2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

Agreed about Theodore, and not just because of his poor play the last two games. Budaj has looked solid. The officiating in this game is pretty ridiculous. Five straight penalties, including two minutes of 5-on-3? Pretty soft penalties called against a team that's down by four.

I agree with this, but also with Baron's statement below. He certainly didn't intentionally knee-on-knee him. If it had turned out to be a hip check, play continues. A knee, incidental or not, is a penalty.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

I can think of at least 21,273 people who disagree with me, but I don't hate Daniel Briere.

In the four games against the Flyers this season, Markov and Kovalev each have six points. I'm looking for a lot out of Alex K this series.

    Who You Crappin'?

Since I'm not a Sens fan, I can't possibly do the justice that Alexei Yashin should get. I'll leave it up to CC.

    Who You Crappin'?

The first lie (or not-a-truth) that I thought of was Peter Karmanos, who pretty well moved the Hartford Whalers to Raleigh in the middle of the night. This is underscored by my desire to see a Whaler Marvin again. I'm not entirely sure if this is what you were after Czech, but, fuck, sometimes those HoeDowns can be tough to come up with on the spot.

    The Golf Thread - April

As Czech can tell you, the Dave Loggins-penned "Augusta" will soon be welcoming us to the broadcast, but for the first time, on ESPN instead of USA. Yes, The Masters, in all its splendour, starts in a week. Before my favourite sporting event of the year, however, the tour stops in Houston at Redstone, and the ladies have their first major of the year starting this week as well, with the McDonald's LPGA. It's also Rory Sabbatini's bday, as Wilbon mentioned on PTI today, before Tony called him "your boy". I'm glad that co-incided with a college hoops coach they were talking to suggesting that he "take over for Wilbon". I hate that Sabbatini.

Since when are white head-shavers racist? Steve Austin superceded the Skinheads, I think. I'll give an example I just heard, but you can be pissed-off along with me during nearly any sporting event: "The Grey Goose 19th Hole. Brought to you by.....Grey Goose!"

The Master of Side Dishes Tournament

Wait, I just read the second part of Mazto's post. A substitution is fine, but fuck broccoli.

The Master of Side Dishes Tournament

Thank you. Can I get away with a potato chip/dill pickle combo, a la a Jewish delicatessen? Probably not, but everything else I would suggest is up there. Corn on the cob, baked beans, scalloped potatoes - this is anyone's (anything's?) tourney.

The Atlanta Braves of the NHL.

You'd pull for the Habs? With the exception of Sharks in 6, I have the same picks.

    The Old School questions thread

Good call. Forgot about the Southern Justice label. I had no idea that they used it when they were in WCW. Come to think of it, I may have my facts mixed up with this. I think Southern Justice were in WWE, not WCW. But anyway, the name still stands. Right, they were Jeff Jarrett's hired muscle during JJ's second WWF stint. They weren't around long, were they? I remember them interfering during a Nation-DX match a few weeks before Summerslam; That was the first I'd seen them, and the only other time I remember them, and this is pretty vaguely (if it's even correct), was at Breakdown or Judgement Day.

As much as I dislike Roenick, I gotta give him credit - he was freakin' clutch.

I see this all the time, it pisses me off the most during advanced greens when there's traffic turning from 12 to 9 o clock.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - first round

Bang on. I would have loved to see Sid vs Ovechkin, at least for a little bit - not, however, at the expense of a Habs-Rangers series; I want no part of that, especially with a 4-0 record against the Flyers this year.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - first round

Baron and I have been tossing this one around for a few days: Who has the most Cups among active players? Hockey-reference.com couldn't answer it, but we're surrrrrrrre it's Niedermayer.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

How will the gulag be effected, if at all, by Leena's banning? It was pretty well just for her, wasn't it? At least by design?

The Bruins, as you said, deserve a hell of a lot of praise. They took the East's best team to the limit, and out played them for five or six games. Having said that, I welcome the Flyers (hopefully). Can Philly possibly revert the regular-season trend the way Boston did? I fucking hope not. I'm also not eager to beat the Rangers moreso than a Pens-Caps series, as cool as that would be.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - first round

I'm just really, really glad that the Habs legitimately won a game. They dove A LOT during this series, and this was probably the only game outside #1 that they didn't dive or fuck-up their way to a victory.

    Favorite Build-ups?

SS 98 with Austin-Taker was the first that came to mind. But, and it's probably slanted given how unreal the match was, but Austin-Bret; Even Todd Pettengill couldnt derail this.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - first round

This must sound at least mildly ridiculous.....that could be the best award race of the year. There's a legitimate six or seven contenders for it.

Mac and cheese - side dish. Kraft Dinner - meal. I didn't make the rules here.
