Sadly, you're right. He's not goin anywhere.

Text from my Leaf-fan brother today: "Leafs resign Cujo. Nikolai Borshevsky's agent is playing hardball, though"

I'm confused by this cap as well; Is there a bonafide 'revenue sharing' program in place in any form? If that's not the case, convince me this steadily-climbing cap is good business.

Everything about this, save the addendum about Streit. He's not worth four million, but that doesn't offend me. Jeff Finger for 3.5 does..... Ryder scored 30 two years ago, and 30 three years ago. He'll bounce back. Maybe we could have had a "Declining players, increasingly pissing off TSMers" trade for Murray. So as nice as the scoring touch of a Hossa or Sundin would be, the key component to add to the Habs is leadership; they certainly have it in Koivu, and to a degree, Kovalev, but the gross underachieving in the playoffs tells me maturation is going to write the success story for this team. I realise Biron stood on his fucking head, but....know what? I have no clever way of saying 'beating a dead horse'. I like Tanguay, but he's a bit of a question mark - he'll fit like a glove in Montreal, but he underachieved in Calgary, and I don't think putting him under the microscope even moreso is the way to bring him back. We'll see. Get a leader, a #2 centre, and now, it appears, a stay-at-home d-man to play with Markov. I don't think any sexy moves need to be made; hey, it worked last year.

I'll echo this: I'm going to miss Streit, but the Isles need plenty more.

Board's updated. TakerHart's still on the clock, Gert has till 3am eastern to pick before it flips to MFer.
-
TakerHart and 909 are on the clock, regardless of how we look at it; We'll finish this round up on the eight-hour clock, then Round 18 can go back to twelve hours. Gert can select.

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread
CanadianGuitarist replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
Happy Belated, Max. And, I don't see anything wrong with wishing Canada a Happy Birthday here. -
Edit: Disregard. 909 corrected it. And I'd say, just on paper, that Emery's the best goalie on the market.
-
No, that was his make-up pic for Round 16, which he missed out on. Everything's back in order with EMHE's double pick....which, by the way, he didn't follow up with a PM. Let's step this shit up. (Thanks, Max) Defence, shmefence. It's time for a homer pick. My favourite player from sometime in 1993 when my parents separated and I no longer shared a name with a former NHLer(I won't name drop, but I've probably mentioned that before), until sometime in 95 when he was traded for Pierre Turgeon. He's going to, again, captain the team that St. Patrick carries to glory. Gentlemen:

I'm impressed by the (additional) firepower and (additional) leadership added by Tampa, but I agree with RB. Their problems have clearly been goaltending and defence (and to a degree, coaching): None of which they've addressed. Barry Melrose's mullet is awesome, but that don't pay the pickle man. Moreso, it's becoming increasingly likely they won't have their best defenceman as of midnight. On the other hand, I was underwhelmed (at least compared to a top-heavy offence), by the goaltending and defence of Pittsburgh and Detroit last September. We'll see, but I'm still thinking 'nay'.....for now.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
CanadianGuitarist replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
I can't get over this: He was an awesome, intense, RVD-like character named "Showtime" when he was an Indy wrestler (he used to wrestle for my buddy's indy fed), but I hated him as a mark. As a wimpy, goofball face: I mark the fuck out for him. Incidentally, he lost a 'hometown challenge' to Kurt Angle in 2005. -

The Things That Anger You Thread.

My inability to become anal about something is pissing me off lately: I keep meaning to keep keys and wallet in my right pocket, cell and Ipod in my left. I probably use the keys/wallet more, so I want easier access, and I don't want my keys scratching either of them; I can't get into a rhythm, and keep haphazardly stuffing them into whatever pocket. -
Yeah, good call. I like both Oilers that you got, but Visnovsky might be the league's most overlooked player........... Hey, if it worked once, why not try it again? Ryan Malone, for whom the Lightning traded a pick to negotiate with, is a Bolt. They've done much the same with the Wild to talk to Brian Rolston now.

Alright, here's where we stand: CC's pick of John Tonelli finished off Round 16. His pick of Dale Hunter officially started Round 17. It's technically EMHE's pick in Round 17, but both he and Angle did not select anyone in Round 16, so they're still on the clock for that; Thus, it's first come, first serve. EMHE can pick two players, but he's still off the clock again at 5:30 pm, Eastern. I'll allow for a little grace today on that, as I pick next anyway, but won't be home from work until about 10 Eastern. In short - pick it up, guys. It's entirely possible that we'll see EMHE and Angle, a la Max and CC, get two picks back-to-back.

COCKSUCKER! I'd have bet my junk he went undrafted. Now I need a tough guy defenceman to fight off O Reilly and Samuellson.
-
There's not too much blame to really do; several GM's did say they'd be gone for the weekend. Still, they could have pre-ranked, as Treble and EMHE have done. So, their loss; as a precaution, do make an effort to PM the guy ahead of you, or if you notice anyone's off the clock. Alright, I need some blueliners. One of the three d-men I have on my radar won't be taken, so that whittles it down. There's some sleeper forwards I really want, but I need to, at the least, finish up my second defence pairing. So, The Canadian Guitarists are pleased to welcome Ken Daneyko.

Help me with High School Geometry
CanadianGuitarist replied to Smartly Pretty's topic in General Chat
I'd wait until the hockey draft is over until he becomes your "Go To" guy. -
You're a day late. He cleared them, and will become a UFA. I'm not surprised he didn't get picked up from waivers; his stock has dropped pretty considerably, and I wouldn't take him at 7.4 a year either, but he'll get picked up if the price is right.

PM's are key in the NHL draft. My first pick, though it could be any of a number of similar matches, is a match I attended live: From ECW Hardcore TV on April 15, 2000 (though it was taped April 8): Super Crazy vs. Tajiri vs. Little Guido for the ECW TV title. This planted the seed of Tajiri as a face, and prompted one of the lines most-quoted ever by my buddies and I. Cyrus told the crowd he was going to hand the TV title to Rhino at Cyberslam: Cyrus: (hits the ring) Yes! Yes! Yes! Dammit! Yes! Ladies and gentlemen, your winner! The man who will hand the tv title to the network at Cyberslam! Joey Styles: (on commentary) WHAT!?!?!?! Cyrus: Yoshihiro......Tajiri! We've got it! I've got it! I'm bigger than life! I'm bigger than God, by God! I also liked the following mindless brawl between The Sandman and Rhino. I still have to say that being part of the Sandman's entrance through the crowd is one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of. I'll start off the 18th round with a forgettable match that I loved when I was 11; at the time I had no idea what kind of guys these two were backstage, but now, it probably wouldn't matter. This match was great, before it got overdone six-eight years later: Shawn Michaels vs Triple H for the WWF title on Raw, May 96.

That's god damned cheap. I was actually beginning to lean towards the 42-inch Vizio LCD that we'll be carrying starting July 14. 1080p, same price as the Sanyo I had my eye on, but response time is a little slower, and only two HDMI. I want three, baby, at least until 360 releases a BluRay add-on.

Tough luck, Nskie. And by tough luck, I mean, delightful news! *watches clock for next participant*

Supreme Court upholds the Right to Bear Arms
CanadianGuitarist replied to SuperJerk's topic in Current Events
I agree with this. -
And no, after all that, everything did in fact go in order. Makarov was Goblin's 15th round pick, Max's pick of Neal Broten led off the 16th round. Goblin is up. I'm going to PM Gert and have him pre-rank some guys for me, and I'll pick on his behalf. I'm working each day this weekend, but not the whole day, so if I don't select on Gert's behalf, proceed as though it was him. I swear I won't taint this.
