Well, I didn't say the match with Booker/HHH was bad, but considering the storyline of that feud, and knowing HHH would bury him, it was just sad to watch.
-
Hmmm. I can't think of too many guys who had an awesome debut and then went downhill, but I can think of tons of guys who had anticipated debuts and then did nothing afterwards. I would say Jericho last year was this, since everyone was hyped over the "Save Us 222" videos, but then he showed up, and cut a pretty bad promo on Orton, and then was booked badly for months, until his career got back on track from his recent heel turn.
-
Why is that laughable? I thought pretty much everyone agreed that TNA has better wrestling than WWE, but its just Russo's dumb storylines that keep people from completely enjoying them. I too think that Joe's title reign has been a disaster so far, but I'm not shocked one bit. He's been booked terrible as a face since Janurary this year, and since he jobbed to Angle so many times the past 2 years, he couldn't really get over as champion anyway.

Those matches were spectacular? Hell, out of those guys, I think Nash had the best match with him. The match with Booker at WM was sad and embarrassing, while the match against Goldberg at Unforgiven had no momentum since Goldberg should have won at SS, and the match with Steiner at the Rumble was one of the worst matches of all time. I don't really think HHH was trying to make just WCW guys look bad, I think he tried to make everyone look bad, such as RVD and Kane. I think it looked like he was only trying to bury WCW guys because Vince signed a lot of those guys in that time period, and wanted to main event them, but HHH obviously wasn't going to put them over.

This PPV was pretty good tonight besides that horrible Lethal/Dutt match, and the main event, but the return of Jeff Jarrett? There is nothing good that can come of that. TNA has way too many stars on their roster, and Jarrett has been off TV for so long that people just forgot about him, so there is nowhere to put him in TNA right now. I really just hope that he has a match with Booker T, and thats it.

I didn't even know that the Team Challenge Series was in 89.

Kamala's Tape of The Month Club (a suggestion for a new regular th
DarKnight replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
I actually mentioned this same thing last month in a thread where you guys watched BATB 2000. New Blood Rising is the biggest example of why WCW was going to go out of business. I mean, Russo seriously booked an angle where A GUY WALKS OUT OF A MATCH BECAUSE HE REFUSES TO JOB, AND THE OTHER GUYS HAVE TO IMPROVISE A NEW FINISH!!! -
What month was it when they had that Turkey match? I sure hope they show that someday!

USA is the No. 1 cable channel? In that case, my cable company is embarrassing too, as they still don't have USA in HD. I hate my fucking cable company!

Jesus, Russo is just obsessed with doing that storyline isn't he? He did this storyline last year in TNA's world title program! Another reason why turning Sting heel on Hogan wasn't going to get over, was because Sting's actions were very justified in my opinion. Hogan said Sting was the Hummer driver and Luger said Hogan was the Hummer driver, so Sting was confused by all of this nonsense and finally had enough at Fall Brawl 99 and beat Hogan down with a baseball bat, just in case if he was the Hummer driver. At least, thats what I think the storyline was, who knows?
-
I agree with everything you said Venkman. If you were a first time viewer of TNA this week, you would be so fucking confused, by seeing Booker T with the belt, but he is NOT the champion, and they also have a Scott Steiner look-a-like, but Steiner is nowhere to be found. The first rule to booking wrestling should be to have the shows make sense to a first time viewer. TNA obviously doesn't follow this rule, and they won't gain any new fans by doing the stuff they're doing now.

I think it was hilarious that WWE seriously hyped Maria coming to Smackdown, including videos that said "coming to Smackdown in 4 weeks!" I mean really, who cares? I really think Maria's career has really slid downhill after the Santino storyline. That storyline completely killed off her appeal to people, since WWE got rid of her "dumb" character, and then they had her seem innocent, but then the Santino storyline tried to make her angry and serious, and thats not the Maria people want to see.

If anyone wants to talk about forgettable runs in a promotion, how about "Gator" Scott Hall in 1991 WCW? I seriously had no idea this gimmick existed until a few months ago I read about it on WrestleCrap.
-
Wow, I couldn't even tell that was Carlito. I actually think this is a way better look for Carlito, since he doesn't look like a jobber anymore.
-
Yeah, the AWA do seem very desperate in 1990, but I still think those shows are better than the 87 ones. Ok, maybe not the one with that football shit, but nothing in the universe is as bad as that.
-
Well, I didn't care or anything about who the people were who didn't have their names mentioned on TV, but it just seemed a bit bizarre. I'm more bothered by TNA completely burning out the audience with silly gimmick matches, Jim Cornette's authority figure character on TV, and storylines that are pointless or make no sense. I do actually like watching Russo's weird TV shows he writes, but TNA the past couple of months have been boring. Russo lately hasn't really booked something bizarre and funny. Maybe the Prince Justice Brotherhood I guess.
-
Yeah, I didn't think Regal had a forgettable run at all in 98. He was on quite a bit of shows for a while and had a weird gimmick to remember him by. That 3-disc Braden Walker DVD joke was hilarious! My favorite part of the picture was the T-shirt that had no design!
-
These 1990 shows have been better than those 1987 shows. Those shows really were just boring. At least the 90 shows have the goofy Team Challenge Series crap on them. Some of these shows have been more boring than funny though.

Yeah, I don't know how anyone could mention ONS 06 on here, since that finish made me more nervous than happy, because I thought Vince might do the most sleazy thing ever, by having RVD get the win at ONS so the crowd wouldn't riot, just so the next day when they're away from that crazy crowd, they would say RVD wasn't the champion after all. I was glad the next night on Raw, they officially made RVD the champion. I bet that Orton and (you know who) match at SS 04 is really bizarre to watch now. As for another PPV with an awesome finish, how about Sid showing up at the end of the GAB 99?!
-
Yeah, I know TNA not mentioning these people doesn't mean anything really, but they just look so 2nd rate by doing that. When people are on TV, we want to know who the fuck they are. Its almost like I thought TNA was playing a joke on me or something, to see if I knew every single thing on the internet. Russo likes doing that though. All of his WCW booked shows followed that idea. I found out the next day after that PPV, that the guy with Karen was Trademarc, but I thought it was really bad that TNA would have anyone on their shows that was associated with John Cena.
-
I don't like Shelton's matches when he is a heel, because he follows that Carlito philosophy: Do crazy spots as a face to get cheered, but do boring shit as a heel to get booed. I don't like that. I think the only way guys should play heel, is by doing cheating. You don't have to change your entire moveset. Well, this Smackdown last night was another boring show. Is it pretty safe to say that Edge is carrying this show right now?
-
I hope these guys win. I remember last year, hearing about WWE considering their workers to be "independent contractors", and I couldn't believe they would say such a thing about their workers, considering that if your not allowed to work anywhere else, you are an employee. I'm surprised this lawsuit hasn't happened before, since WWE has basically lied to every one of their workers.
-
Yeah, Carlito at a press conference this year, basically said that HHH is in the great position he's in today, because he slept with Stephanie. It really sounds no different from Scott Steiner's shoot interviews.

What the fuck???
