I'll brag about my last-second change to Boston, just for the sake of four Original Six teams in the Conference finals. Edit: Upon further review, it was Pittsburgh - I remember changing it from a Pennsylvanian team to Boston. I'm wrong, but not ridiculously wrong, on my division winners: Montreal, Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit, Dallas, Minny. Not to tear a strip off Nightwing, but when I posed a similar question around the All-Star Break, all our Cup picks were still pretty possible. Division winners could start a discussion or two, but given how good the playoff races are going to be, I think the who will/won't may not be answerable for another five or six weeks.

I haven't seen enough of Scott Van Pelt to hate him yet, but Stuart Scott painted himself into a corner after about 10 seconds.
-
It was an injury that meant the end of Waylon Mercy, right?
-
That makes sense. It tasted ketchup-y, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. 25k and 1% of sales to the winner.

Broadcast network: ABC: * With golf, why do they have the British Open, and only the British Open? I don't watch enough basketball to fairly comment on it, but their coverage seemed pretty good from what I've seen of it. Keep Monday Night Football as is, but get Kornheiser in a studio. He looks forty years older in the cold. CBS: * Keep it goin. Jim Nantz may have the best job in America. "Sports Spectacular" as a lead-in on Saturdays and Sundays is a great way to build a feel for that day's event, and honour tradition. Their golf coverage is still the best in the business, and they were wise to pick up Nick Faldo and Ian Baker-Finch when ABC lost golf. If I'm going to nitpick, get all of the FedEx Cup playoffs, or none of them. The first event out of four? That seems silly. FOX: * I hate the robots during NFL bumpers, and this has been mentioned, but why do they show yesterday's baseball highlights at 3:30/3:45? I don't really hate Joe Buck, but I wouldn't lose sleep if he was gone. NBC: * Same as the other two golf questions at ABC/CBS. Why the final three legs of the FedEx Cup, but not the first? Why the last leg of the West Coast Swing, then all of March before the Masters? (Although, that could be so CBS can bolster its Masters coverage). I do kind of like the 'only big event' feel NBC gets (Wimbledon, US Open, Ryder Cup, Kentucky Derby). If Johnny Miller left, I'd be thrilled, but I seem to be the only one who doesn't like him. I'd also like them to have Sunday hockey coverage not just starting after the All-Star Game, but all season. Surely a few matinees wouldn't interfere with football. Speaking of football, FNiA is great, but who the fuck gave Keith Olbermann a job there? I don't get any of the American cable channels, but have no problems with Canadian stations TSN, Sportsnet, or The Score. I'm sure some Canucks can pick up that slack.

Awesome Wrestling Pictures

Point well taken, but Bret seemed pretty tight with Undertaker from reading his book, and Pringle seemed to be pretty well-liked by a lot of people. I guess it wasn't until Bret refused to be cliquey that they stopped getting along. -
I agree, but there hasn't been as much bad blood evident compared to the game five weeks ago. Still, as you said, a playoff series would be phenomenal - these two games have been playoff hockey.

Marvin kinda eluded to Pioneer dropping their prices all over the place - they're probably still out of my +/- 1k budget, but I can say without hyperbole, having seen them on display next to other similar models, they're the frontrunners of plasma.

And......exhale.

Worst General Manager in any sport

Didn't Connie Mack trade all four of his infield starters at one point? I laid out my case for Rejean Houle a few months ago, but surely he's not the worst ever. -
They can't be charged to clear up cap space? Please, please, can't they be charged to clear up cap space? SO, how do I not understand your post? You said, basically "I'm just waiting for the Leafs to win the Cup, then implode. That's what Burke does." Yes, a Leafs Cup victory is that out of the question. The Habs have played well against the Sens this year - a bowl of Tim Horton's chili is on the line with my buddy who's a Sens fan.

I was hoping the title had something to do with stats, but this I like. What's my VORP?

I'm, like, really late to the party, but :

Awesome.

MY GOD YES!
-
No, I can't imagine why no one takes your hockey input seriously. Being the type of guy to find the sun in any grey, cloudy sky: If Hamrlik and the Kostistyns get arrested (or convicted), what happens to the Habs' cap space? Of course, that probably won't happen by the 4th, with our justice system. This stupid country.

I found this amusing: Press release around 8pm Wednesday: Steve Williams, caddy for Tiger Woods, says Tiger is "(just) weeks" from competing again. Roughly 4pm Thursday: Phil Mickelson, currently most famous for not getting along with Williams (after a career of 'most-famous-for' headscratchers), fires an -8 63, to take the first-round lead at Riveira. Press release about 15 minutes later: "Yeah, Tiger will be back at next week's tournament. See you all Monday."

Hockey uses a two-referee system. Why hasn't wrestling climbed aboard? Who the hell keeps leaving tables and ladders under the ring?
-
No Sunday games scheduled this year? 76-86 is my official prediction, 4th place, better than the Blue Jays at least. If they manage to finish better than that I will be ecstatic. I was thinking the same thing, actually (though inversed).
-
They've looked better the last two games, at least.
-
What rumour are you talking about?
-
I was kind of disappointed with those, actually. The cheese was good, but the pepperoni was iffy. I've become something of a pepperette connossieur(sic) over the last two years. I've always thought they were a perfect snack when I'd fill my tank up or go to a variety store and need something to justify my use of debit, but when I spent about two months as a bread guy and went to 70 convenience stores a week, I went on a pepperette-testing marathon.
-
I'm fine with that. At the risk of coming off a little very attractive in a way that I can't explain, one of the most memorable moments of seeing Rush in '04 was listening to "Somebody Told Me" on the way home. Edit: Since when have been word filtering that?

Musings: *I must have been drunk a few weeks ago, because I have no idea with this logo tattooed on my arm is supposed to represent. * I also hate Pierre McGuire. * I can't remember being more impressed by a save than Kipper's Tuesday night. * Two very good games last night and tonight in Calgary/Landover - I'm really looking forward to more of it Saturday on Hockey Day In Canada, which is always a good day of television. Edmonton-Calgary should be a great game, with the bad blood already there, but playoff positioning becoming very, very tense. Oh, wait. I said"fuck hockey" Sunday night. I stick by that. Forget everything I just wrote.

Pretty reasonable reaction. I said I hated jerky, not freedom.
