    Pictures I Like

Wasn't the McDonald's-item pizza just brought up in food? With that in mind, why was there a gun, measuring tape, and Dr. Pepper in the picture as well? I find that fascinating, and I almost wanna try the pizza.

On the other hand, who's to say what the dollar'll be like in five years, ten years? Will players still be paid in American? (I doubt it, surely someone's agent is gonna demand Canadian dollars if things stay as they are). Even that's getting pretty carried away. Yeah, it's a 50% difference from what it was in 1995, but it's only really been above par for what, two/three weeks? Even 95% is still 5% in the red to start with.

Where'd you come from? I figured you'd have had something to say after Saturday's Hab embarrassing. I certainly don't mean to compare hockey to golf in Canada, but the struggles the Canadian Open went through to find a title sponsor, that wouldn't bode well for hockey.

Inevitable Winnipeg discussion My roomie and I spent about an hour discussing this yesterday. I just don't envision Winnipeg with a team again in our lifetimes. He cited the MTS Centre held 15,000, which I said might be feasible if they have an exclusive TV deal and enough corporate support. Might be. And then there's Bettman.

Expand on the part about communism. I agree about your other statement though. "It could be worse" is never valid for anything. I'm intrigued as well. I assume it's along the lines of what I guy I know, who said roughly the same thing: that any time it's been in place per se, it's really been totaliariansm. There's no way I spelled that right.

i = interlaced P = progressive To elaborate on that, think of the picture on your screen at any given time as a painting. In a 1080i image, one thousand and eighty lines are painted vertically on the screen, first the odd numbered lines, then the even numbered lines. With 1080p, the picture is drawn with lines in sequential order, resulting in more stable picture.

    The What If Topic...

No. Not unless he's the Franchise, and I think even then, a lot of his lack of success in the big two was in his head. (Mick Foley said something along those lines in his first book). The Dean was doomed to flop. The Kliq merely kicked him while he was down.

I don't entirely disagree with the dildo-inspiring statement, but that pool does get pissed in a bit.

I didn't think it was exclusive to HDMI. Just for the hell of it, I played Tiger a few weeks ago in 1080i, then 1080p, and noticed a fair amount of improvement in stability when the camera was zoomed in on the backspin of the ball, etc. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't think I offer enough thanks here, all things considered. As has been discussed here before, Wal*Mart's product training is pretty minimal, and it's nice to know I have a resource if there's anything I'm curious about, rather than having to tell a customer I don't know something; and it's also helped when I purchased a new tv myself.

    American Pride and Nationalism

No, you shouldn't. Regardless of why the 'dumb rednecks' are patriotic, and I don't mean this as an insult, I'm sure you have a few things in common with them as far as patriotism goes. I've been pretty outspoken about my feelings on the Bush administration and its foreign policy, but Americans and the States in general have done some good things, and if you're patriotic about it, clearly you've noticed them. And furthermore, I think if you're lucky enough to live in a nation where you can find things to be proud of, you should embrace it.

Is it true that 1080p is only available when transferred via HDMI, and not by component, as my 360 currently is? If that's the case, what's going on inside my 360 (set at 1080p, which my TV is capable of) when I play Tiger 08 or GHIII, which are 1080p compatible?

Everything Max said. They didn't catch on last year (with Federov and Foote) the way I thought they would, but they do have an awful lot of the pieces in place. Leclaire's is almost certainly going to cool off, but the BJ's traded away the same goalie they'd had since inception for him. I hate to use a Pierre Mcguire-ism, but Nash is kind of a Loch Ness Monster in Ohio. He's around the 0.75 per game for his career, but he's 10-6 in 13 games this year, and don't forget how good he looked at the Worlds. And above all that, Columbus is the only team in the league to never make the playoffs. I have to think that's at least somewhat of a motivator. Two interesting tidbits: Peter Forsberg is mulling over retirement due to an ankle injury suffered today. And Mark Bell is looking to make his season debut tomorrow against Ottawa, and Kyle Wellwood may return in the nation's capital as well.

Didn't see 'em, but read it on tsn.ca right now: 2-1 Ottawa over Boston in a shootout, and Pascal Leclaire already has five fucking shutouts. 3-0 win over St. Louis.

Yes, he is. I think we can chisel that title away from Luongo and Brodeur....for now. Good, but not great W-L, but .937 and a tiny 1.67 GAA going into tonight; I'm fine with that. The Habs looked beyond terrible for the first fourteen minutes, and even worse with Huet pulled. Other than that, Stajan's goal was a beauty, and everything else was just what to expect from a Leafs-Habs game.

Don't need anything spectacular. I don't notice a whole hell of a lot of improvement from my component to HDMI upgrade, other than a little stability on text on screen. I'd say the greater advantage is the neater connection of having one cable instead of five. Hell, since PS3 and 360 now offer HDMI, try a MadCatz brand or other video game third party. Probably be the cheapest way to go, and there's really not much difference between different HDMI cables for my money.

Leafs/Habs with my grandfather + My grandmother's homemade wings = Happy CG. Never have I been so confident over the traditional toonie/king can bet with my grandpa. I'm sure they'll have a little more zip, but I'm hoping the Leafs play like they did for the final 20 minutes yesterday.

I was told by our PS rep that the 40 gig model wouldn't be backwards compatible, which is kinda lousy. Even so, 399 for a PS3 is dirt cheap.

I don't get the booing of Briere in Montreal tonight. A ten-million dollar salary is pretty tough to argue with. Oh well, looks like we're doin alright without him. 4-1 lead over the visiting Flyers with five to play, and we're outshooting them by about 20.

Well Known Wrestlers Without Well Known Matches?

I dunno, the Inferno matches are pretty much identified with Kane. One wrestler I can think of that fits this bill is Ken Shamrock. I'll agree to that, but only on the grounds that the Lion's Den matches never really caught on.

    Adventurous Pizzas

Tomato-based sauce is still the way to go, but I don't mind a change every now and then. The creamy spinach sounds a little gross, but I don't like spinach.....I used to make them with a herb and oil drip at a prior job and it was delicious.

Although the input and answers were appreciated, I suppose it's a fairly moot point, with so few 4:3 HDTV's available. It was more to settle a bet than anything. And yeah, I'm with you on the black bar issue. My stepdad and I have argued about this quite a bit. I don't mind the black bars on the sides when stuff is shown in 4:3, I'd rather have a better picture than a bigger one.
