Calling someone a nappy headed ho is a racial slur. Anus can be a body part or a insult. bitch has multiple meanings. Language will always have context and you are purposely skating around the obvious point. Sitting in a barber's chair and them saying "Your hair is pretty nappy" isn't the same as saying "those are some nappy headed hos" an you know it. How it is used is important here.

    Box Office Report...

It is a family film for kids and something for adults to laugh at along the way while their kids are watching. it isn't for your adult ass to watch alone. This is no different than any live action film disney does. What exactly were parents supposed to take their kids to see? Grindhouse or 300? I find most family comedys to be stupid and non funny, but its not for me so I don't bitch abou it.

I am pointing out how the same word can be used amoung one group but not among others. There is a certain irony involved about using a racial slur about someone of the same race. If a person of a different race does it, the irony is gone. Then its just a racial slur. Once again...I just don't see how this is confusing because its not like it is a rarity in life.

Who seriously argued that? Talk radio in Atlanta and oddly the majority of the people were saying how it was slander that she said he used a racist term when he was just heckling her if all he said was that, Or you can look at that talkback section of ESPN to see. And the comments section of at least my local paper (AJC). It really was argued.

Its not a double standard. One one hand, the word nigger comes with a history when uttered from white people of oppression, violence, and hatred and a powerful insult. When it comes from blacks with "nigga" it got turned into a adjective. Thats it. It could have negative meanings, positive, either one. But what it is without is the history it has coming from whites. A standard has been set for over a hundred years for a certain race and not for another. And to quote Chris Rock when someone asked him why can't they say it, Why would you want to? In what situation would you be in that you need to say nigga? There isn't a white person walking that haven't been taught saying Nigga to a black person would be seen as a insult. You know this. So in saying it, I know that you KNOW its inappropriate. Once again, lets not pretend here. Context is the word the day. in the examples I presented earlier are you saying you think its not fair that you aren't allowed to walk up to random women and call them bitches because they might do in their circle of friends? If you think that is unfair, then fine, you are right, its a double standard. But something tells me that there are words, insults and such that are said amoung your friends that are acceptable but if some guy off the street said them to you, there would be problems.

If someone called a black person a "Big lipped nappy headed negro" is that not racist too because his lips are larger than the average white persons and his hair isn't straight and Negro isn't a racist term? I don't see how you could possibly not be seeing a differnence here.

I will never undestand why it is so hard to for people to wrap their head around this. A group of girls are laughing giggling and playfully call one another bitch. You walk up and say "Hey bitches, how are you doing tonight". Would you expect them to be upset? A bunch of smokers are outside and another comes up, gets alight and says "We are all going to die of cancer". Do you think noone would get upset if you, not smoking a cig walks by some smokers and says "You are all going to die of cancer" to them? Think of the other thousands of incidents where you saying something wouldn't be appropriate when others can say it because of the context that it come with. It isn't a rarity. Its nothing that is hard to find. So why is it SO weird that blacks can joke about things to other blacks that would at the very least be awkward and inappropriate for others to say? It occurs everywhere all the time with all these differnet cases. Context eric. You are still pretending that it doesn't exist.

And something that some white people don't get is that there isn't some invisible tube connecting all black people making us one entity. We are actually separate people with separate views. If a black guy says something stupid like "Blacks should get reparations" then THAT black guy is a fucking idiot. But that doesn't get said. They say "There go BLACKS again talking about slavery. If Fred Phelps says that it’s good that US soldiers die because America is a land of fags, then it’s Fred Phelps who is a disgusting idiot. But no one says "There go WHITES again talking about homosexuals". Most black people know OJ is a killer, don't care about repararations, aren't fans of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton and never watched UPN on Mondays. So some white people are sick about hearing about slavery? Why not notice it’s the same fucking people talking about it all the time. I think if you start looking at every negative story or statement made by a white person and imagine what it would feel like if you were held equally responsible for said statement you would maybe start to understand the frustration when some people get on the "whoa is the burden of the white man" and the "you can't be racist against white people" BS. Perfect example, Michael Richards goes on a racist rant. Not once did I see it written "This proves white people are racist" or "This proves the problem of racism in the white community". It turned into "What was Michael Richards thinking" or the ever so popular "Well, black people say it all the time. If he had been a rapper there would have been no problem". Tim Hardaway goes all homophobe, and off the top of my head I can think of 4 articles saying how it proved the problem of homophobia in the black community, and dozens upon dozens statements by bloggers about how it proves that blacks are the most intolerant people. Because Tim Hardaway suddenly became black PEOPLE instead of ball headed dude that looks like the guy that had that song "I wish I was a little bit taller".

Its the same as when people were arguing that the guy that screamed to Serena Williams " Yeah, hit the ball like any Negro would" wasn't racist because Negro isn't a racist term. The Hos part was misogynist, the nappy headed part was racist. Unless we are going to start pretending that context doesn't exist.

    24 - Season 6

Jack pointing the gun at the guy, realizing he was alone, taking a deep breath and saying fuck it was one of the more badass moments ever. He knew it was about to take some shit to get out of there. Plus the music was perfect for the scene. And Doyles "Damn, Jack." was what I am sure everyone was thinking.

