Here's where we stand: * I, too, am fine with the eight-hour rule. Consider it implemented as of....now. * Five teams still have no coach. I'm not insisting any select one right away or anything, just noting it as an interesting stat. I am insisting, however, that the four teams without names get on that: EMHE, Gert, Treble, and JJ. Treble, work the Holiday Inn guy into your name for my amusement please. There has to be some kind of "Oh, that was your vocation?" feed. * What rip-off trade was Duchesne in? EDIT: Ah yes, the Lindros deal. That dawned upon me while researching my next point, which you can see at the bottom of the page. My friend Gillap looks like Pavel Datsyuk. Up until about 4pm Eastern, the bulk of this post was me thinking aloud as to how to demonstrate this. For all the David Cross-ity I bring to the board, one of the guys I've debated this with thinks I look like Martin Gerber. JJ Johnson is up.

Token Buster Bluth reference.

Fuck! Let's step it up with the PM's please.

Like it was Tuesday morning in the OaO Raw threads, can I get a rundown of yesterday's draft? Trades, and did they actually boo Bettman?

I genuinely thought I was the only person alive who didn't like ranch dressing in any form. And on that note, I have to tell this story.....again. June 1, 2007 (I'm unfuckingreal with dates), I walk into work, offering a handshake to the college kid I was to work with that evening. "Rob", I said, "I gotta shake your hand after a recipe like that!" (explanation to follow, I don't want the story to overshadow the ranch tie-in). The thirty-year-old virgin we worked with said "Well, aren't ya gonna shake my hand?" "Sure, but you got a recipe?" He proceeds to make a marquee with his hands as he shouts in a Vince McMahon voice: "LEMON SQUARES!" As for the recipe in question: Two nights prior, Rob and I had worked together as well, and we were discussing potatoes. He suggested putting ranch dressing in mashed potatoes, of which I abhorred the thought, but he then threw out suggestions which included dill-pickle brine, which was fantastic.

Towards this end, the owner of Jumpin Jak's is the most shrewd businessman alive. It's opposite Big Bucks, a bar that's nearly all college kids - closes at two, kitchen at midnite. Lots of apartments, so good customer base. Open at 6pm, close at 4am. Every single menu item is greasy but delicious, even sober: taco fries, pitas/wraps, bacon/egg sammiches.

RedBaron and I were in the Sony Store the other day, and we saw an OLED on display. My god, that article wasn't lying, it was magnificent. A million-to-one contrast ratio (and just saying it, even compared to what we know, doesn't do it justice). Not only that, how thin it was: it really was as thick as a credit card, On the other hand, they had some PS3's on display (on a plasma, not an OLED). Now, we've both played our 360's in HD, and were impressed with how stable and crisp the picture looked. But we thought NBA 08 looked pretty grainy. I suppose that it could just be that game, but still; BluRay did look stellar on the plasmas, though.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

This was brought up I think, but I can't understate how much I despise the jingle. On the other hand, it's good marketing, as I still remember it, even though I only heard it once....two months ago....in another country. -
I don't think it's a stretch to say Sports is the best folder here. Updates, schmupdates - things are fine.

A multiple-time 40-goal scorer. Patty Verbeek. You're up, Angle.

My first pick is not a classic, but perfectly acceptable mid-card wrestling: Ken Shamrock vs. The Rock, Wrestlemania XIV Second, I'll take Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome from Heatwave 98.

Top of my list survived, and though I'm re-thinking it to a degree, I'm striking while the iron is hot. I have a tough guy who can score, but I need a prick who can score. We'll see Ulf-Neely later on, and now 909 has a reason to hate me. My pick has a Conn Smythe trophy, and won Cups with three different teams. Gentlemen, my pick is Claude Fucking Lemieux! Pick, EMHE.

The very reason I started this thread: My five favourite talkers of all time. 5) Cyrus 4) Kurt Angle 3) Bobby Heenan 2) Ric Flair 1) Jake Roberts
-
Five favourite heel characters: 1) Pro-Canadian Bret, 1997 2) Bratty lil brother Owen - any time from 93-97. 3) First-run ECW Raven, 94-97. 4) Team Canada's Lance Storm, 2000 5) Either member of Money Inc., at any point between 87-93. Honourable mention to Cyrus. Also, I've been meaning to get this thread started for months, but was never able to compile my list of the five best talkers.

I don't want Hossa anywhere near a Habs uniform......but I once said the same about Kovalev; on the other hand, I said it about Samsonov. We'll see. Igor Larianov is to be inducted into the Hall this year. His counterpart will re-open the 'who's the best player not in' debate. Yes, finally, Glenn Anderson.

to the second sentence. Bang-on to the first. -
I think Puking Guy is enough of a meme to warrant a Smarkipedia entry, but it has to be noted that the guy was wearing a Hartford Whalers shirt. For how often I drink, I throw up pretty rarely, at least by proportion. When my buddy was dating an ex that I hated, I was drunk for our first four outings. I threw up each time. I like that coincidence; she did not.

Fucking everyone, and that's not encouraging peer pressure on you. Know what else? People seem to say "bill" a lot referring to their receipt. -

Depends by what you mean by memorable. Actually, either way I don't see it. Winning the Masters by 12 in 1997 or winning the Open by 15 in 2000 will be more memorable in restropect due to the complete domination. The 2005 Masters duel with Chris Dimarco was more memorable as a competitive tourney. And the 2000 PGA was fantastic as well. I really hate the whole round playoff for the Open. Especially having a job and missing it. If it was a sudden death format, Tiger would have already won after the 1st hole. There was a column in Golf Digest about that, a month following Retief Goosen's playoff win at Southern Hills in 01. Had the US Open used the playoff format of any other major, Mark Brooks would have won: He lead after one, three, and four holes.

First, I'll take RVD/Sabu vs. Hayabusa/Shinzeki from Heatwave 98. Next, Bret Hart vs Hakushi from IYH 1.

I love mine, but have never used it for anything but stir-fry.

TSN's got it in Canada. Espn 12-2, NBC 2-4. I actually could see this being pretty hard to watch; With golf actually taking place in ninety-or-so-second intervals, there's a lot of small talk by announcers and filler; the same principle applies to the weekend of the Match Play. To add to that, I've about hit my Johnny Miller boiling point for the week. Even so, it'd have been nice to at least flip it on for a bit. But, even with Mondays being my only day off for the week, I was called in, which I suppose is karma for my parade of overtime to accommodate leaving early today.
