kind of shy about it. Conversely, my stepdad doesn't understand, so he doesn't care and I'm wrong. (see my previous posts). So I plugged in the HDMI and it sent the signal to 480p from 480i. Minor difference. I looked up the specs of the home theatre and it does upconvert to 1080i, but the tv info onscreen still says 480p. Shouldn't it upconvert automatically? If not, how do I achieve this? And, if they watch a 1.33 movie or, say TV show on box set, will the upconvert function put it in widescreen? If not, well, refer my stepdad's position again. Second, I'm also in the market for a home theatre. There's a cheapy from Wal*Mart, which is ideal for me: 50 bucks, 100 watts. (My soon-to-be living room is only about 12 x 12, so I don't care how loud it is. And if it breaks in six months, well, it's 50 bucks. I simply want the clarity of five different channels*. There's another reason it's ideal: It's a receiver with five speakers, not an HTIB. I plan on using my 360 and HD add-on. So, my question: The receiver features two RCA audio ins. If I run RCA audio from my TV's audio out to the receiver while playing my 360, will that be enough, or will I need that adapter that came with the 360 HDMI cable? * I'd always been kind of indifferent to sound, but my folks aforementioned new HTIB, at 1200 watts, was amazing. For a more practical example, the place I was staying in Calgary had a 150w package. It was plenty loud for our place, but moreso, I can't get over how much better hockey was with one channel for ice ambiance, one channel for the crowd, one channel for the announcer, etc.

It's bad PR, regardless of how few customers (if any) will use that much.

My dad just bought a Sanza MP3 player. It did not come with software. We plugged it into the USB, but no "add new hardware" wizard popped up. Under the sync tab, Media Player yielded nothing, as if nothing was plugged in. I also looked through "add new hardware" via the control panel. It auto-searched to no avail, and under the list of types of hardware to add, nothing quite did fit the bill. "Mass USB storage device" was close, but before I try that, here's what's confuzzling about it the most: He was at my place earlier in the day to take some music off my computer. We plugged it in the USB and the "new hardware" wizard instantly recognised it. The only thing I can think of is that my dad's PC is USB 1.1 opposed to 2, but I'm not sure if that would be a reason, or if it would apply anyway. Thoughts? -
There's a Ric Flair bit that my buddy and I have been using a lot: "Bret Hart, pics of himself all over his living room? Not a legend! Mick Foley, human stunt double? Not a legend!" Anyone know when this was from? I thought it was from a Raw in 2005 or so, but part of me thinks it was from an Off The Record. Moreso, anyone have the vid?

Also, we're sneakin up on The Annual 20 Questions thread. I gotta pick up some yearbooks, which I'm beginning to notice in newsstands. I gotta pick a few up - I'm always rusty at this time of the year, but the Jays playing meaningful baseball, coupled with a potentially much better Raiders in September, have only added to that problem.

I didn't get the three of the house either. The "Send Link" was awesome, lol.

This story has to be shared: I'm staying with my folks right now as I readjust from my cross-country move and deal with the red tape of buying a place. I've primarily been using their desktop as opposed to my laptop. My mother has Facebook as well, and my notifcations on Saturday included her posting a picture of herself that I'd never seen, in which she has braided hair; My assumption was that it was from her trip to the Dominican in May or June, but my response was the quote from Treble's Holiday Inn Guy signature. I followed with "A gold star if you get that reference, but I really don't know where the picture is from". I just googled something, and the first item in the history was the quote as well. The fourth result was our NHL thread from December, including my replacing Cal Ripken with Michael Ryder. She only looked at the first three search results. Other snippets from that thread include me worrying about the recent play of the Habs, and CC not worrying about the recent play of the Sens. I like that.

And it's Vijay, with his second win of the month. Onto the Deutsche Bank with its goofy Labour Day finish. The cut will knock off guys 71-120, with a current gap of only about 2000 points. This should be good.

While reading that, I envisioned you saying it in Randy Savage's voice. -
I think General Wrestling should be exempt; but I, at the very least, contributed to a lurkiing Montreal debate. Thus, bets are off.

If the situation were reversed, and it was Bret who would be the benefactor of Vince stealing the title from Shawn, I imagine Bret would take it. I'm not trying to make Bret out as a martyr or anything; I think you overlooked the angle that I was viewing it from: That it was more of a when-where-whom, rather than Bret being simply unprofessional altogether. I'll admit you've kind of made me stop and think, but as far as the case I made defending Bret two posts ago, the scenario you described is irrelevant. Incidentally, I've always viewed the situation as "Neither side is right, but Bret was less wrong."

