NBA 2K6 and NBA Live 2006

The games came out (suprised me) and I have played both. As always, Live is rated higher, despite in the past year bing leagues below what they were doing on the 2k games. I honestly could never understand how someone could possibly consider the EA effort to be better games. Live is a little better this year, but still the same ol arcadey crap that I haven't liked since 1996. NBA 2K6, with all of its changes, still pretty much feels like last years effort, although the AI and the way some of the players play is more realistic. I still prefer 2k6, although I won't be buying either. College Hoops has been the best basketball game out there for 2 years now and I don't anticipate that changing this year so I will be waiting for that.

I have said this constantly. Last years Heat thrived because Dwayne Wade had the ball in his hands 90% of the time. you add real point guards to that team and they take away their biggest strength. They will have to make trades by midseason to have this team nearly as effective.

    50 Cent vs Dr. Dre?

Because Em would side with Dre. Em credits Dre with saving his life. Em credits 50 for making him some more money. Em has gone to bat for Dre in beefs. He is still cool with the people 50 has battled. 50 has also continuously said how Eminem isn't really needed for him to be famous and how he would have made it anyway. The Em - 50 battle is coming. I am still patiently waiting.

GOddamn. When the hell did I say I was going to stop posting anywhere. I pretty much ONLY post here. And mike...seriously...that is ONE of the most hypocritical post I have read in a while. *scans CE folder for recent MikeSC post* In two weeks, the season will start, and there will actually be something of substance to talk about. Right now, this is the most important thing going on in the NBA. its preseason for christ sake. And that was nice of Marbury to buy each of the rookies 10 suits. You all can call me delusional all you want, but spending almost a 1/4th of your yearly income ONLY on clothes for work (not counting the rest of your clothes mind you) would hurt, no matter what you do for a living. And Barkley, while he was making good points on Leno and has been a vocal advocate for a dress code before any of this was instituted, still once again displayed how out of touch he was with realty, much like most rich people. I still like the guy, same as I still like Bill Cosby, but both of them were talking out of their asses there.

Who the fuck goes on a job interview with a do-rag and a throwback on? When someone has been rich for so long I think they go a little out of touch with reality.

which goes back to me saying this is a stupid policy. that is a dumb line of thought, held by dumb people, so how can this be anything but dumb if it is made to appease them?

I find it wrong to suggest that wearing anything but a suit is a "bad image to the youth". If you (YOU particuarly) want to run from every non white not wearing a suit because they are thuggish and threatning, then fine, but to present that as a valid line of thinking for the rest of society to live by is ridiculous and it helps to keep purely incorrect stereotypes alive and well.

In the "discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion" sense of it, I guess that argument could be made(because of the jewlery thing). I won't exactly say that. I will say that one aspect of it (ESPECIALLY the jewlery part) is aimed squarely at the african americans in the league, but this dress code affects all the players, so it can't really be said this is aimed at a race. It is still just incredibly stupid.

I have posted in all of 5 threads in a month. All in Sports and Video games. I have god knows how many post in this thread, so don't pretend that I have come running around saying "let me save them blacks" If you want to be honest, those making the least amount of money in the league are those 200 k per year are the white guys waving towels on the benches. And you people aren't absorbing what I am saying. I am reading this and become more and more sure that none of you have ever had a suit tailored before. I am a little muthafucka and that shit cost me like 800 dollars. "OMG, they spend 400 on a THROWBACK". SO THE FUCK WHAT. at the time, it was rumored that they were going to be required to wear suits, which prompted Marcus Camby's comment and prompted my comment. While that isn't the case anymore, if they WERE required to wear suits to EVERY game, and assuming they don't wear the same one over and over, and have to wear one to all press apperances, traveling you are talking, easily, a extra 20k out of a guys pocket in a year. I know, KG makes 20 mil a year, well Royal Ivey makes 150 k per year after taxes, and I am pretty sure had his own expenses before the newly implimented dress code came into play and all of a sudden has to drop a extra 20k. Hell if you want to even dealve deeper into it, take a 2nd round draft pick that signed for league minimum and is going to take home 150k this year. He A doesn't get it all at once, B: has start up expenses of a new home, what ever family expenses and such. Just because people get paid more than you doesn't mean money isn't a problem and "SUPRISE, here is a 20k bill that you weren't expecting" simply isn't fair to a small, yet very viable part of the league. The rule wasn't going to be put just to the High paid guys. It would have effected every. BUT The real dress code came out and had nothing to do with wearing suits all the time, thus making ALL THAT and Marcus Camby's statement null and void. But I personally have worked at 2 jobs that shifted their dress requirements drastically and gave money to the employees to cover it, so if the NBA wants to keep using the "this is the same as the real world business" line then they should act like it. I still find the dress code to be bullshit and it does read like they sat around and said "Now what else do those hip hoppers wear....jewlery....yeah...lets get rid of that too." They weren't dressed like hoodlums. They were dressed like every other athlete from every other sport dresses. Comfortable. Of course there will be the dumbass who think anything but a shirt and tie or tight jeans and tucked in shirt is dressing like a "thug" but seriously, those people are fucking idiots. Plus, how can the NBA say wearing sports jerseys display a bad image when they are selling them at the goddamn arena to the people that came in the building. Way to clean up the leagues image. By telling all its fans buying the merchandise that they are dressing like thugs. Really stupid policy sez I. The NBA is now home of the dumbest age limit policy and the dumbest dress code policy in American sports. Way to go Commish.

