    The Dark Knight

Glad to see that someone shares my opinion that Burton got lucky. Its like, since every comic fan saw that Burton's movie had a dark atmosphere and tone to it, they thought it was a faithful adaptation. It wasn't. And since Burton got full creative control over Returns, he fucked that one up even more. I don't even need to comment on why the next 2 sucked, since everyone knows why. I guess I could say that the studio got involved too much. And I too don't think Batman and Robin is the worst comic movie. I would easily say that Superman 4, Catwoman, and Elektra are far worse movies. See, Batman and Robin is at least campy, so its kind of so bad its good to watch. I mean, some of Freeze's jokes are so bad, that I had to laugh. I wouldn't call Batman an anti-hero at all. Anti-heroes are people like the Punisher and such. People who actually kill the bad guys.

    Watchmen

When I saw The Dark Knight in IMAX yesterday, I saw the Watchmen trailer again. I liked the trailer much better this time. I don't know why either, maybe because the first time I was too busy laughing at the song reminding me of Batman & Robin. I also read the article from Entertainment Weekly, and I am really hyped for this now. I need to get the graphic novel at some point.

I can't really think of any actress out there that would make a good Wonder Woman. The Ryan Reynolds casting for the Flash was spot on, but I can't really think of anyone for the Green Lantern (Hal Jordan). If the movie was made years ago, I would cast Harrison Ford.

You hit the nail right on the head. I too used to like those movies when I was young, but after you watch Batman Begins, you go back and watch them, and you start to realize that those movies aren't any good. The reasons you listed are all true. The Dark Knight is really the first Batman movie to depict Bruce Wayne as a dim-witted Playboy, and there was a funny scene when Gordon talks to him after the car crash: Bruce: You think I should go to the hospital? Gordon: You don't watch the news too much, do you Mr. Wayne? I too think it was embarassing that Gordon was an inept nobody in the previous series. And the Penguin's depiction was a slap to the face to comic fans.

Yeah, Murphy really should be embarassed. Pluto Nash made a worldwide total of $6 million, with a budget of $85 million, and don't forget marketing costs. I mean thats seriously got to be the biggest flop ever. Well, yeah, that too. Does this mean people will consider Hancock a flop?

    The Dark Knight

You are absolutely right. Time has not been kind to those movies. The Dark Knight is by far the best Batman movie, and I even think after watching Batman Begins a bunch of times, that the previous series is very inferior. Batman Begins will really open your eyes to how bad that previous series was. You also notice how bad it was if you read graphic novels like Year One, Long Halloween, and The Killing Joke. Does anyone else feel now, that Batman 89 is a worthless movie?

Yes, but ANY movie shouldn't flop worldwide, since there are many markets to add to the total. But the movie didn't make back its budget ( no telling what the marketing costs were) in any market. In the US, it made $200 million, which didn't make back the budget, and overseas it made $191 million, less than the US gross. What I'm trying to say is, that neither market had that much interest in the movie. See in total worldwide gross, Batman and Robin was sucessful, but its considered a flop since it didn't make back the budget in either market.

    The Dark Knight

Thats why I think Burton got lucky. The first one out of the original 4 movies seemed the most like a Batman movie since no one was given full creative control, and Jack carried the movie. Returns however, went competely overboard with Burton's style, and not many people liked it. I too think Arnold is the only interesting thing to watch in Batman and Robin. The midsection of the movie when he's captured is just dreadful. His performance as Freeze could at least make you watch it multiple times just to get a good laugh from his bad ice jokes.

    Box Office Report...

I'm glad to see that my favorite character in pop culture is on top.

    The Dark Knight

Tim Burton got lucky with the first Batman movie, because the studio didn't give him full control over everything. However, I think once he got full control over Returns, it sucked. I mean, Marlon Wayans as Robin? WTF? I'm glad that never happened, though a part of me is kinda interested in seeing that.

    The Dark Knight

There in continuity. Its just that they seem so different from each other that you would think they were a reboot, but they all have the same guy as Alfred, and the same guy as Gordon. They're pretty much the only ones who tie the series together though. Oh, and its not like Harvey Dent, the character, went from being black to white, your just supposed to accept its a different actor. I think its more weird that Dent is absent entirely from the 2nd movie, and he shows up as Two-Face in the 3rd with no explanation.

