I am thinking that peter ends up doing it on purpose. I think he kills Sylar, has a heel turn and does it on purpose.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

Come on now. He didn't get into the scrum. He broke it up and he clearly broke it up. Him getting a tech there was bullshit. THe techs should have been on Barnes, Terry, and Diop, but some how it became Davis and Jackson thus setting them off. But Baron was trying to get ejected after his 4th foul when he got directly in the refs face and screamed "WHO FOULED HIM!!!!!" so big deal. Jackson also was going to foul out, like Davis, so no big deal. I thought Dallas was going to win game 2, and they did. Now I think the Warriors will take the next two. This is a game that was closer than the score said. The Warriors were right there until a run in the 4th. Dallas still hasn't done anything to suggest that they can dominate the Warriors.

But its a character driven show. If you come in not knowing shit about the characters, it would be kinda boring I guess. Plus, there is no way you could follow the whole season off of last night. I wouldn't watch anymore and just watch the whole season.

You know what I just thought about? If Future Hiro tells Peter "Save the cheerleader, save the world" and in his time the New York bomb did go off, he obviously wasn't talking about the New York Nuke at all. I think that save the cheerleader means that Nathan's secret daughter is still around thus making it possible to bring up some scandal on Mr. "bring the world together". Fucking up his hold on the world thus, she saves the world by existing....

Just bought Rainbow 6 Vegas for 38 bucks from Compusa. The one down the street from me has a shit load of Wii games and PSP games for 30% off. I am guessing because noone really has a Wii in Atlanta!

    NFL 2007 Draft Thread

If they had done that they would be doomed to watching Vick win elsewere, watching Shaub do nothing, and sucking as a franchise (you know...back to normal). Dante Hall got traded tothe Rams for a 5th round pick. Great trade for the rams as there were ready to draft a kick returner, thus got a decent one in Hall.

No, they aren't. Especially Watchmen. What is this second generation that you keep trying to come up with? No, they are not. They aren't investigating any plot in Heroes. At all. Main plot points are Sylar and Peter trying not to explode. How is taht investigating a plot? Which is easily one of the most used plot devices in literature and cinema. One of which is trying to stop the nuclear race and the cold war so he wants to unleash an alien that will kill alot of people and make some crazy in New York which will make both sides think aliens are invading and join forces to focus on that. In Heroes, the villian is not going to stop a hero not being able to control his powers blowing up that is already destined (by accident by the way) to happen so that he can have a president in his pocket. Thats practically the same story, huh? You are drawing lines that don't exist and since they don't exist you are slightly adjusting each story so that they do fit your "BLATANTLY STEALING" rants.

No. It didn't. Nothing he said implied he was behind it. It was a tragedy that he knows is going to happen and could easily be stopped. Watch the show. There was a reason it was such a big deal that they panned in on Nuke dude when he said he always wanted to go to New York. We know the peter gets nuke guys powers to blow the city up so its kinda important that they be in the same place. ALL of the things that are happening are leading up to that point and that is what the whole show has been about. Leaving nathans presidency to chance would be stopping the big bang and Nathan not being the thing that brings the world together thus insuring his presidency. Linderman KNOWS what is going on but is not causing it. If anything he is trying to stop the people that are trying to stop it, but that isn't him making it happen. The only reason you are saying Linderman is the cause is because you want this "they are stealing from the Watchmen" thing to fly just like you tried to do that 2nd generation of heroes thing earlier. And they aren't different just because of the powers. They are different because the entire story is they are looking into the Comedians death and find about about Vierch's plan. In heros they get powers and one of them is going to blow up which they want to stop. The common thread was lindermans "for the greater good" speech which the only reason you know it is from Watchmen is because this is a show about superheros. If you DID watch 24 and watched Logan explain why he turned nerve gas over to terrorist , you wouldn't have drawn the same conclusion. For it to be a blatant rip off, the genre shouldn't matter.

Because they are obviously paying homage to the Watchmen. That is why. Anyone that has read it said "Hey, that is like in the Watchmen." But thats where it ends. the method of attack? different. The role of Linderman in the attack as opposed to Ozymandius, completely different. Once again, the ENTIRE show has been built around the fact that the events that Issac painted are GOING to happen no matter what. The characters in the show that know about it are trying to prevent it, but despite their best efforts, the ones that don't know about it are on a path to make it happen anyway. This is more of a Alejandro González type movie thing going on here where all the characters were completely separate but were actually all connected. Thus Linderman all of a sudden being behind the blowing up of Peter is going against EVERYTHING that the show has shown us. his speech was "I know this is going to happen. I have known it for a long time. But I am going to allow it to happen because I like what is going to happen as a result of it." He is a fucking mobster. There stories are NOTHING alike. At all. A bunch of regular people with some serious issues and with no superpowers that used to fight crime until it got outlawed trying to find out what is going on after one of their former parters is found dead versus people discovering they have super powers. Those aren't simular. The thing they have in common is a horrific event that at least one of the characters see as the greater good thus want it to happen. Which happens to be something that is utilized in every genre of entertainment for as long as I remember. They WANT you to think "Hey...Watchmen!!" the same way the Incredibles wanted you to think "Hey....Watchmen" when they had the outlawing of super beings. Niether is a blatant rip off or stealing anything.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

I thought Kobe would be able to will them to at least 1 or 2 wins and the Suns would take it in 6, but moving James Jones to the starting lineup and allowing Diaw to come off the bench as the playmaker with Barbosa in the second unit was a move a genuis by D'Antoni (even with Jones shooting like shit). That changed pretty much everything. Plus Phil still refuses to play Turiaff who plays the pick and roll well and stays with Amare better than anyone else on the team.

