  1. Well, I saw this movie today, and I thought it was good, but they pretty much wrecked the Deadpool character. I mean, it seemed like he was only in the movie for like 5 minutes near the beginning, and I thought it was dumb that

they refer to Weapon 11 as Deadpool at the end. Even though I really enjoyed the fight scene with Weapon 11, it was really stupid to call that Deadpool.

  2. Yeah, I've pretty much heard from a lot of critics that characters like Deadpool, Gambit, and Blob are included for no real reason other than just to finally make a film appearance. I did like the one T.V. ad I saw though, where Deadpool sliced the bullet in half with his sword. That was pretty cool.

  3. IIRC Connery turned down the roles of Morpheus in Matrix, Gandalf in the LOTR Trilogy and Dumbeldore in the Harry Potter franchise.

But yet he did accept LXG. Go figure. I really couldn't have imagined Will Smith playing Neo at all. That would have been weird. That's probably one of the few roles that Keanu Reeves was actually well casted for, considering that he basically plays a confused computer hacker who has no clue what's going on, which he's good at.

  4. Anaconda is one of the best guilty pleasures though, so I can understand why Ebert loved that. If you want to talk about a movie Ebert liked for a reason I can't figure out, how about Spawn? I think he gave that three and a half as well. And wow, what Smues said about Knowing makes this movie look even worse and unintentionally funny more so than that Wicker Man remake. I was pretty much laughing out loud during those spoilers.

  5. Just got back from seeing Knowing. Add it to the pool of contenders. I don't know if I'd rate it worse than Street Fighter, I'll have to give that some thought. No way I watch both of them again anytime soon though, so I'll only be able to judge from the initial viewings. What a pile of crap this film was. I think I'll elaborate later today, I need to go to bed.

Phew what a pile of shit though, and I don't forsee 2012 being able to take the title of 'worst end of the world' movie for the year.

I've been making fun of that movie Knowing ever since I saw the first ad! I was like "well, here's Nic Cage in movie about the end of the world, so what's it called?" Then the words Knowing go across the screen, and I'm thinking "Knowing? That's the best title they can come up with?" I think it's kinda sad that Alex Proyas directed that movie, I thought he actually did good stuff. To show you Roger Ebert's state of mind, he gave Knowing 4 stars.

  6. Actually, remembering the feud Steiner and Joe had 3 years ago or so, I might watch it just for that match.

Its really funny how a few years later, how different this feud is now. In 2006, we had Steiner make fun of Joe, but Joe just stays cool and says he will beat Steiner clean in the middle of the ring. Now, in 2009? We have Steiner still making fun of Joe, but now Joe wants to kill him with a weird looking knife, and his actions are being called the "Nation of Violence" for some reason. Very weird. I think TNA at this point isn't worth spending money on. The MEM and Frontline feud is so one-sided, that its hard to want to see any of these PPVs since that feud started. I don't think I've watched any of their PPVs since Bound For Glory.

  7. What doesn't help Watchmen was that the movie didn't get good word of mouth, not even from fans, and the near 3 hour long running time didn't help its box office either. I got a feeling that movie might become a cult hit on DVD though with its director's cut, which will probably make the movie vastly better.

  8. Don West burying the main event was awesome

Cornette bribing booker by refusing to return booker's property was great

    TNA logic everybody

The funny thing about West burying the main event of the night, was that the audience at home is supposed to disagree with West, and we're supposed to look forward to the main event, but considering that the mystery partner ended up being one of Angle's security guards, West had a good point to make fun of it.

  9. SuperJerk may have went off the line a little bit, but I kinda get what he's saying. People are too obsessed with comparing the movie to the book, and while its great to be faithful to source material, there can still be a good movie otherwise with changes made. A book is a book, and a movie is a movie, and they both should be judged on the quality of their own format. In my opinion, Watchmen made one hell of a good book, and one hell of a good movie.

