Read: We realized how much money we can get out of this old bastard. But here's what bugs me the most: Saying they were thrust into this by no fault of their own isn't entirely accurate. They could have easily either A) Not shown up for the press conference, or B) Stood up to Imus at the press conference and said "You can't take this moment away from us with your idiotic comments because we're stronger than that." Instead, they were "scarred for life." A: What money? What are you even talking about? How will they get any money out of this situation. B: Um, it did strip away their moment. Honestly now, if someone mentions the Rutgers Womens Basketball team, how many people are going to first think of their improbable run in the NCAA tourny all the way to the championship game? How many will think of Don Imus and nappy headed hos. His comment started to strip it away, the attention that it got completely ripped it away. They weren't the ones to complain at first. The comments were heard, and a stir started. As it gained more and more attention, they finally held a press conference a WEEK later. It is entirely accurate. Imus gets most of the blame because he made the comment, the people acting like he drug a black baby from the back of his truck get a some blame for making sure you couldn't take two steps without hearing this story. All these girls did was play basketball and next thing you know, through NO actions of their own they were being called nappy headed hos a MILLION times in newspapers and news cast across the country. You are honestly going to rip on them for eventually making a statement?

I guess i am old fashioned. In my day, once you cut a guys head off with a hacksaw, you win any badass tournament you are in.
-
In fairness to Imus, not too many white women or hispanic women wear their hair like the second one from the right. Doesn't make the comment right, but still. But still what? I don't think I am gathering the point here.

Except it is. Its very easy. There is no shortage of artist in the hip hop genre not doing that type of music. of course, if you are going to use Viacom owned companies as what hip hop has to offer, you will disagree.

The mutha fucker went in the Russian Embassy and tortured the Consulate by cutting off his fingers with a cigar cutter. He asked his boss to fire him so that he could go and break the fingers of a guy who used lawyers to say he couldn't be questioned by the government. He tortured a guy with a table lamp for christ sake. He got hooked on heroin and got a tattoo of a Mexican Druglord on his forearm to keep cover. He shot a informant in the chest, cut off his head with a hacksaw just so he could get back inside with a terroist group more QUICKLY (as in, he probably could have gotten back in anyway, butjust in case, he cut the fucking guys head off)

Jason Whitlock can suck dick. You can just as easily find non negative hip hop as you can find negative hip hop. Just as you can find action movies instead of family movies. Once again, his retarded argument is that "Hey, we shouldn't care if a person makes a racist comments because other people make racist comments." Really. Could you see lawyer saying, "Well, your honor, its not like my client is the only person to fuck a 8 year old..." and it working? I get tired of well off black people (think Bill Cosby and his dumb ass rant) pretending to still have a complete understanding of the generations after them. What the hell was the Rutger coach supposed to do? Say nothing. Her players, through NO fault of their own have been thrust into a big headline catching story. Of course she should take the time to defend the players that parents have trusted her to take care of. But no. She should have talked about 50 Cent apparently.
-
Actually Sharpton is one of the biggest critics of "gangsta" (if that genre still exist) rap music. He led a protest and asked for a boycott of 50 Cents songs like a week before this happened. So what we are saying here, is that as long as I make one racist comment I am cool until everyone make two or more get stopped.

Stupidest fucking argument in the history of forever. I can't believe the OJ case got so big. There are countless other murders that kill far more than two people. I can't belive that the Iraq war story got so big. There are countless other wars that have far more casualties. I can't belive that the Hitler story got so big. There are countless other ruthless dictators that had many more people killed. I can't belive that the Clinton/Lewinsky thing got so big. There are countless other presidents that got more than head. Seriously...really really stupid argument. You could apply that theory to ANY piece of news that ever comes out. There's other murderers, but not as famous as O.J. There's other wars, but not involving the U.S. The last one just doesn't even make any sense. It's not the same here - Imus is a fucking nobody and there are shit loads of rappers much more famous than him that say much worse shit.

Yeah, its media attention that is driving it, but setting an example isn't going to stand up if say Jones sues the league. bottomline, if they had waited until he at least got charged they might have something to stand on. Or if he gets convicted, throw a two year suspension on there. But we are talking about a guy having 4 misdemenors in the last 3 years losing a year of play while a guy with obviously more serious offenses in the same amount of time gets 8 games. He can't even argue that these are more severe due to new policy becase Henry sets the bar for the new policies. He has literally been convicted of 4-5 offenses while Pacman, has been convicted of one or two at the most. He should have just suspended them both for the year. And yes. Pacman is quite retarded.

It could go two ways. Either Dallas would get used to the pace and be ready for the suns, or they will get used to playing so open then run into a suns team that is easily twice the defensive team that Golden state is. Plus, I don't think Dallas wants to have to run like that for two rounds. Of course all this is determined on the Suns getting past San Antonio so I won't talk to much because that could very well not happen.

And who's saying there shouldn't be any consequences? The issue is whether the consequences he's having to face are proportionate to the remarks that he made. And they're not. He told a dumb joke. Somehow, that's supposed to be so awful and offensive that he has to be suspended for two weeks. Eric is right about context. The problem is that no one seems to care about the context anymore. Yes, and Michael Richards told a dumb "joke". I am not a joke expert but making a racist comment about someone isn't really a joke. Its making a racist comment. Calling them "nappy headed hoes" is as much as a "joke" as pointing at a black person and saying "NIGGERNIGGERNIGGERNIGGER" This is why comedians, white and black, can tell jokes with a race based slant and get away with it. There is a difference between a joke and name calling. If YOU called someone a nappy headed hoe at your job, you would be fired. Two weeks for racist name calling sounds fair I guess. The most fair thing is the press that he has gotten and hopefully it will cut back on some of his guest on the show. SOMEHOW it supposed to be so offensive? Really, when does Anti-PC stop? Its past the point of laughable now. Its a bigger joke that the Ultra-PC movement.

