Oops: And the apparent replacement main event is Josh Barnett vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

He was never given a reason to lose weight. WWE sent him down to OVW to lose weight and when he didn't they called him back up anyway and pushed him. It didn't help that he was on a downside of almost $1m a year and WWE felt the need to justify it by pushing him.

WON News + Notes (December 11 Issue)
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to The Decemberists's topic in The WWE Folder
Just to clarify something, the meeting where Heyman and Vince agreed to break ties took place before the Raw taping on 12/4 and it was the next day that Stephanie then said Heyman was simply being removed as the lead writer for ECW and would be given another role within the company. -

Can you wait four months?

AMW are TNA's longest surviving tag team, and are pushed and presented as such and we always hear about how they're multiple time NWA tag team champions. I would think a match where they would have to split up if they lose deserves to be on a PPV. If they really do want to give it away for free, surely it should get some hype before taking place?

I'm sure a lot of people want to see Joe vs. Angle III. But they'd have wanted to see it more if they had spaced the matches out a bit and made them wait. The first match barely had time to register before they want right into the hype for the second match. The Joe vs. Angle matches have been booked like a spotfest; as great as the spots, in this case the Joe vs. Angle matches, are, they don't get the reaction they could because they're happening so quickly. The fans didn't have time to come down from the high of the first matches before they had to pop again for the second. The second match should have been held off until maybe March or April and then the third match, the tie-breaker, should have been held off until Bound For Glory, their biggest PPV of the year. Instead, they've rushed through the first two matches on consecutive PPV's, and we seem set to make it three PPV's in-a-row with Joe vs. Angle, giving them no time to make them as special as they should be.

Well *IF* that match on it's own sold any PPV buys then I'm sure it already did that when they actually ran it on the Sunday PPV - a mid-card rematch ain't going to really add much to a PPV - besides if they had that philosophy then we'd see a very meager, one sided Impact where all the "Big" matches are saved for the PPV. You don’t think a match between the company’s longest surviving tag team putting their existence as a team against the titles held by the hated Latino anti-American heels would have sold any PPV buys? The heels already scraped their way to victory in a match that forced the American’s to have to hear the Mexican national anthem played. AMW going for revenge and vowing to split up if they lost would absolutely have sold PPV buys, especially with some strong promo packages built around the strong anti- American angle of the storyline. ...besides if they had that philosophy then we'd see a very meager, one sided Impact where all the "Big" matches are saved for the PPV. Because making people have to pay to see big matches is a bad thing? If the point of putting it on Impact is for ratings, they're not even going to get that because it's getting zero hype and, at most, maybe 30 minutes of lead time. The least they could have done was shoot an angle in the first week of Impact to build to the next week, but they don't even have the patience for that.
-
I know it's a rhetorical question, but is there a good reason they're giving away that AMW vs. LAX match with no hype, 30 minutes of lead time, and not even putting it in the main event? That sounds like a match that might actually sell some PPV buys.

I think it is more Hogan being completely unable or unwilling to not work. He has this condition that compels him to embellish, exaggerate or flat out lie in everything he does, even when it serves no purpose. He can’t help but lie.

That is why I hated the chair spot. It was totally out of place for what the match was supposed to be. It didn't fit.
-
Evidently, wanting clean finishes and no goofy spots in major matches is a no-no.

Xyience, and Dana White, in hot water? -
Fair enough. I would have just much prefered Joe wins clean, with no ref bump or chair bullshit, like Angle did. Make them truly look equal.
-
Any reason Joe couldn't win clean? Did Angle really need protecting?
-
Hopefully, Joe and Angle going last means a clean finish and it's Joe winning.

Something interesting, if unsurprising and I don't know how serious it was, that Meltzer said it's no secret that UFC want Sylvia to lose the heavyweight title very quickly. As for CroCop in UFC, I can't imagine them not pulling out all the stops to get him. -

On WOL just now, Meltzer says that the word is Cro Cop has made his decision on his contract status, presumably which group to go with, but he's yet to reveal what his decision is. -
They missed the three count.

If Heyman is let go, I'll be shocked. But I'll be more shocked if TNA actually bring him in to help them out.
-
Maybe people don't care? No, can't be that. They need to really crank it up to save this PPV.
-
We do that anyway.