Canada had something to do with it, but the rest of your post, to me, is accurate and also supercedes where it was. I know this is a continually-beaten, long-dead horse, but it's not like he didn't offer options or anything. It's not like he said "I'm keeping my title, and that's that."

I don't know what reminded me of this thread specifically, but I heard "Rag Doll" by Aerosmith today, which certainly fits. Also, "Dr. Feelgood" by Motley Crue and "Settle" by The Headstones.

I'd been looking for for a while too. I guess it's on the new Flair DVD, but I never got around to buying or borrowing it. Still, Flair's promo on HHH before their match is probably my favourite moment of one of the most memorable nights in Raw's history.

There's a hell of a logjam right now with six guys at -7. Some good names up there to: Steve Stricker, Mike Weir, Sergio Garcia, Hunter Mahan. Vijay Singh, Anthony Kim, Kenny Perry, and Bubba Watson are all within a shot as well. Weir's 'playoff beard' is hilarious.

I'll jump ahead about an hour in the show: Mean Gene: Alright, back with Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan. Family members dropping like the Berlin Wall. Bobby Heenan, I find you're tougher to get along with than my mother-in-law on a weekend visit to my house. Heenan: Don't you concern yourself with getting along with me, I'm the easiest guy in the world to get along with! But when you're 7'4", and 550 pounds, and it takes two-and-a-half-hours for the blood to reach the brain, you don't think real right! MG: Bobby Heenan, where do get the bal...the nerve to hit Andre the Giant in the face? BH: I'll tell ya where I get the ba, the nerve! You take orders from me! I'm the head of the family! Ya listen to me? You go to the top! Don't listen to me, you're never heard from again! You have just committed, pal!

Awesome. I didn't realise I had to hit the button atop the controller and the button on the console simultaneously. Wicked. Thanks!
-
They are indeed Microsoft controllers, but I was kinda vague; I've never actually used these two before. As far as I remember, the controller that came with my 360 didn't need to be calibrated. I just tried it, to no avail. Suggestions?

Wow, when was that? Just wanted to clean this one up. It's been a hit with some buddies and I over the last few weeks. But one of them had never seen or heard it until Sunday, at which point he proceeded to watch it about 60 times. It was from the first In Your House, before Sid's match with Diesel: JR: Sid, we all know that you can bring the heavy offence. But there's a lot of skeptics who think that maybe you can't take it. How do you address those skeptics? Sid: Well, the ske...skep...skep, and all the people...people who...Lemme do this again? JR: (surprised) This is live, pal! Sid: Oh, sorry! Anyone has any doubts, will get their answer tonight! (pouts as JR takes over). JR: There ya have it, Psycho Sid, a man of few words.

I meant to ask that myself; again, I think it had something to do with the poster tourney. -
Also, I kinda wanna see what the rogue posters would be like elsewhere at TSM, if/once released from the WWE prison.
-
To be fair to Marvin, I haven't given up on the Jays, and they're not that far ahead of the O's. As for CE? With his current thread, he's on his own. Come to think of it, I've gone to bat for him before, so maybe there's a theme here. Also, those two especially-bad WWE posters? Call 'em Corey and Trevor. Appease the Canadians!

No such luck; a fine performance by Andy Pettite. Still, it's even Steven today: the Sox and Rays both lose.

From a poster at tsn.ca: "Sources say Mats Sundin is very close to deciding what to have for breakfast tomorrow. Oatmeal, Froot Loops, and Toast are the three being tossed around, but Mats said 'Well, I never set a deadline. I guess some people think it's noon, but I'll decide when I'm ready'" He's got shit figured out, eh? He goes to Detroit or Montreal and wins a Cup. He goes to New York where he can make them a bonafide Cup contender and plays with his buddy. He can return to Toronto and be remembered, when all is said and done, as the guy who stuck it out for the blue and white (I don't see history remembering Teemu and Niedermayer's waffling this past season). Or he goes to Vancouver and makes ten million dollars. As impatient as I'm getting, I'd love to have him. I don't buy into anyone saying anything different if they're a fan of the teams mentioned above. When the papers read "SUNDIN A (insert team nickname), (same team's city)'s fans will be ecstatic. Conversely, I expect an awful lot of boo birds from the cities above that he snubs.