Amare Stoudemire to undergo knee surgery

People keep saying that but Marion was good for 12 Rebounds like 2 blocks and 2 steals a game in that series. Its not like he completely disappeared. Its just with one guy averaging damn near 40 points a game, another at damn near 30 there werent many shots to go around there. As for Kurt Thomas, i am looking at a Kidd/Martin situation here. You have a guy that is a solid rebounder and a damn fine midrange shooter and scorer around the basket and the suns have a point guard that WILL get you open and find you. He will see a spike in his numbers. The same way Jason Kidd made Kenyon Martin look like he was actually special.

This is still bullshit. The "other companys have dresscodes" shit doesn't even work into the argument because when they aredoing their jobs, they are wearing their jerseys and shorts. They can have all the mandates in the world about that, but they are saying how these guys have to travel and dress basically outside of work. Iam going to predict the future here. They are going to outlaw cornrows soon. Call me paranoid or what ever, but they are going to start telling guys how to cut their hair pretty soon. And yes, 600k is alot, but when you have ALREADY spent money on a wardrobe then all of a sudden you have to buy a ENTIRE new wardrobe, we are talking alot of money.

    OAO 10/15 Impact Thread

I think he was supposed to blow a spot, but honestly I think he blew it ALOT worse than he meant to. It was obviously a cue for Daniels to hightail it and they chose not to edit it out, but there was no way that AJ was suppose to be landing anything there. I mean, look at where daniels was standing. WTF was he going to do?

    Jay-Z: "I Declare War!"

I am sorry but you could hear "OOOOHHHHH" after every line in 2nd round knockout. He destroyed LL. Then LL later said in another (even worse) canibus diss "Whats up with that kid Canibus, son played you out, why you didn't answer back correctly, what the fuck was that all about." Even he knew he lost. Of course I am biased. I still think that LL is the least talented rapper to get so many props. Most of his rhymes are Ying Yang twins level of simplicity.

Un-fucking-believable. This nimrod wants money for clothes for the dress code. In this land of sports where you have the 12th man on any roster making what amounts to a first or second year doctor's salary, this request by Mr. Camby is ridiculous. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No its not ridiculous. Not every player in the NBA is getting multimillion dollar contracts. Hell...alot aren't making a million a year. Plus you get taxed 40% when you make close to that amount. So that 1 million dollar a year guy is making around 600k. While living on the road. Not to mention family, yearly expenses and such. Camby is looking out for all of them. So you are asking guys making 100 - 200k per year to go out and get dozens of suits tailored? These ain't regular guys that can go take advantage of the KG 2- 150 deal people. A 7 foot 250lb man cannot buy off the rack. For a tailored suit on a guy of that size you are talking a pretty penny. If the NBA wants to tell these guys that their clothes aren't to be worn anywhere during the season (that is what they are pretty much saying) then they should pony up the bill instead of just saying hey, we pay you alot, so we can decide when large parts of your budget should change to fit our whims. They play SPORTS for a living. this whole dress code thing is just fucking stupid.

    NFL Week Six

Falcons had a bad win this weekend. The secondary looked horrible. No...check that. The SAFETYS looked horrible as they were just picked on all day. The linebackers and corners were the defensive players the showed up. The offense was horrid, but way to go defense for scoring two touchdowns and setting up a third. HORRIBLE call at the end of regulation. it had nothing to do with the kick and the game should have gone into overtime. I know it was indeed against the rules, but jeez, make the call if it becomes important. Let the guys play. Falcons win, but they shouldn't be proud of how it went down.

A better defense, a year of experience, no Quentin Richardson...thats reasons right there. But this is pretty goddamn fucked up. They will still win most nights, just they are without their number one weapon. I expect HUGE numbers from Marion and Kurt Thomas in the beganing of the year to take up the slack. This is just fucked up.

    Tragic News for the Hawks

thats fucked up. Collier, good player or not, was a young well liked guy here. you could alway see him fishing at Lake Lanier. Tough for the family and all. Maybe this will give the team something to play for (not to trivialize his death)

    X-Men Legends II

I have to disagree with the Scarlett Witch being the toughest character thing. Sunfire's sword dealy has to be the most powerful regular attack in the game. It deals with the right leveling, it deals out a good 2000+ everytime. Nightcrawler's Master of Chaos takes down most bosses in a few seconds. Except Archangel who can fly above it.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

That just doesn't matter Mike. Some parents don't care if their kids drink before 21 but that doesn't mean bars and resturants should ignore the law because of the childs parent. If the parent is cool with their child drinking then they have to go and buy it and deal with the consequences. If the parent is going to buy the game for the kid, then the retailer is doing nothing wrong. They just sell it to the parent and that be that. What these laws are basically saying is that "You know those rules that you SHOULD be following anyway. Yeah...follow them". I still haven't seen good argument against this. Bottomline, there are some parents that don't want their children renting/buying games above the rating level for them, and it IS the job of the retailer to sell the merchandise to the audience that it is made for. Porn stores shouldn't be selling porn to 15 year olds. Sure they are going to get it somehow anyway, but so the fuck what. The retailer is only reponsible for their merchandise and whos hands they put it into. Same concept here. If the video game stores are enforcing the game rating system, then these laws change absolutely NOTHING for them.