  10. I have no idea what its supposed to mean but its the term Joe's been using since his "return." So it wasn't Tenay's idea. Just him using Joe's line.

Part of me dreads whatever Samoans are free agents showing up as a new stable, or something.

    Manu.

I find it ironic how over the years people had always been glad Joe is in TNA and not in WWE because they feared that the moment he entered WWE he would become something along the lines of Umaga, or other type of typical wrestling Samoan, and now in TNA it's happening before our eyes.

Only it's so much worse than what I would have imagined for him in WWE.

I would much rather Joe do this silly shit with his knife rather than playing a bland Umaga type character in WWE. I don't trash TNA for doing these crazy angles like this because I find it much more enjoyable and funny than Raw's really boring and ultra serious tone.

  11. Saw it last night. It was very good. Not great, but very good. It definitely was a little too lengthy.. but I think that was more be being tired than anything else. The movie-ending was fine, IMO as well. I don't think the GN ending would've worked as well to be honest.

Also, I didn't see the problem with Nixon's makeup or Sally Jupiter's makeup either. They looked perfectly fine for the type of movie this was - think Marv or the Yellow Bastard in Sin City. I guess people just need something to nitpick about. Though I definitely would've liked them to at least explain Rorschach's mask.

I bet Rorschach's mask will be explained in the director's cut. I got the feeling there was probably many people in the audience wondering "why does this guy's mask have ink that moves?", and some people were probably puzzled by Bubastis in the film as well. Since they never explained Veidt's genetics technology in the movie, I bet some people were thinking "there's a blue tiger with horns for no reason."

  12. Wow, I must be the only person who read the comic, and really enjoyed the movie. I think people are trying WAY too hard to compare the graphic novel to the movie, and try to remember what was missing and such. I went in seeing the movie today not trying to think about the comic, and I thought the movie rocked. If anything, I think some things in the book being cut out in the movie actually may have helped in some ways. Most of the stuff that was cut out from the book I didn't really miss. About the only thing I did miss from the book not being in the movie was the

Hollis Mason death scene though, I thought that scene was really powerful in the book.

As for the casting, I thought everyone did a fine job, and Matthew Goode wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Basically, this movie will end up being one of those "love it" or "hate it" type of films.

way to back up those opinions. good work.

Well, I guess I could go into more detail saying why I didn't miss some things. So, lets think about about scenes from the book that weren't in the movie. This seems to include:

    SPOILERS AHEAD

-Dr. Long's subplot with his wife and maybe some extended dialogue between him and Rorschach

-The people on the street corner like the newspaper guy, the kid, the lesbians, etc.

-Hollis Mason's death and many of his other scenes

    -The subplot with the detectives

-Some of Laurie's scenes and backstory, like the incident with the Comedian at the party

-Little bit of Rorschach's backstory about how he got his special ink blot mask and his first days fighting crime with Nite Owl

And there may be more things I'm forgetting. Out of that list, about the only things I missed not being in the movie were Hollis Mason's scenes. It would have been nice if these scenes from that list were included in the movie, but really, I didn't miss them all that much, and I thought the movie was more fast paced because of them being eliminated. I don't know, maybe thats just me?

  14. Outside of that segment which was so bad it was hysterical, this week's show was just...counter productive and boring.

Atleast last weeks show had the sheer oddity of it being perhaps the worst wrestling show ever put on national TV. This didn't even have that going for it.

Yeah, it seemed like besides that silly long segment of Booker/Styles/Steiner/Joe/Tenay/West, the rest of that show was completely forgettable. Hell, I can't think of anything else that happened on the show besides Angle getting thrown out of the building at the end, and him attacking everyone throughout the show. I will say, I fucking love watching this silly shit each week though. I mean, where else are you going to see a wrestling show where a guy is threatened with a weird knife every week!? And if you thought last week's episode of impact was the worst wrestling show ever, I advise you to watch that one episode of impact I talked about a few weeks ago on here, where Angle went around bars meeting those strange women. No wrestling show will ever be as bad as that stuff.

