Time's up, EMHE. Pity pick at the end of the second round, a la Baron's pick of Toe Blake. I'm gonna go outside the box again. My pick for the most underrated player ever is still notably unselected, but I'm gonna go with the second active forward in the draft. My third pick is the first Russian to win the Hart, part of arguably hockey's best line ever (1989 Juniors), a three-time Cup winner. One of the most exciting players in the history of the game. Perhaps his greatest achievement of all? Railing Anna Kournikova. My pick is: Sergei Fedorov. TakerHart, the floor is yours.

This one I'm right on. Tiger's skipping the Memorial, but will be back for Torrey Pines. Who's the favourite? Especially keeping in mind Phil has the lead at Colonial, and a decent record at Torrey, including a win over Tiger in 2000. I know that contradicts everything I said two days ago, but there was a period where I really really wanted Greg Norman to win a Green Jacket.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. But yeah, I'm guilty as well. Mostly guilty of it during my area code, 905, but that's because Niagara switched to ten-digit dialing a few years ago, and EVERYBODY says 'nine-oh-five'. -
Also, 12 forwards were acceptable, as opposed to 4/4/4.

So much of a beast, in fact, that he was drafted four picks ago by Gert. Try again.

I could very well wind up with a roster full of guys I dislike. To that end, Brett Hull. Despite a lack of success at the World Juniors, won two Cups. A surprisingly low 20th all-time in points, but 741 goals puts him third all-time in that statistic. Perhaps one of the three or four best pure goal-scorers ever. Sidenote: I'm disappointed I couldn't find a picture of him hawking that GT Snowrider. My buddy Matt still claims to have that poster.

I agree; you couldn't find a much better pic than that. Angle, the floor is yours.

CanadianGuitarist replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
I remember someone saying a few years ago in a Raw thread (I believe it was part of This Week In Wrestling History, when the showed the nWo forming) about what it would be like to read a PPV thread here, from a live, classic show (say, our reactions to Hogan or Austin turning, or Bret getting screwed,etc.). I thought that was a really cool concept, and it sounds like Kamala is putting it into practice here. -
UndertakerHart, you're on the clock.
-
I get to say that! So Gert, um,.....you're up.
-
EDIT: I'm not saying anything here re: Bowman, lest I give any ideas away.

Nskie, your pick.

I don't think it's a stretch to say the Caps will be Cup contenders in two or three years. But here is not the place for that. Treble, make your pick, under the graces of my obligatory Holiday Inn Guy comment.

I agree with Baron to an extent. There's no disputing how good Detroit's defencemen are, but it's not a stretch to say that Chelios and Lidstrom could be huffing and puffing against a speedy team like Pittsburgh (who they haven't been up against all year, mind you). And though it does apply to Pittsburgh as well, many of the Red Wings have played 100 games now this season - that's a lot to ask, stellar conditioning or not, of two guys in the twilights of their careers. I still give the nod, both the series and the head-to-head defence matchup, to the Wings; but Baron is not incorrect.

Where did I hear what? Here's the article. A combination of wishing and a 11pm reading; I read it as "isn't expected to play the U.S. Open", not "isn't expected to return until"

Yes. One of my favourite drunk stories of me ever was throwing up in a Subway after a night of drinking....while wearing a Subway employees shirt I had bought at a second-hand store prior. Also, I've been advocating Quizno's to my Subway-loving roomate for a while now. Interestingly, I never thought of the drunk aspect of it. Why is that?

Speaking of Tiger, sounds like he's going to play the The U.S. Open. So, who's the favourite at Torrey Pines now? Mickelson's got a good record there, but could be to the U.S what Norman was to the Masters - plus he hasn't been stellar the last little bit.

Welcome back. Re: the tourney. If whatif doesn't do what Nskie suggested, I'll randomly draw up some divisions, and arrange an inter-division round robin, to be voted upon by three out-of-division GM's. Playoff bracket to follow. If anyone else has ideas, throw 'em out there, we still have forseeably a couple of weeks before push comes to shove. Smartly, you're up.

Would anyone, except Star Ocean? Wings in six.
-
I remember him ending a promo with it sometime in the summer of 99, but I'm pretty sure it was on Raw. We may be thinking of different promos, however.
-
I was thinking a fantasy tournament.

Yeah, that's probably it, EHME. Each pick is assumed at the player's peak, so it's sort of a combination of reasons. Most people are explaining or 'selling' their picks, but it's basically an individual's reasoning behind each pick. I'm a little surprised Orr went so low as well.

I hated that so much because the word french in this instance doesn't have a damn thing to do with France. Its a culinary term meaning "cut lengthwise" I had no idea it was a culinary term. I just thought it was stupid.

Baron's up again, by 8:11 Wednesday morning. Since I'm ostensibly working until about 6 eastern tomorrow, that's his cut-off.