    The Dark Knight

Maybe not, since the Penguin and Max Shreck died, but the bad guys are stopped and they reveal Catwoman to be alive in the last shot. You got to love the continuity of the old series. Catwoman was revealed to be alive at the end of the movie, and she doesn't appear at all in the next movie! Same thing with Harvey Dent, he appeared in the first movie, and wasn't in the 2nd.

Superman Returns had a production budget of $270 million though, so making $200 million is pretty much a flop. Batman Begins had a budget of $150 million, and it made $205 million, so it was more profitable. It was more critically acclaimed too, which helps development for a sequel.

You want to know something funny? Cage actually did get paid $20 million for that. I mean, I would have loved for that to happen to me! Get paid $20 million to NOT do a movie! I also remember for that same movie, Warner Bros. wanted Chris Rock to be Jimmy Olsen!

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

I too am sick of this Kaz push. The guy does nothing for anybody. The sad thing is, is that TNA have way to many goofy characters in the X-Division to ever main event. So because Kaz is bland and boring, and inoffensive, thats why they main event him at times.

Oh god, Superman 4 was UTTER SHIT!!! I remember watching that one day on TV, and I couldn't believe what I was watching. It makes Batman & Robin look like a classic compared to that. I've never even bothered to watch Superman 3, after watching that. By the way, does anyone remember those horrible casting choices Warner Bros. wanted for Superman Returns? Beyonce as Lois Lane, and Johnny Depp as Lex Luthor? You can obviously tell this was the same braintrust behind Catwoman.

    The Dark Knight

This depends if they ever want to adapt the story to film though. I know I might get flamed for this, but I didn't like that book. That All-Star Batman & Robin series was a disaster wasn't it? I mean, why would Miller think that line would be a good idea?

    Rated PG Superstar?

Well, to the mainstream, good wrestling doesn't exist. They just want to see who wins. The mainstream could sit through a whole bunch of Great Khali matches and not realize how bad it is. No offense to Khali, since I'm one of his very few marks.

I have never liked Superman either. Why should I care about a superhero who can't be hurt, and his archenemy is a guy who can't do anything to him? I also think Superman Returns flopped because Superman is just an outdated character. I mean, he just screams old timey to me. Batman is a timeless character because he is the most realistic superhero, and has dark and psychological stories.

    The Dark Knight

Well, the only title to the next movie I could come up with is "The Caped Crusader", since its Batman's other nickname, and plus it sounds cool. I also like it being mentioned in TDK.

    Rated PG Superstar?

This is mostly just the internet that says this though. The mainstream could care less about the actual wrestling, and tune in for the storylines. Its when you have awful storylines that the mainstream stops watching. The Hummer angle is an example of this, and the promotion went under a couple of years later. TNA right now is heading down that path WCW did, having bad storylines and bad wrestling on their TV show.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 7/25

Is Ron Killings even allowed to use "The Truth" name? I thought maybe TNA copyrighted it. Still though, instead of calling him R-Truth, why not just have him be Ron Killings? I mean, thats a very cool sounding name.

    The Dark Knight

Yes, I was referring to the previous series. I didn't think Batman Begins had a happy ending at all, other than Batman of course saving the day. That's the way Batman stories should be, he stops the villain, but everything else is lost. Don't ever see a movie believing the hype. It always turns out bad. I went into TDK with my brain cleared of hype, and I thought it was a great movie. However, when I went to see Spider-Man 2, I was excited as hell, and I ended up really disappointed. You will most likely enjoy TDK more on a second viewing, since now you know what to expect.

    The Dark Knight

Well, the Joker getting caught and put in Arkham is the only happy part of the ending. So Batman did win in some way, but just lost on everything else. I really liked the downer ending. Its just so appropriate for Batman. The previous 4 movies always had to have a happy ending, and it felt cheap, although the last 2 were obviously going to.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

I don't like wrestling websites that do that kind of stuff, because eventually they end up looking like fools. Remember in 2006 when Orton got suspended, and the way they wrote him off in storyline was having Angle break his ankle? On WWE.com, they had articles right next to each other with the headlines "Orton Suspended" and "Orton suffers a broken ankle". I mean who really would be dumb enough to believe that both happened!?
