Anyone ever read any books on, or see anything about, Ben Hogan? (And by anyone, I mean the four-ish people beside me here who follow golf.) My piece-readings of him have given me mixed opinions - either way, I've become very interested in his life. On the one hand, he was, by all accounts, a prick. On the other hand, the way he reacted during his '49 car crash should negate that. And even without looking at his personal character, there's plenty of interesting stories about him: his father's suicide when he was 11, the car-jacking in his 30's, a .1000 winning percentage at the Open, a sort-of rivalry with Snead and Nelson, reverence from nearly every great golfer and writer ever, and 'The Swing' secrets. I'm fascinated by all these details, but I still don't know how I feel about him altogether,

My list when it was last posted, around a year ago: 1) Johnny Under - ClarkNova 2) Gimme Shelter - The Stones 3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip 4) No Excuses - Alice in Chains 5) Trampled Underfoot - Led Zeppelin 6) Stinkfist - Tool 7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd 8) Far Behind - Candlebox 9) Fine Again - Seether 10) Eulogy - Tool Now - I'd say: 10) Renegades of Funk - Rage 9) Fine Again - Seether 8) Welcome Burden - Disturbed 7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd 6) Grace, Too - The Hip 5) No Excuses - Alice in Chains 4) YYZ - Rush 3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip 2) Johnny Under - Clarknova 1) Gimme Shelter - The Stones Rotate in Trampled Underfoot still, along with When The Levee Breaks. Far Behind is definitely off the list. Authority Zero's Mexican Radio, Tool's Stinkfist, Eulogy, and The Pot (I know, Corey) could all make the Top Ten at any given point as well.

On paper? Yes. In practise? Hell no. There was no reason for the Bruins to take it to 7, and they did. There was no reason for the Flyers to win this series, and they did. I think experience is the missing ingredient here. Then again, I said the same thing would prevent Washington from getting into the playoffs..... If Ryder had been dressed, it would have been a farewell skate, anyway. I can't find a picture of South Park's Mr. Slave, but: Jesus Christ!

Coming soon: Another CG avatar/sig contest!

My facebook status said I was going to kill and eat RJ Umberger. I also BBQ'd some hamburgers during the second intermission. Yet, I couldn't tie these two together, ala a Czech sitcom. Everyone but Joey, help?

Is it excessively hokey to put my grandfather on that list?

I was wondering the same thing about Brunstrom. Even with his quotes mentioned above, a pre-signing tour is at bit presumptious, isn't it? Fabian Brunstrom also sounds like the name of an agent, as opposed to a player.

Alright, not a bad start. Two well-earned goals, 1/2 on the man-advantage. We looked a bit sloppy early, but passes are looking better, and the crowd is great. I'd still like to see a little more effort when there's loose pucks, but I've been saying that all playoffs.

I'm gonna go with Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Tommy Douglas, Mike Weir, and Wayne Gretzky.

Has Murray said anything about stepping down? Not that I don't believe you, I just really want to hear him talk as much as possible.

This - especially after moving to Calgary three weeks ago, and having a dozen or so interviews in that time.

Spicy Chicken from Wendy's. Hell, nearly any kind of chicken.

To what end?

I already mentioned the MiniMasters on your behalf, Baron.

That was actually 95, but I wholeheartedly agree, I thought the mixed teams was a really cool concept - one I'd still like to see from time to time to this day.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Me too! It only seems to apply with lettuce too, for some reason. Every other sub post has had some validity, but I don't ever see too many of anything added to my sammich except for lettuce. I don't know why but the 'Ya gotta get the good one!" guy for Windsor Pellets drives me up the wall. I REALLY hated the commercial a year ago when he was shaving. -
In this thread: share your own motivational posters.

You're a hack, British Guy with a million names. -
Picnic Finals Corn on the Cob Bread Finals Garlic Bread Taters! French Fries Grains and Grains Couscous Corn on the cob, as predicted, does indeed knock out my nominee. Garlic bread vs cheddar biscuit was a CLOSE call

There's two Rusty Cages in Calgary.

No sister? You're in the clear. I think. -

Two nights ago, I had a dream in which Czech did a 'Justify Your Existence'....to the entire music folder! I went into the music folder, and it was empty except for a pinned thread with several people declaring their love for said folder. -
Don't you and RedBaron hang out together? Did you go with him? Because if you do... Hot black ladies here don't go to that wack ass Crack Alley club. That club is for emo losers for the most part and nappy ass cracked out bitches. I've only went there twice in my life and had a horrible time. Ever been to Wolfman's? Still gonna tell me Back Alley is bad? Actually, I was told Back Alley was like a bar we went to when we lived in St. Kitts called Big Bucks - all college kids. But, the difference was that Back Alley played better music than six playings of the Pussycat Dolls a night.

Is there a specific reason? Lesser tv-watching during the summer?

Now that I'm sober, having just woken up: I still think Julien should have been the third nominee, but Nightwish, sorry for saying fuck you. A friend of mine who's a Leafs fan texted me from a concert she was at and asked for updates last night - after the game, we discussed what a rough week it'd been for me sports-wise, with the Raptors and likely the Habs being eliminated, and the Jays losing seven of eight. Couple this with having to look forward to the Raiders.....eee. For some reason, she kept insisting on knowing the price of gas in Calgary.

Of course, could you have absolutely dominated all opponents outside of your division? I mean, they won the President's Trophy (Not just their division) despite their weaker record against the Central. Just sayin'... And weren't people here saying Philly wasn't going to be in the playoffs at the start of the season? I'm not sure how long Biron's good graces are going to last, but he might carry them to the finals if he can keep up his momentum. Of course, the rest of the team is going to have to step up a bit as well. Now let's see if the Sharks can keep this one goal lead, or if they truly are gutless wonders. I think they actually might take this game especially with some of the sloppiness Dallas is showing. Well, fuck you, just sayin. Claude Julien took an AHL team to the playoffs, against the New York Yankees of the NHL. Just sayin. And this is from a HABS fan - defending the Bruins! I thought Philly might sneak into the playoffs, but I didn't see them with a 3-1 lead at this stage, regardless of who they were matched up against. Edit: It'd be awfully nice to change the countdown in my sig.
