Oh, and this is why I said Jackpot. It's because I got this this week.
-
No, but I am still happy about what the Jackpot consisted of, so that could be why I'm feeling this way.

The Bret Hart "Screwed" DVD HAS to show how badly WCW botched his arrival and tenure there. That just defined the term screwed.

Shane Douglas planning ECW Reunion show
Zack Malibu replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in The WWE Folder
A)They're banking on nostalgia to sell this show. B)WWE 9/10 times could give a shit about actual talent. If they did, half the roster would still be in OVW attempting to learn. So far the only interesting thing about this PPV is waiting to see how much the unsigned guys (Mamaluke, Smothers, etc.) bust their ass in hopes of finally getting some notice and a possible contract. Filtering these guys into the developmentals so that the new guys have some experience to work with, or using them on Velocity/Heat (unless they strike gold with someone) would be beneficial to the company. -

I met him last spring down at URI. Took a few pics, got a signed photo, talked a little...wicked cool guy in person. -
I would take a Douglas curse-laden promo (dude really didn't need to swear to convey his emotion, but it was "cutting edge" so whatever) over a droning Trips snorefest ANY DAY, and that's not my personal bias talking. Of course, I would also take early-mid 90's Shane over Triple H workrate wise any day. Before he got lazy and injury prone, Douglas busted his ass.
-
I'd wear that before the baby blue tie-dye Shark Boy one.
-
That'd be a nice post and all if, you know, RVD HAD A GIMMICK. Other than surfer boy talk and pot references, he doesn't really have a thoroughly defined character.
-
Kash was David Jericho during the mid-90's before Chris Jericho meant anything to anybody. He was also Davey Morton (as he was teaming with trainer Ricky Morton) and Davey Tyler. ECW then played on his numerous names by calling him Davey Morton Tyler Jericho during '96, before turning him heel briefly as an FBI associate "Davey Paisano". I still fail to see how Kash is an RVD ripoff, and this is coming from someone who likes RVD. Goldberg's charisma came from his entrance? How exactly do you get charisma from an entrance may I ask? As for the tackle-like finishers, does that mean Goldberg ripped off Jim Duggan, or Edge is trying to be Monty Brown? These arguments REALLY aren't going anywhere people.
-
The special is in jeopardy because they don't know what will happen to BDSSP since Tom Arnold is leaving the show, and it was to run in conjunction with it.
-
Uh, Abyss > Kane, and Brown >>>>>> Goldberg. Plus, saying Abyss is a Kane ripoff is just like saying Kane is a Lord Humongous ripoff or something. Not every big masked guy is a ripoff of the previous one. Brown has tons more charisma than Goldberg. Only similarities is that Brown pummels opponents in quick fashion, something than many big men did en route to making them seem indestructible. Kash is nothing like RVD, save for what, a few moves? Funny this was mentioned though, since Kash was RVD's protege in the dying days of ECW.

I would just have the feud for the main event lined up, and have fans vote on the stipulation. TT is also a good way to get someone from SD! or have a "loser leaves town" match for someone to head from RAW to SD! without completely pissing on their draft ideas. I could live without another chain match, though.
-
Awesome to see MNM on the main roster (unless that was a dark match). Sucks that they'll debut on the B-show with no hype though. And no mention of Melina with them...hmmm.

The Bret/Montreal DVD is out in November. 2 of the old Coliseum tapes that they have been putting on DVD are TBA, but will be out in Sept. at the same time as the Warrior set.

Shane Douglas planning ECW Reunion show
Zack Malibu replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in The WWE Folder
They'd pay money to see Sandman, Sabu, etc when they wouldn't pay to see them in TNA? This is just showing that some of the ECW guys lost what few functional brain cells they had left from their stint there. Oh well. ECW was overrated trash anyway. And Shane plans on getting PPV clearance...how, exactly? -=Mike ..."Come on guys, work for me. It's be JUST like ECW. Well, namely, you won't be paid..." I never said they'd pay to see Sabu, Sandman, etc. I said they wouldn't pay $30 for the WWE B-team. -
I watched because I know Peter Manfredo, and trained with him in karate and kickboxing at his dad's gym when I was younger, before it turned into a full fledged boxing gym. Sad to see the hometown guy go down so fast, but according to an article in our local paper, all eliminated fighters will remain on the payroll so that they can be brought back in "fan favorite matches".

Shane Douglas planning ECW Reunion show

Douglas would have refused even if WWE offered money, just to spite everyone he hates within the company. -

Original Series Releases: Seasons 1 and 2 Seasons 3 and 4 Season 5 coming this summer. College Years:Complete Series New Class Season 1 New Class Season 2 Those are all the releases out/known of thus far. -
Conway and Dinsmore were awesome as a tag team, as well as on their own. They've put on some tremendous matches, but now Nick is limited by the Eugene gimmick, and Conway is forced to carry the load for Grenier. Personally, during the Draft this year, I'd love to see La Rez split and have Conway go to Smackdown. I think he could become a worthy singles competitor if taken away from the Resistance gimmick. As much as we need tag teams, those guys have run their course, IMO.

Shane Douglas planning ECW Reunion show
Zack Malibu replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in The WWE Folder
Even as creative as Heyman is, guys like Nunzio, Stevie, Dreamer, Rhyno, Tajiri, etc. have all been viewed as JTTS/midcarders their whole WWE tenure. All they're doing is combining the Velocity and Heat rosters for this show. As for any actual "star power": Benoit, Mysterio, Guerrero, etc. are all viewed as ex-WCW guys, not ex-ECW guys. The Dudleys are stale, and haven't even been around in months. RVD is hurt. While matches like Malenko/Guerrero or Mysterio vs. Tajiri (unless they got someone like Psicosis or Juvi) would be off the charts workrate wise, there's not a viable main event you can have. Then what do you have on the undercard? The FBI vs. The Dudleys? Richards vs. Dreamer? -
Shane Douglas planning ECW Reunion show
Zack Malibu replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in The WWE Folder
Reason #478 why I love Shane Douglas. No offense to the ECW talent already under contract to WWE, but they've wasted them and shat on them for YEARS now. No matter how much Big Stevie Cool or Rhyno or Dreamer meant to ECW, no one is going to pay $30 for matches they saw on Heat for the last three years. -
I can't really translate this, but what I get out of it is that you heard The Bashams were rivals in OVW. And you're right. Danny=Damaja, and Doug=Doug Basham aka The Machine.
-
And it's funny how OVW breeds actual tag teams with the help of by far the greatest tag team manager of all time, yet all those teams that wind up meaning something (Jersey Shore Crew, Troubleshooters) get broken up in favor of lame/unover singles gimmicks (Simon Dean, Masterpiece Chris Masters). Hell, OVW has more actual tag teams now than I think WWE has had since '02.

They have a DVD of this at the flea market I go to to get bootlegs. I had assumed it was a DTV release.