I agree they are looking for a reason to drop him. he is stupid for providing it. But I don't blame him for having a gun. He is Marbury's cousin. You can set your watch to Marbury getting robbed in the offseason at a stop light at gunpoint. They are targets, but you have to go about everything the right way.

    Heroes

Those examples are as dumb as someone claiming Heroes ripped off Watchmen because they're both about superheroes. Again, what most people don't seem to understand about this is that it isn't about abilities or other generic stuff like that. Your examples just deal with archetypes or generic superpowers. No one cares that Claire's regeneration has already been done in comics before because it's such a trivial subject. Heroes took a very specific storyline from Watchmen that isn't just some generic stuff like The Incredibles using the "superheroes are banned" concept. But once again, we are talking about a plot point that is the staple of film and literature before and after the Watchmen. On 24 when Nukes were relased into the hands of muslim terrorist so that certain people could get policy passed because they saw it as the greater good for the country, they weren't ripping off watchmen. On Buffy when they know that they can Kill Dawn and save the world, or not kill her and the world goes to hell...same thing. They have to do something "bad" for the greater good and have to make a decision. On Angel, Jasmine brought the world peace at the cost of free will and a few thousand innocent lives. Once again, the decision of evil for the greater good. you can do this with SO many different movies and books of all different genres. The thing that is making you draw the parallel here is that this is about super powered people, which is kinda like a comic which the Watchmen was. Lindermans speech is no different than 3-4 other speeches that have been heard on 24 for the last few years about being a patriot and doing what was best for this country. This is like accusing a show of blatantly ripping off another show because they both had a red herring.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

Yeah, i misread you. And coupled with some article I read where the guy was saying it is tough to play a bad defense like the suns because it makes you take shots you wouldn't normally take and kill the offense and that is what is happening with the Lakers. Which was ridiculous.
  15. Again, he says it shouldn't go specifically to one race. Things like that only keep the divide. And he also hates the term African-American. Yeah, he's a conservative, church-going type, I guess that makes him an idiot, too. Like I said I'm not a really good friend with him but we've discussed those types of things when out golfing, etc. AGAIN. Your friend is a idiot. I don't care what he has done and what type of person he is. He is a idiot. I noticed you slid his dislike of historically black colleges out because really any argument against them is just plain retarded. Now you are going to point out funds that are are earmarked for EIGHT percent of the population? EIGHT PERCENT. The VAST majority of all scholarships are going to go to white students because they are the VAST majority in the population. Mathmatically, what your friend is suggesting is that scholarships shouldn't be marked for a race and that they should just be in the scholarship lottery I guess where by the numbers they are likely not to get any of the money. It doesn't create a divide, it provides a means for parity. Without things like this, there is a enormous advantage to not being black, or any other minority for that matter. The population disparity is always going to be there and removing things to even the playing field just a little is ridiculous. And who the fuck cares what he thinks of African American. He has proved himself to be a idiot. Don't name other stuff he believes. You will be hurting all those other causes.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

No commitment on the defensive end. Nobody wants to play defense, so they won't win any games. The Clippers didn't deserve to get in though, they blew so many opportunities late and early in the season. You want to get in, start well or finish great. When you don't try to play defense, it's BAMBAM and a sweep. The lack of defense has been a problem all year, but Phoenix didn't put up a ton of points in any particular game this year. The Lakers have enough offense to win games, but no defense that can keep them around long enough to beat the Suns. Before someone mentions the Lakers lack of points, when you play such bad defense you have to take quick shots, and usually they're bad ones. Thus the low FG percentage. Will never understand why Kwame and Bynum aren't both starting... there has been nothing bad about the Suns D in these two games. they are playing great D. Outside of Kobe hitting some impossible shots in game one, they have been in lockdown mode.

The thing with Telfair, he got held up at a resturant last year, I am not shocked that he has a loaded gun with him. Just stupid if he didn't have a registered one. I don't understand why people say him getting robbed last year was another him getting in trouble either. You have that boneheaded move in portland and now this, but seriously, i haven't seen anything bad from the kid...outside of his defense.

That's not even a vague similarity. It's the same. Supeheroes being "outlawed" in both Watchmen and The Incredibles doesn't even begin to come close to the level of similarities between Heroes and Watchmen.

This has a chance to turn into something very ugly very quickly if the Lakers don't step up the D. The shooting stroke for everyone is back tonight. Except James Jones of course. Because he is only useful on offense for 3 months a season

I was just about to say that Incredibles is a closer straight rip off of Watchmen. And yeah, just saying that I don't know what I am talking about isn't exactly going to win the argument here. Heroes is obviously INSPIRED by the watchmen. I am intersted in seeing what you are saying is "downright" stolen. It being in New York? Seriously, people would draw the line between the two seeing as the stories have nothing in common, the characters are completely different for numerous reasons, and you are trying to draw a parallel between Linderman and Veidt which is just...wrong on so many levels if you are trying the story is the same. Once caused, the other knows whats going to happen....not exactly the same there.

I am saying that if they saw a watchman movie and then watched heroes, I think they probably wouldn't see the connection. They really aren't that similar. Obviously, parts of this is from Watchmen, but seriously, it isn't really blatant or even copyright infringing level here.