  15. Not to mention that Watchmen is in an alternate reality. In the book, many important world events are changed by the existence of superheroes, so why wouldn't the audience

buy into Veidt's plan? In the book, he was telling the truth. His terrorist attack actually was better for the world. The bad guy was right.

I think that was one of the more incredible things about Watchmen.

  16. So wait, they actually

set up a sequel by saying that there's a fighting tournament, and Ryu is in it, and that Bison is behind it, and they instead for a reboot of the franchise, make a horrible movie about Chun-Li??? What the hell were they thinking?

Yeah, but given that it this couldn't even make $5 million this weekend I wouldn't expect to see that sequel.

Well, I didn't expect a sequel to happen at all either, but I'm surprised the studio did. But then again, they apparently expected this to make about $60 million, so obviously they didn't know better.

  17. Just got back. For those expecting or hoping for it to be like the first Street Fighter movie you'll be in for a disappointment. It's not really so bad it's enjoyable, it's just bad. Oh sure it's got some enjoyable awfulness, like Klein's acting, but for the most part it is just a bad movie. The plot is bad, the dialog is bad, the acting is bad, and the editing and pacing is terrible. In a normal movie something happens, which then causes something else to happen, which then causes something else to happen. In Street Fighter there's a lot of times where something happens, and then something else happens but it doesn't really have any relation to the previous scene. It just keeps cutting to new scenes with no flow or reason.

And then there's Bison. Raul Julia looked like Bison, and he hammed the role up perfectly. Take Julia away from the first Street Fighter movie and I highly doubt it has near the cult status that it does. Bison is this movie is an evil evil evil guy sure, but he's boring and unmemorable. Oh and very Irish. I can't say I ever figured Bison to be Irish when playing Street Fighter 2, but I was a pretty stupid kid. And having just gotten back form the movie I can't really remember any particular bad lines, so this Bison doesn't even have that going for him, unlike Julia.

Duncan was as good a choice as any for Balrog, although this crap is so beneath him I hope they had to pay him a LOT of money to get him involved in this turdburger. Vega could have been a good choice for a character to be in the movie but he was completely wasted. And his mask looked pretty lame when we got a closeup look at it. And is Nash a character in the Street Fighter universe? That was Chris Klein's character, and they could have removed him and the chick that worked with him completely from the movie and you wouldn't feel like anything was missing. What a waste.

And no, Chun Li faking lesbianism doesn't save the movie. That should tell you something.

    Spoiler stuff:

God was the pacing so poor in this thing. Like I said it would just cut from scene to scene to scene with no flow what so ever. Because this movie was so forgettable I don't even remember many examples of this an hour later, but there was one that stuck in my head. Chun Li is traumatized as a kid as she sees her father beaten and kidnapped in front of her. Then when shes older she learns he's alive and wants nothing more than to rescue him and get revenge on Bison. Eventually she finally finds her dad and they have a brief tearful reunion. Then Bison snaps her dad's neck right in front of her and leaves. So obviously Chin Li is angry and grief strucken right? You would think this would make her snap and have nothing on her mind but killing Bison and lots of anger. Well she escapes, gets shot, and magically Gen, who was supposedly killed earlier walks out and takes her home. When she comes to she NEVER ASKS WHERE THE HELL GEN WAS. Not once. Ok then, maybe she's mad that he ran off instead of helping her save her father? Nope. No questions, no angry, she's just as happy as a school girl now. There is literally no transition from "Chun Li watches her dad's neck snapped in front of her" to "Chun Li is happy happy happy." It's ridiculous.

