Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Fuck whoever closed the Movie tournament. Not that it was an epic thread or anything, I just really really really wanted to post a picture of Little Big League. Although, I kinda wanted it to continue. Four-Post Leena swingin his/her axe would have been entertaining; If Czech couldn't handle the Best Poster tourney, I'd love to see new guy/girl implode.

    Raw 3/10/08

    I'm very interested in how this entire-Raw roster thing plays out. I'm tuning in next week;

Oh yeah, I meant to vent over this: Pierre McGuire last week on Off The Record's "Next Question". Landsberg: In one word, describe the recent play of the Senators. McGuire: Not good. Jarome Iginla has passed Theo Fleury to become the Flames all-time leading goal scorer. He also had an assist earlier on, it's currently 4-2 Flames. Edit: It just became 6-2, in the span of a minute. Whatever Keenan said while practising this morning, it worked.

Rangers win 3-2 in a shootout. Thirteen straight games with at least a point, and they're into a tie for 5th.
  5. I know this doesn't answer the question, and further beats a dead horse, but no need to increase scoring per se. Scoring chances are more exciting. I'd rather watch a 3-2 game with 50 shots a piece than an 8-6 shootout.

Did anyone see what got Roy suspended? Thursday he was standing on the bench, yelling at Philly; Tortorella was yelling at him to sit down and shut up, finally physically forcing him to do so. One week without pay.

    TSM Town Hall: Elimination Chamber

I haven't seen enough to fairly answer the question, but here's my nickel with three pennies back: Once a year. Same show each year: Give it to Raw and SD gets HIAC, or vice versa. The intrigue of it is what makes it special. Having it on the same show would give it a unique allure; imagine if there were three Royal Rumbles a year. And I prefer the idea of having it for the #1 contendership rather than a title match. The title shouldn't need a gimmick, and it opens the door for re-hashed booking (heel champion finds a way to overcome the odds). I still like it altogether, however.

My dad and I have talked about that a lot; As much as we like Crosby, Ovechkin should be the guy on talk shows. He's so colourful in his interviews, Crosby comes off as store-bought most of the time.

    I haven't thought about this since 1996.

No, I was using it as a bail-out. If it took me two years before giving up, but someone did it here in ten minutes, I was covering my bases by saying time actually went backwards when I was trying it, in an attempt to not look stupid. Teh phail.

I don't recognise it either. My grade 4 thing, which I gave up on in 1996 was: Draw a square, with an X in the centre. Don't lift your pencil off the paper, and don't go over the same line twice. If anyone figures it out reasonably quickly, I actually started grade 4 in 1997.

    Xbox 360

Everything on your hard drive will be fine, and the RROD is covered for three years. As far as good news goes with this situation, I was told it'd take a month for my 360 to be back and running again, but it took two weeks. Additionally, two buddies had theirs back in nine and five days, respectively.

I actually listened to the shootout (11/12 on Pro Line....again), the play-by-play guys said it was actually a really good game, even with the lack of scoring. Moreso, those points are big for both teams, especially with Washington losing again today; the Caps and Buffalo are probably the only two teams left with any chance of getting into the playoffs; even though Florida and Washington are both six back, the clock's against the Panthers, and to me, yesterday showed Washington's probably too immature for this time of the year. Oh yeah, expect some pacing back and forth by me over the next few hours; 11 of 12 has won the Pro*Line Pool before, and it's usually about 10 grand. Buffalo had won 6 of 7 against Carolina, including 8-0 last time. No way any one in Ontario picked Carolina.....

    Investments

I'm just getting into investing, actually. I'm told it's a bit risky using mutual funds in an RRSP, so I'm thinking of purchasing a few mutual funds separately, as a lark. Chris, who's offering 4% savings accounts? That's really good.

    HDTV

As much as I love HD, I see the point people make about not wanting to pay for HD, or being perfectly happy with a standard definition set. Fine. If you're happy with what you have, more power to you. So why did the convo above rankle me? Ignorance! My stepdad paid as much for his TV as he did for his truck, both of which he purchased last summer. He spent hours researching the truck, and now that he has it, he doesn't drive it exclusively in first gear. It would have pissed me off much less if this were a drop in the bucket; I'm sure he's not the only one, that's what makes my head hurt.

You too with those, eh? I ate up, pun obviously intended, Schneider's LunchMate "Canadian Facts." There were only three facts, even though they had, at the time, four different varieties. Speaking of puns, Czech: Absinthe-minded? Meh. Keep it limited to Asian sitcoms, please.

Had a feeling you'd beat me to it, Max. I didn't see any of the game, just browsed the write-up on tsn.ca. I didn't realise both goals were 5-on-3, the write-up just said a late powerplay goal for Sturm. That's ludicrously irresponsible on Brashear's part, especially in a game of this magnitude: A win would have pulled them within two of 8th, for now. Instead, they're likely going to lose ground - Philly's 3-1 this year against the Isles. I don't like four games in six nights in a different time zone for the Habs, and I certainly don't like the penultimate game against the Ducks. (Even if the middle two are weaker teams). Subsequently, I approve of Carbonneau's gameplan: Halak this afternoon, Price tomorrow.

A buddy of mine and I were in Toronto for a Jays game a few years ago when we saw a metre maid ticketing a car. Running to prevent this, former Muchmusic VJ Juliette Powell shoved my buddy out of the way. I'd forgot all about that until you wrote 'literally ran into'.

    HDTV

Well, it's happened again: Asked my folks if they were watching anything on the upstairs TV later tonight and if not, if "I could not watch the hockey game downstairs in crappy standard definition." Response from mother: "It doesn't look much different anyway". I was going to agree with them by praising the DNIE processor in their TV (which really does clean up 480i broadcasts), before my stepdad chimed in with "Yeah, and those black bars on the sides; why would anyone watch that when they can have a full picture? I paid for a 63-inch tv, thats what I'm watching". Groaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

I used to work with a Sudanese immigrant, he showed me some African food. It's pretty creative. Interestingly, he made pizzas in Canada. Where are samosas from? Somalia? I remember seeing an episode of The Passionate Eye about a family of Somali immigrants who opened a restaurant, specializing in samosa.
