When it comes to wrestling, for those running the company, the line isn't a moral one it's a business one. If a storyline offends more people than it brings in, then it was too far. Personal ethics aside, you know that some storylines that don't offend you will offend others, and if you're running the show you've got to think about whether it's worth the potential risk, when it comes to turning off people than you make tune in or offending sponsors or something of that nature. As a fan, I think the Vince storyline is going too far, as much for credibility as for taste. Even for wrestling, faking a death in this manner is just so nonsensical that, as amusing as has been to some people, there's nowhere to go with it that can make for any kind of acceptable payoff. As much as Vince wants to portray WWE as some 'action adventure' series, and as much as some people are using the 'it's just another TV show' to defend the angle's nonsensical nature, there are some things that just make no sense within the framework of a wrestling program. Assume the storyline ends up with it being revealed that Person X planted the bomb in the car and that Vince also, somehow, survived. How then do you logically explain that person not being arrested on charges of attempted murder? At least when the Horseman beat up Dusty Rhodes in the parking lot, you could, albeit at a bit of a stretch, accept that idea that Dusty didn''t want the police involved because he wants to get his revenge on the Horsemen in the ring. For the storyline to maintain whatever credibility it may have, even within the context of the show, you can't just have Vince ask for charges not to be pressed because he wants Person X to get beaten up in the ring. Even for wrestling, that would be stretching things too far. And if they decide to have it revealed that Vince faked the whole thing, for whatever reason, how do you deal with the fact that, presumably, the entire locker room and his whole family will hate his guts for putting them through the ordeal of thinking he's dead? Does it end up like every other angle involving Vince screwing people over and someone beats the shit out of him? That would be a letdown given how big the angle started and the fact that beating Vince up isn't that big of a deal anymore.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

TNA needs to be given THE CLAP. Then hire Missy Hyatt. She'll cost less. -
I agree with this idea, and have edited the sub-titles of each thread accordingly. This one really sucks, because you never heard anyone say a bad word about Sherri.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Posted in General Wrestling, but you can talk about it here as well. -
A 1.2 which, while it may be the lowest rating a UFN has received, I think is a a number close enough to the previous low water mark that I wouldn't be too upset over it.

Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

I have a vague suspicion London wasn't laughing for any reason other than he just found Vince funny and couldn't stop himself. And London is doing quite well for himself in WWE, considering his size. He's getting a reasonable push, he's not being buried, and he doesn't seem to be in danger of getting fired. All things considered, I'm sure London is quite happy to be where he is. -

It'll be the perfect angle if the follow up convinces the people who tune into Raw off of it to pay for a PPV or two. It's got people talking, which is step one. Step two is getting those people who wouldn't otherwise tune to tune in and stay tuned in, to see the next part of the angle. Step three is getting those viewers to pay for a PPV or something. -

One of the problems with this angle is where do you go from here? You just had the boss get blown up. How can you possibly follow this? There's no denying it's a spectacular and attention-grabbing angle, but it's so spectacular that anything after this is going to seem tame in comparison, no matter how well executed. -

I'm daring someone to cash in on this ill-conceived wager. -
It's a shame more people won't see this UFN, because it was really good, with an explosive undercard filled with KO's and submissions, and a fantastic main event. It was almost the prototypical fight card, with satisfying fights underneath that displayed great action, and a main event that blew you away. If this doesn't end up being the best live special of the year, then something really incredible must be on the way.

3.8, which is the same rating they've usually got lately. -
ROH: 6/8 (Boston) and 6/9 (Philly)

I was hoping for a classically happy ending, where Lacey finally falls for Jimmy and they become an item. Now, it looks like they're going with the idea that now Jimmy has slept with Lacey, he's realized he doesn't want her anymore. -

I don't think the Jimmy Loves Lacey storyline is anywhere close to being over. It's moved to the next stage, but it's far from over I'd say. That said, I don't like how they've gone with it, either. -

That people so devoid of any semblance of intelligence somehow have the capacity to type is astounding. -

Dave Taylor. Also seen when Coach was talking to Vince was Dan Rodman/Rodimer. You can see why Stephanie was high on the guy. -

After Raw went off the air a couple of weeks ago, the one with Cena and Lashley teaming, they had Lashley turn on Cena and leave him laying. The crowd responded most favorably to the turn. Could be they've have the idea of Lashley turning on Cena as something they want to do down the line and are setting it up. -

Based on what, exactly? Their match they just had was crap. Based on putting Benoit/Lashley on the road for a few months should give them enough time to work out a more than reasonable PPV match. Their match tonight wasn't the greatest, but I think there was enough there that, given time to get things sorted out, they could have a strong match on PPV. -

This would make it unlikely Lashley is going anywhere now. Benoit/Lashley on PPV for 15 minutes should be real good. -