And Gen, dear god. He's dead! No wait here he is just fine. Oh wait Bison kicked the shit out of him, he might not be dead but he's in a bad way. Oh wait no here he is ambushing Bison again good as new. Ok now he's dead! Oh wait nope he's fine yelling at Chun Li "You know what you have to do!" Which is of course, shoot a fireball at Bison. A fireball that Chun Li struggled to be able to make earlier in the movie, whilst Gen could make them with ease. So...why in the holy fuck did Gen never shoot one at Bison? He had the element of surprise on him, use your fucking fireball dude. Or at least the bicycle kick dude, it worked on Shang Tsung.

And after 90+ minutes of the movie not really doing anything to appeal to anyone, including Street Fighter fans, all of a sudden at the end they try to suckup to the fans and name drop Ryu, and a world tournament of fighters. Wow that sure makes up for the rest of the movie. Oh wait no, no it doesn't. And when Gen shows Chun Li the newspaper with the ad for the tournament, he implies that Bison is behind it. Umm, yeah, see here's the problem, when Chun Li hit Bison with that fireball he neck snapped around 180 degrees. His chest is facing straight up, his head is facing straight down. He's DOA dead. Fuck you movie.

Oh, and Bison's backstory was pretty awful. He was EVIL! but not evil enough, so he discovered a way to remove his conscience by transferring it to his newborn baby girl. Apparantly killing his wife in the process. So ok now he's 100% grade-A evil. Why did he not kill the kid? And why does he protect the kid and 'his daughter is his only weakness?' Seems to me if he removed all the good from inside himself he wouldn't give a shit about the kid and would kill her like he kills everyone else.

So like I said, don't go to this expecting an instant classic like the first one, this is just forgettable bad. Without much if anything in the way of redeeming value. Well, there was one line I remember. Chris Klein yelling "It's a bomb everybody get out!" as he slow motion jumps away from an explosion action hero style. I think that's sound advice to the audience. It's a bomb, get out while you still can.

    So wait, they actually

set up a sequel by saying that there's a fighting tournament, and Ryu is in it, and that Bison is behind it, and they instead for a reboot of the franchise, make a horrible movie about Chun-Li??? What the hell were they thinking?

  18. $60 million!!! How in the blue hell did this movie get greenlit? Thats a very good question. I too have also found it really embarrassing that Hollywood can't figure out that Ken and Ryu are the main characters in the street fighter universe. I mean the guys are the center of the commercials and poster art for the games, but yet Hollywood can't figure it out, or maybe they don't care, I don't know. Also, what is Michael Clarke Duncan doing in this movie? Is he really that hard up for money?

  19. Basically the Main Event Mafia beat Joe down and treated him like a jobber, so he took some time off to sell that. He came back with an ultra jobberific face paint gimmick and mostly threatened the MEM in pretaped interviews. Now's stalking Steiner and trying to kill him with either weightlifting equipment or with a knife. Are we supposed to want him to get revenge on Steiner? Dude, it was a typical heel beatdown, hardly worth killing someone and going to jail over.

I find it odd in kayfabe its Steiner he's going after. Nash is the one who betrayed him, his issues with Angle are well known, Sting took his title, hell even Booker he feuded with a while about six months ago and has a championship to take. Yet its Scott he's going crazy over.

Yeah, I was really confused about why Joe hates Steiner so much. Nash was Joe's last real feud back in November or so, but yet, since his comeback, he's only went after Steiner. It makes no sense. Come to think of it, Joe has to be the most buried guy ever to have won a world title. The dude was TNA's top babyface last year and was the champion, to months later being a guy who's treated like an afterthought on the show, and only shows up for like 1 minute, and is never mentioned on the show again, and doesn't wrestle either. I can't ever think of a world champion who has fallen so far besides him.

  20. With a lot of these X-Division guys being gone, this makes me wonder if TNA is going through with that idea I heard about one time, where they thought about actually getting rid of the X-Division. Pretty much all the X-Division guys have moved on to bigger things like Styles, or they have become jobbers, so it wouldn't surprise me to see TNA do this, especially since they become more like WWE every year.
