The Score HD is(was) notorious for the 16:9 stretching. I haven't seen that network for about six weeks now, but up until about mid-January, nearly everything on it was stretched out. The last time I saw it, SD shows were in 4:3 with 'The Score' logos running down the side. That's undoubtedly the way to go, IMO.

It could easily be Photoshopped into something phallic, but that's a really good pic of Niedermayer. Nskie, have at 'er.

I've gotta say, for this round, the Eliminators were a great pick. I've been following along, but they're a team that probably would have flown under my radar.

Sorry. I'm lacking too, as the Canadian Stampede match (and the ending with the Harts) could be my favourite twenty minutes of wrestling anywhere, ever.

I would assume the set-top box converts the picture to a conventional analogue signal in order to output it through whatever it is hooked up to the VCR with. coaxial and composite (RCA) cables are analogue formats, so I would assume a conversion is happening before the signal gets to the VCR. Side note: I wonder how many people besides me can go back and read older portions of this thread and want to punch themselves for how misinformed they were in certain older posts. Yes to the side note, but it comes out in the wash to a degree; Most of it was thinking outside the box and ensuring I could answer any questions at work before they came up. But yeah, some of them were really out there.

I'll happily do some run-throughs of TNMT, Street Fighter and Paperboy with ya, all of which I have; keep in mind my score whoredom.

I'm going to go with a sleeper as my second pick, but a TSM favourite: Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart, Wrestlemania XIII, IC title on the line. This was great (yet overlooked) match, and how highly Bret spoke of both Roddy and the match in his book makes it even better.

When I left the house this morning, I had four picks in mind. They were picks 3-7. I'm amazed this one didn't go, actually: Wrestlemania XII, Savage-Warrior retirement match.

I, too, used to be indifferent to achievements. Then Condemned. Then my roomate told me about Avatar. Now, though I've cooled off, I'm a bonafide scorewhore.

1) What is everyone's take on the Insignia brand? I've lowered my ceiling on TV prices in the fall when I return home, but there's an Insignia on for 999 right now, which was pretty well my cap. It's 40 inches, what is what I was roughly looking for, and 1080 res, which I was also looking for. 1a) Is it worth the extra money to invest in 1080p? The bulk of my viewing is going to be in 720p since I primarily watch sports anyway, but for news and anything else I might watch....I was perfectly happy with my 37hl57, which had a 768 NR. Buddy of mine tells me it's a night and day difference with programs shot in 1080i since it's not stretching the signal in any way. I've kind of made a case in my head that "what I don't know won't hurt me". Thoughts? 2) How will the digital switch effect VHS tapes? Obviously, it won't record without the set-top box, but can a blank tape handle a digital broadcast? 3) Same question for DVD recorders. A co-worker today said that only DVI, VGA, and HDMI are digitally-sent cables. If that's true, isn't Digital Video Disc grossly misleading?

My brother was teasing me about Nickelback in the summer of '05. I made the case to be loyal to Canadian rock, and he said there was enough decent Canadian artists/bands to be allowed to hate them. (I've since labelled them as having Oasis syndrome). Having said that (and he's right), Baron laid out a good case; Maybe '05 was a little late for my brother to be making that revelation. My brother also claims to have called Social Services on a co-worker who took his 11-year-old daughter to see Nickelback for her birthday.

Good pick. This and the next round I think are really going to make up the meat-and-potatoes of some of these rosters, and really give some teams an identity. Smartly, all you.

As for the international question: The answer, technically, is yes. Picks can be based on international careers/accomplishments. Since we're doing fantasy picks at the end, it's up to you to sell us on your players and their stats, and it's going to be easier to buy a team full of NHL'ers (see Baron's question about One-Eyed Joe Malone). I'd also like to see a two-to-three-day window between the end of the draft and the start of the playoffs, in which each GM can further sell us on their teams, etc.

Goblin, it's your pick. I know CC's chart read that Max was next, but Goblin is the only guy left with a roster of two....unless I missed a pick. From here on in, draft will continue as normal. How does the NFL draft rule work? I'd like to implement some kind of 'just in case', but need a little more info.