What the hell does slavery have to do with anything? Here is a clue. If you see someone on television arguing for: 1: Apologizing over slavery 2: Reparations They are likely retarded or a part of some group wanting money. "Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the Negro is still not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land." The reason it was so powerful is because it was true. Civil Rights Act...1964. Was still being fought HARD until the fucking 70's. Most of my generations parents felt what it was like to not truely be free. It wasn't exactly a picnic for us late 70's early 80's babies either. Slavery was sad and blah blah blah. And I agree. Every slave owner should have to apologize and give reparations to every slave. They can meet at my apartment... I am sure I have room for everyone that should show up. But no clear thinking person gives two shits about slavery outside of "Wow, may ancestors went through something." Clear thinking people have better shit to do with their time than to blame alive people for the flaws for their dead relatives.

Dear Lord the whining. Every time a story comes out with a white person saying something stupid or a black person saying something stupid it goes "Black people can say what they want and whites can't" or "See, blacks are racist but noone says anything" "Whaa whaa, black comedians say stuff and get away with it, but white ones don't as long as I completely ignore Sarah Silverman, Ralphie May, Ari whats his face and the dozens of other white comedians whose act is race related or shock humor don't actually exist...they are figments of our imagination." Stop fucking crying. I know I will never understand the white mans burden and how tough it is coming up in a society where you are the 80 percent majority, thus I can never understand your pain, but seriously....stop whining. He said something stupid and racist. This isn't an attack on the white race. Its an attack on a strange looking guy that said somthing racist. And yes, it is racist. I know in this new anti politically correct era, as long as you don't say nigger, its not racist, but i find it hard to believe that if it was a all white girls team out there he would have called them nappy headed hos. His comment was and insult that was derived from their race. It was a racist comment. I don't know why he is aplogizing to Sharpton or who ever the fuck else, but he said it. It was racist, and MSNBC now are in "lets not lose sponsors" mode. And the few hundred years ago thing is cute. Whatever helps with the whining I guess.

Nothing really. Just wanted to point out something stupid. Oh wait...I have to contribute to the thread. Yes what he said was racist, should he be fired, I personally don't care. He rips on Christians all the time, you would think two "men of god" like SHarpton and Jackson would have jumped on him earlier, but I guess there isn't any money in defending Christians.

    NBA - April 8-18

I remember at the start of last year when everyone was on his nuts and I was pointing out that there was a reason that he got ran out of Cleveland and Phoenix(yes, dude complained during a 10 day contract). But seriously, when exactly did he decide that he should save his energy for the offensive end? The whole reason he was able to stick with the Lakers was because of his defensive pressure. Now he Vince Cartering it out there.

Just about to say that. I liked the movie, but I wasn't floored by it. I was floored by some of those continuous shots, and either they used some of the more clever editing I have ever seen or they pulled off something amazing there.

Josh Smith gets suspended for 2 games for having words with mike Woodson last night. That got me to thinking. Who would I put on the all asshole team. Like the guys who just strike me as legitimate assholes and their teammates probably really don't like them that much or have to explain "Oh, thats just ________" In no particular order: Nate Robinson: Seriously, dude obviously has short man complex and seems like that type of guy that would need to be center of attention all the time. Just seems really assholish. Shawn Marion: Its his constant whining every year about how he doesn't get respect and blah blah, plus he just has a certain arrogance about him that just makes him seem like he is a big asshole...which is funny because Amare Stoudimire: Might possibly be a bigger asshole than Marion. And they are on the same team. You can tell they don't particuarly care for each other, and Amare really seems to have that "i am the greatest" asshole quality about him. Steve Nash is both of there wrangelers and can take them down a notch when needed. Josh Smith: Everyone pretty much knows he is a asshole. Josh Childress is his wrangler. But the guy really has all the asshole qualities. dumb whine face when things don't go his way, screaming at a teammate for a bad pass or bad rotation...its all there. Ben Wallace: really...just strikes me as a asshole. Not sure why...just seems assholish. My bench would be the obvious assholes like Danny Fortson, Reggie Evans, Ruben patterson...you know...no suprises there. Coach would be Jerry Sloan.

    Rape

I think the point that I made earlier is being missed. Being arrested isn't the same as going to prison. Thus, weed accounting for 10 percent of arrest doesn't translate into 10 percent of the prison population(thus legalizing weed will not free up 10 percent of the population in prisons) I don't have any numbers and won't pretend that I do, but if I had to guess, I can't see the prison population being more than 2-3 percent off having weed, and once a gain, you have to have a really good amount to get prison time.

Watching the Celtics play, it looks like they want to be a grind it down in the half court type of team. If they wanted to run, Telfair should be getting more playing time, because despite his sucking the big one in half court sets, he is one of the better open court guards in the league. I think Hibbert is slow, but he doesn't lack a good gas tank and he is pretty athletic. He just isn't that touch the top of the back board come flying from all over the court athlete.

While I know that Oden is supposed to be the future and all, Al Jefferson really does seem like he can be a franchise player on the low block at the PF position. You don't really need a two post up players that need the ball on the block. They would be better served getting a shotblockers, rebounder that doesn't really need the ball. They can trade up and get a guy like Hibbert, and get something really good for one of those top picks if they have it.
