    Didn't happen

Oh, my bad. I thought I heard somewhere that Roma actually kicked out of the finish. He might have kicked out right at three, which is something you see guys do when they hate having to put someone over and want to make the win look like a fluke so as to protect their ego. Scott Norton and Mr Hughes come to mind as two people who would do that a lot.

Browning. I would love to see Junie try his little drunk man routine on Slice.

    Major Shakeup In ROH

He dropped the NWA title to Blue Demon Jr. over the weekend, so I would guess he doesn't.

You figure Batista pins JBL to start his reign off with a win, and then maybe do some kind of post-match angle to start setting up Survivor Series. I think Bourne vs. Mysterio ends with Kane running in. And Priceless retain when DiBiase pins Punk, relatively clean.

Put Kimbo in the same house as Junie Carter.

Roma didn't kick out of the finish. The problem was he didn't want to put Wright over, and took the entire match and made Wright look bad. He was fired not long after.

    Major Shakeup In ROH

Notes from last nights Observer Radio show: The booker looks to be Adam Pearce. It's going to be 1970s pro-wrestling, with less highspots, shorter shows that are built more traditionally, with 7-8 matches and around 2 1/2 hours long. The babyfaces and heels will be simple and not complex. Cary Silkin felt they couldn't grow any more under the previous direction, and the feels new direction will see growth. Dave feels the problem isn't the style but rather the exposure, or lack of it. The feeling was they had burned people out with so many matches like they have now, but Dave feels the burn out wasn't down to the style but due to the same people over and over again. Is unsure if the proposed news style will do good DVD sales, which is what drive the company. The current form of ROH is over for good, and if the new direction doesn't work, Dave doesn't know if there will still be a ROH. Thinks if ROH does close up, someone will try something new, but probably not in the current wrestling climate. Everyone was unaware this was going to happen, and a lot of wrestlers didn't find out until they woke up and saw the news on the internet. Apparently, Pearce sent out a memo to the wrestlers talking about the changes, and it'll be simple heels and babyfaces with the fans clearly knowing the reason. Dave's impression is that there won't be any public acknowledgment that Pearce is the booker, and even said the memo from Pearce said they were going to 'kayfabe that he's the booker', which Dave found humorous simply because it won't work as people are going to know he's the booker (Note from me: I get the impression the kayfabing is going to be done to everyone, not just fans, which is the part that makes it humorous). Pearce will still be talent, and Dave, who thinks Pearce does the style very well, will probably be a top guy. Pearce had almost certainly known for some time that something was going to happen

Interesting choice of phrase from Grisham to describe that match. The match itself was really good.

    Major Shakeup In ROH

Said that Gabe was fired by Cary and they are going in a different direction but nobody is saying what that means. Dave thinks the new booker will be announced at the November 7th show in Toronto, and they'll give a speech detailing what they're planning on doing. Said that booking isn't something someone can do for an extended length of time, and that historically speaking, you generally get two good years as booker before the ideas start to run dry. It may have to do with TV negotiations and the deal, which isn't imminent, and that the new booker may be someone more experience with booking a TV product. Dave talked with Cary this morning who said people would have to wait and see and that they wouldn't talk about it. Gabe didn't expect he was getting fired, so it appears he was totally blindsided. Dave thinks he would be effective in TNA, but it isn't going to happen. At this point, Bryan brings up, in relation to the two-year timeframe for booker's to have a good run, that it's been two years for the Russo-Jarrett-Dutch team in TNA. Dave brings up that while Gabe had ideas suggested to him and the like, he had to steer the whole ship and write everything himself, and that it was a tough job. Dave says it's impressive they've survived for so long in a tough period and have produced so many great matches. Dave points out that if a company is on it's way down, nobody in the company actually says so outright until it's late in the game. Thinks it could be a case where the feeling is they need to go in a new direction to grow from where they are now. In the current environment, where the popularity and direction of wrestling is ultimately determined by WWE, and it's down right now, even with a good product, it's going to a tough going for ROH, even with Gabe. Dave doesn't know who they are putting in the spot, but the Luke Williams name was speculated on by those close to the company. Dave describes his booking as old-school and bloody orientated, similar to Dutch Mantell. Dave doesn't know who it would be in terms of it being an experienced booker who is out there. Bryan thinks the only reason you'd axe the booker like this is if you said we need new faces and the booker refused, which Dave thinks it could be that someone has suggested to Slkin that ROH needs a new direction and Silkin agreed. The talent, and Gabe, didn't know this was happening. Dave thinks the decision was made during the week and they decided to wait until after the weekend events to tell him. Dave expects the current line ups, for advertised cards, to remain the same, and the first two shows will be a good indication of the new booker. Thinks the new booker could work more with TNA, but if ROH got TV then it would make them competition and they wouldn't be able to work together so much, if at all. Homicide's positive remarks about ROH at the show last night didn't endear himself to TNA management, and Dave points out that unless you're Kevin Nash, if you say anything negative about TNA, the booking committee punish you for it.

I'd like to see it get one week shy of beating the record and The Ultimate Haas run out and squash Santino in 30 seconds. But they don't have the patience for it to run that long. In any event, they can always go back to the Honk-O-Meter.

I can see the IC title changing hands because it doesn't mean anything and they can always switch it back tomorrow night. I think the IC and US titles are the ones most likely to change hands.

For a guy that charges $10/mo (or one can argue he charges $5 while Meltz charges $5), Alvarez really doesn't seem to know shit about anything. The 'argument' in question was a light hearted debate at best and nothing serious. I wouldn't judge Alvarez over that one instance. I understand that, but it seems he has no answers for a handful of his mailbag questions and continuously has no clue when the next TNA ppv is (for example). I'm sure he's just playing dumb on a lot of it, but it's a minor annoyance. I'm not sure what mailbag shows you're listening to, but he answers almost all of them. As for not knowing when the next TNA PPV is, there have been instances when some of the bigger TNA fans on the board haven't known a PPV is happening, and at one point a PPV thread wasn't started until an hour into the show, such was the lack of awareness that the PPV was taking place.

    Major Shakeup In ROH

From the wording, it looks like things have been building up over time and Silkin finally decided to just cut ties with Saplosky clean. If Sapolsky had no idea this was coming, then if there was 'no falling out' before the change, there will be one now. And Luke Williams as ROH booker?

    UFC 90: Silva vs Cote

Silva looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in the octagon. He seemed determined to do everything he could to keep physical contact to a minimum. It was very strange. Toying with him and was getting ready to take him out before the injury. This wasn't toying with someone. Silva looked completely bored for the entire fight, like he'd rather be anywhere else.

Not bad so far. Sherk/Griffin was a real good opener. And Dos Santos ended things with a fantastic looking uppercut.
