TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
From this weeks F4W: Locker room morale is horrible, with the undercard talent being especially miserable, not so much because they're pushed as geeks on television but because they're getting almost no chance to actually wrestle. Alvarez once again mentions the top guys getting their own locker room and that it's furthering the feeling of the non-top guys that they're geeks who the company don't really care about, and whether it's intentional or not that's what it's doing. Alvarez got feedback from guys in TNA about Lance Storm's column, the one where he detailed why he's stopped watching TNA, who were happy that someone else with a clue was thinking the same things they were. There have also been names in TNA contacting WSX in the past two weeks. Let's really think about that bolded part and consider the fact that under reign of Russo, we now have wrestlers being yelled at for trying to wrestle on a wrestling show. -
Oh fuck yeah! I can't wait to see that in person. Where the fuck have Regal and Taylor been since Armageddon, though? Training. How to climb a ladder more efficiently. Obviously. If they had announced this ahead of time, we could have had some great comedy with segments showing Regal and Taylor training for the Ladder match.

Fans have never cared about how well you work. They want entertainment and that can surely come from a 7' monster. You can't entertain if you're so grossly limited that you can't do anything that the fans find entertaining.

Not exactly breaking news. This was in the Observer a couple of weeks ago. Still, it can't hurt ECW.

Wrestlemag Those are good numbers for crowd and gate. And Cro Cop might walk away with 'only' a $245,000 purse, but that's still good money for hunting another human being inside of an octagon. -

They really don't like you when they make their backstage frustrations with you into an on-screen angle.

When Batista got chokeslammed, did anyone else expect him to tear a muscle?

The 2nd statement completely contradicts the part that says "Vince just really doesn't give a shit about ECW anymore". The first part was before they became aware of WSX. How long ago did they do the WSX tapings? Vince surely should have known about it well before two weeks ago. I meant aware of WSX going against ECW. News doesn't tend to get into the WWE bubble, so they don't become aware of a lot of things you might otherwise think they would be.

His push is dead. He's not getting buried, probably because they only have six or seven wrestlers on the ECW brand and need a warm body, but it'll happen in due course unless minds get changed and it's decided Punk can work all of a sudden.
-
Might also be because Kobashi can actually work.

People often underestimate the part genetics play in the kind of physique a wrestler can get, even when they're on steroids. For sure steroids help, and can help a lot, but there's only so far they can take you if you don't have good genetics.

JoeDirt's old school match thread
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I've seen the cage match around awhile back but much like that 8 man tag you were asking for it has been awhile since I passed across a link. I will keep an eye out for you though. Reason being the Uncensored cage match sucked. The rules kept changing throughout the match, the finish made no sense, and Hogan looked more like the face when he was supposed to be the heel. It was supposed to be like that as it was a dual turn with Hogan turning face and Flair turning heel. Not to say it made sense, but that's why the finish looked like it did. Another thing they have in common was that neither PPV seemingly got all that much hype both on TV or on the internet back in those days. Gotta wonder what the buyrate was. If it is as low as I think it was then it is no wonder these matches are semi-rare to outright impossible to find since nobody bought the PPV. The Superbrawl buy rate was shockingly high at 1.1, and it came very close to matching the buy rate for the Austin/McMahon cage match that took place the week before. It's generally considered to be the last big buy rate Hulk Hogan drew as a full-time wrestler. The Uncensored main event was funny going in, because it was a First Blood match and they were forbidden from using the term 'First Blood' on television, so they had to hype up a match with a stipulation where they couldn't tell you what the stipulation was. Uncensored did 0.73 in the end. -

Apparently, Mirko will be taking on the 'challenge' of Check Kongo at UFC 70. If Cro Cop can get past Kongo, and it's a big if, Dana says Sylvia is next, though I'm going to assume Cro Cop's third fight will be against Sylvia no matter who the second fight is against. -
On The LAW, Meltzer said they'd like Marcus Cor Van to be over enough to get the spot against Lashley, but failing that it'll probably be Hardcore Holly if he can avoid surgery.

??? Has Cade bulked up that much lately? He's getting back up to the size he was in Memphis just over a year ago when he was HUGE. Picture Triple H when he came back from his first torn quad.

TV deaths that pissed you off or upset you
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
What made it worse was they never officially declared her dead until well into the next season. Of course, that was because Kincaid was meant to only end up paralyzed and leave the DA's office for private practice. However, Jill Hennessy declined to return for a one-off appearance to tie up that loose end, so they killed Kincaid off. Still sucks, though. -
From Alvarez: That could actually work.

Lance Storm responding to feedback on his RussoRiffic rant: As with his first rant, I expect Storm's points to go over the heads of certain people here. -
The Wellness Policy is like any other drug test in that it's really just an IQ test. The reason you don't hear anything about it is because results are confidential, and they're actually doing a good job in keeping them that way. But if you want cosmetic evidence of who is getting off or getting back on whatever they're taking, just look at the bodies.

From Meltzer on LAW, he says the current plan for WM is Cena/Michaels as of a few days ago, but that they might also go with Cena/Michaels/Edge/Orton, or possibly even do that at Backlash, but he also said that the plans are changing constantly and he wouldn't be surprised if they change again even after Raw tomorrow, where Undertaker is going to announce who he is going after.

That doesn't make much sense, espically since RVD has lost to Holly quite a few times already. Its not like Tuesday was RVD's first lost agasint Holly. When a guy gives notice, it's standard practice to job him out before he leaves. Where Van Dam was jobbing before to bury him, and it still is, now it's also because he gave notice. and might be leaving. And to make it clear, Van Dam giving notice doesn't mean he's going to leave. It just means he avoids his contract rolling over and isn't stuck there for another couple of years at the same pay. It gives both sides the chance to either re-negotiate his deal or for them to formally part ways.
