    Bret Hart "heart to Hart"

I think he considers it his greatest performance because once they got in the ring, Bulldog told him he'd gone blank and forgotten everything they'd laid out and Bret had to call the entire match on the fly.

    The Old School questions thread

When they did the vignettes with Raven and Hak, the idea at the time was to eventually do something with Raven and Piper.

Most shocked you have ever been while watching wrestling

I thought Foley only won because Ventura didn't want to raise the hand of a heel? It was because they didn't want Ventura to raise the hand of a heel. Austin did not refuse to put over HHH that night.

Eric Bischoff's idea, and it was mostly because he'd been on Raw once. Mongo ranks up there as one of the very worst announcers of all time.

    UFC 77: Hostile Territory

Anderson Silva is one scary fighter, and way above any current middleweight. He dismantled Franklin with ease, yet again. I can't wait to see who steps up next.

Well, that was the most boring fight of the year.

Approaching the 10th anniversary of the...

Just to clear up any misunderstanding about this part, Vince knew the WWF title belt couldn't get the garbage bin treatment. He had to make a story up for an unhappy locker room the next day, so he went with the idea that he couldn't risk the WWF title belt being thrown in the trash. It was never going to happen and couldn't happen anyway, which he was fully aware of.

Approaching the 10th anniversary of the...

Yes. Bulldog was meant to go over, and, knowing this, he dedicated the match to his dying relative. An hour before the show started, Vince went to Bulldog and asked him to put over Shawn with the explanation being that they wanted to build for a bigger show in Bulldog's former hometown where he would finally go over. While that idea does make sense, it's more than a little strange that Bulldog wasn't told about it until literally hours before the match. Why that happened should be obvious, considering who else was involved.

WWE General Discussion - October 2007

You think someone who has worked on any kind of successful television show is going to lower themselves to writing for WWE? Any half-decent writer is either going to avoid WWE like the plague or use it as a stop-gap until a job with a real television show comes along, in which case they're not going to put any kind of effort in. WWE having bad writing has little to do with their views on the union status of their writers and everything to do with who the writers are writing for and what that person wants out of them.

    Full Smackdown spoilers

Same source as the Raw and ECW spoilers, so blame them if you hate the comments: SmackDown opens with a recap of last week's stuff with the Undertaker. Tonight, JBL interviews Big Dave, and our first match is a WrestleMania Rematch: KHALI vs Kane. JOY! Kane beats Khali by DQ, after Kane was choked with wire for the DQ. Kane shoves Khali down after the match, and out comes Big Daddy V to squash Kane post-match. MVP vs Mysterio is later tonight. Matt Striker interview with Big Daddy V, warns that V will be coming to SmackDown to cause havoc. That's followed by Chuck Palumbo (w/ Michelle McCool) vs Chris Masters. Victoria comes out to attack Michelle McCool... that distracts Palumbo, allowing Masters to get the win via a roll-up. Backstage segment with Matt Hardy and MVP. MVP says that he feels like Matt is his friend, and he doesn't want the match at Cyber Sunday. Matt plugs the choices for the match, as we go to Matt Hardy vs Finlay. Matt wins after hitting the Twist of Fate - MVP came out and took the shillelagh off of Finlay. Major Brothers are up next. Drew McIntyre beat Brett Major (?) JBL interviews Batista - it's a shill for the book. Wang Yang & Moore beat Deuce & Domino with a sunset flip. Undertaker vs Jamie Noble, as per Vince's orders... Taker/Noble: squash match. Taker wins with the chokeslam. The entrances took longer than the match. It's announced the next UK TV taping tour is going to be in April - tickets go on sale Saturday October 27. A LOT of people left after the Taker match... it's just gone 10.30pm and Rey vs MVP is starting now. Rey vs MVP is going long - it's gone through one commercial break so far... MVP vs Rey was good until the finish - Finlay came out to attack MVP, causing Mysterio to lose via DQ. Rey then attacked Finlay as SmackDown went off the air. "Very flat finish".

    Favorite match finishes

What are some match finishes that you've really liked, either because it was well executed or because you thought it did a good job of getting a wrestler or storyline over? The finish that inspired this thread was the finish to the Backlash four-way main event this year, with Cena, Michaels, Edge and Orton. In case you didn't see it, it saw Orton attempt to RKO Cena only for Cena to push Orton off and into the path of a spear from Edge. Cena then FU'd Edge, with Cena then getting superkicked by Shawn. Shawn collapsed, and Cena fell onto a still prone Orton and got the pin. I really loved this finish for a number of reasons. First, it was executed perfectly, with everyone always being in position to hit their move and be where they had to be in order for the finish to come off as intended. Secondly, it did a great job of allowing Cena to luck into a win without looking undeserving, but at the same time making sure the main story coming out of the main event was that Shawn came within inches of becoming WWE Champion, only for circumstances to conspire against him. Cena gets to retain the title, but the finish was such that it sets up a rematch between the two for a PPV down the line.

    RAW thread for 10/15

Just trolling through old threads (it's been a boring day here) & I came across this. I guess the Raw Ratings aren't on the slippery slope as some people make out, seems like they've been slowly going downhill for a while. So why the recent complaints, why now? Complaints from who? USA network or people on this messagebard? If you mean from the network, I thinks it's because Bonnie's trying to take a more active role in whatever position she holds. Hammer is also unhappy because she was expecting Raw to get 4's and 5's.

    Cyber-Sunday Main Events

Or you could just put on consistently good PPVs. Relying on surprises to spike buy rates is a bad long-term move.