How can they possibly hold up the suspension? You get a year now for spitting on someone? Or for getting in a fight two years ago? Embarass...whatever. He hasn't even been charged in the Las Vegas thing yet, let alone convicted. They are still investigating to determine if he will be CHARGED. You can't suspend a guy with no pay for year because he might be charged with a crime. The Union will eat that apart even if they aren't really happy about it. And if the Union doesn't, then Pacmans own lawyers will. I honestly think its kinda unlawful unless they were suspending him with pay.
-
Huh? I never realised saying "nappy headed ho" was a racial slur. whats the huh about? People are free to make you pay for what you say. If you don't believe me, go and tell your boss he/she is a worthless cunt and see what happens. then say you have freedom of speech. See how that works out for you. Imus is free to say whatever the hell he wants to say. MSNBC are free to punish him for said statements. I give up. I don't see how anyone with a slight piece of what resembles a brain could take what he said and say "Well...that wasn't racial at all".
-
We are on page 3...you lose.
-
They can suspend him for not reporting the obstruction of justice and marijuana arrest even though they were thrown out later. Its in his contract that he has to report all incidents with the law and he didn't. But there is no way to even try and turn that into a year suspension. And if they are taking into account ALL of the stuff they have been convicted up, all they have on Jones is a fight and probation violation. You could probably push 1-2 games out of that. But no way a season holds up.
-
By the way, anyone that had page 3 in the "When will someone bring up McCarthyism" pool, you win. Now we start the "When will someone compare this to Nazi Germany" pool.

Speech is free. So are the consequences of speech. Radio air waves are regulated. He has boundries in which he has to adhere to. If can call everyone nappy headed hoes all he wants, but you can't bitch about the consequences of your actions if you do so. If he had said those are some ugly chicks not only would he have been right for the most part, he wouldn't have gotten that much flack. Instead he decided to make a racial remark, and well. Fuck him. He has to live with the consequences. Just last week Sharpton was calling for the banning of 50 Cent songs because of some shit that happend. This is what he does. He calls for the banning and firing of people for saying or doing dumb shit. Same way he was on those dumb DJ's asses for that Tsunami Song, and for that other shock DJ talking about raping another DJ's 5 year old daughter. Imus is receiving the same treatment they got, only the mainstream press gives a shit about this story.
-
Which makes Jack a bigger badass. If someone disagrees with him, he just says Dammit really loud and goes and does himself. Fuck man, he shot a woman in the leg just because she was married to the guy he wanted info from. Shooting someone for being a snitch is a legit reason. he tried to kill his brother for killing his friend. And Bauer cried like a girl for 45 seconds and then went right back to work...after a day he lost a woman he cared about, cut off his partners hand, almost saw his daughter die on a mission, killed Ryan Chapelle, and got off of smack. That guy deserved a little water works.

Why is it dumb? Jones deserves to be suspended for a year. I need to preface this by saying that Jones needs to be gone from the NFL, before people think I am defending him. BUT. At the end of the day, he got in a fight at a club, acted like a bitch to a valet, acted like a bitch when he got his wallet stolen (allegedly stolen that is) and spit at someone, acted like a bitch and spit in some other girls face because...well..he is a spoiled little bitch and didn't stick to his parole enough in connection with the fight. Yes, that is a long list of stuff, but at the end of the day, he got in a fight and spit at some people. Thats all they can base the suspension on because he hasn't been charged with anything in the Vegas incident, and the other charges were dropped (the marijuana and the obstruction charges) On the other hand, you give Henry, who has been convicted of Drunk driving, pot posession, gun charges, driving without a licenseand giving alchohol to minors only 8 games. AND he had a sexual assalt accusation (if we are going on being accused of something should get you suspended) His list of infractions that are indisputable are longer and more serious than Jones's yet he gets half as many games? That just left the window open for an appeal. What they should have done was give both of them an entire season. As it stands now, I don't see how Jones won't be able to appeal and get his moved down to 8 games at worse, and argue that if Henry is the precedent for misconduct, get even more games taken off, like down to 6. And fuck that because this spoiled ass child doesn't need to only miss 6 games. Even if the Vegas thing is wrong (and I actually do have to question why someone who wasn't there is the only person saying Jones was with the shooter.) I still don't like his bitchtivity so much that I don't want to see him in the league.
-
Well that was stupid. Gives Jones something to appeal. Especially when Henry is only getting 8 games. yeah...that was pretty dumb.
-
yeah he did...thats why I said bad boys 1. Although the scene with them trying to scare the kid there to pick up martins daughter still makes me laugh. I think it was a product of him trying to adlib with martin and not being as good at doing it so he just cursed alot. "I just wanna know if the nigga can fight!"
-
That is one ugly woman.
-
I prefered cussin Bad Boys 1 smith.

It was boring, and anyone could have acted that role. I hate Will Smith in dramatic roles and I will say he did a wonderful job in this movie. It was a decent movie, but his performance was pretty fucking good. Especially in the bathroom scene and when he finds out he got the job. Powerful stuff.
