My first pick of two is one I'm surprised hasn't been taken; I remember when I selected my 4-way tag match, I didn't think it would be long before the ten-man from Raw went. In the same vein, I thought that this would be picked shortly after the selections of Austin-Benoit, and TLC II. Jericho-Benoit vs. Edge-Christian vs. Hardys vs. Dudleys. Smackdown May 2001. Four-way ladder match for the tag titles. A definite spotfest, but a fantastic match. I'm gonna make a FOURTH Bret-HBK pick. The Youtube video now has Jesse Ventura's amusing commentary edited out, but even solo Vince can't wreck this match: The Rockers vs. The Hart Foundation, SNME 90.

The day after Euro 2004, a guy came into my Wal*Mart and told me he was banished to the couch. He was Portugese, and threw his beer bottle through the television when Greece scored. That is all.

ICP fans give their baby a Jullago funeral.
CanadianGuitarist replied to Youth N Asia's topic in No Holds Barred
Grew UP to be? The hell? How can anyone above the age of 16 even listen to ICP? How can anyone above the age of 13 "act like a juggalo"? -
The fuck if I'm putting cinammon in it. I've tinkered with it plenty. And if anyone here analyses a few of my posts, the secret ingredient will be pretty obvious.

What turned DX face in 98? I'm astonished I don't remember this, considering how much I re-watched Raw in that timespan. I remember Xpac coming back, a brief feud with the DOA (with the DOA as faces!). I recall DX pissing on the DOA's bikes, but still being heels the following week. My next memory was about six weeks later, when Owen Hart interfered in the HHH-Xpac KOTR qualifier.

Until I saw the dates, I thought you meant Mickelson's caddy. This is much worse. What an amazing, unique career. RIP.

There's two recent players I'm kind of surprised that haven't been taken yet (many of their former teammates have). And while I think they're not going to last, I'm going to roll the dice in two ways: I'll gamble that one (or both) will be here for me later on. I'll also gamble by using the Griffey Rule with my pick. My pick has an impressive resume: Nothing from Lord Stanley, but a Memorial Cup, a Hart Trophy, a Pearson Trophy, a Canada Cup, and Olympic Gold and Silver. My team has no tough guys right now, and though this guy could score, he'll probably be most remembered for his size. That's discounting the Griffey thing - we all know what he'll be rememebred most for: Quebec never had Le Gros E, but the Canadian Guitarists do. Gentleman, my pick in the ninth round is Eric Lindros.
-
I was right: Even though my coach has remained under the radar, I feel I'm lucky to have him available to me, so I'll take him (even with defencemen dwindling). He never won the big one, but his resume includes a President's Trophy, an honourary degree from MacMaster, a spot in the HHOF, and broken ground such as videotape analysis of teams. I'm proud to select Captain Video, Rulebook Roger Neilson.

I love it when Canadians live out their stereotypes in text form as well. Give me back my chili recipe. If you know it by heart, forget it.

Kudos on your enthusiasm, but I couldn't tell you more than three or four likely draftees this year.

Well, shit. Walmart's new TV mod (which starts July 14) will have some 1080p's on it, including a 42" Sanyo and Vizio for 999. I'm back to the drawing board.

I'll take my first Rumble, since they're typically my favourite matches. The 2001 Royal Rumble match, while pretty predictable, has a tonne of replay value: All the Hardcore guys in the span of 10 or 15 minutes, The Honky Tonk Man, Drew Carey. This is a very easy match to (re)watch. I'll start round six with a match that isn't great, but is still more than watchable, just because of the hype, the feel, the great commentary:

I'm the ice cream man. I'm a one man band.
CanadianGuitarist replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Food Folder
Who was on a powetrip one time in TCS, tiring someone? Was it Czech? It probably was, because I'm tired of his fucking powertrip. Not really, but Iced Coffee in a discussion with Ice Cream? FUCK that noise. -
I'm in a bit of a rush, so no pics for now. My first pick is going to open the door for one I'm still surprised is on the board: Four Corners Tag from Raw two weeks before Summerslam '98: Austin/Taker vs. Kane/Mankind vs. New Age Outlaws vs. Rock/Dlo Brown/Owen Hart. My second pick is from ECW Hardcore Heaven 99: Jerry Lynn vs Rob Van Dam.

My buddy and I were just discussing the shot of the bar in Harbour Grace. Would Cleary be the first Newfoundlander to win a Cup? We both think he'd be the second, but neither of us can recall whom.
-
So do I. I also recall him doing a fist-pump, to the chagrin of his fiancee, in January when Farrah Fawcett was ill. I don't feel an ounce of pity over him not breaking 100 during a round of golf, however.
-
Crosby and Zetterberg.

Good pick. Re: that pic - Small world, eh? When my folks were married, she took on his name, and I was Brian Mullen for about four years. I'm gonna go with the d-man; I think my coach can remain under the radar. Members of the OHL's all-rookie and all-star teams, as well as the NHL's all-rookie team. Perennial all-star and Norris candidate, and has Olympic, World Cup, and World Championship gold. Jovocop.
-
Both, but moreso Salming, yeah. I've got another d-man in mind, but he's a silver medal; and I'm still torn between him and the coach I had in mind.
-
For picking him? Or for slapping all 1992-1997 Leafs fans in the face? Even as a long-time Habs fan, I'll remember Dougie as a Leaf....and I always liked him.
-
Nor had I until that point, but it turns out most do. We shall see.
-
Damn, that is a good pick. I have a dilemma. One of my aforementioned sleepers made it through, and there's a coach I'm surprised wasn't picked. But quality defencemen are dwindling. Know what, I'll cross my fingers and go with my first instinct. My jersey number has always been 16, thanks to my Dad, who was also 16. Appropriately, my selection is his favourite player. And speaking of #16, that's where my pick ranks in points all-time. He was the first Toronto Maple Leaf to hit 100 points, instantly made the Leafs better in 1992, and you could make a case that no other player in NHL history was as beloved by a city was this man was in Toronto. I have a 'killer' pick this round. I'm also going to piss off every Leaf fan I know with the picture I've chosen.
-
God yes. I just bought some by accident yesterday.

To further my question from earlier, the same buddy said the picture maintains its integrity since it's a 1080 native res and most things are shown in 1080i. Still, it's becoming inreasingly likely my next TV will be 720p. I was actually looking at the Toshiba HL57 again. I paid 1050 for the 37-inch model last September, and a 42-inch model is now 900. The only thing I wasn't happy about with it was the lack of ATSC/Qam tuners.
