When did it ever stop its goal to kill the potentials. It tried to get Andrew to shoot them all, sent in Calab was, once again, not to kill Buffy, but to take out the potentials. Once they found buffy, it got harder, so a bunch of the eyeless wonders couldn't pull it off, so it came with the ubies to try and take out the gals. The point was always to take out the slayer line so their would be no more slayer. And Spike...well... he had a in to buffy. The first time the First tried to kill her, it used Angel, the vampire powerful enough to fight her with the emotional attachment that could give him the upper hand. Same with Spike. OR In a "I know this isn't how the writers intended it to be written but thats how it came out" kinda way, Spikes destiny was always supposed to be for him to die closing that hellmouth. Thats why Buffy could never kill him. Thats why he kept being drawn back to Sunnydale. All the things that happened to him, from being sired by Dru(without whom he never would have come to sunnydale) to the inititive giving him a in with Buffy, to him failing to beat doc who really shouldn't have been that much of a challenge(without buffy's death he never would have seeked out a soul to be good enough for her). The first tried to get to spike as much as possible. To lead him to turn on buffy and get him on its side. Why did it need Spike on its side? Because it knew that he was the key to one of the ways to stop it. Without Spike, Buffy and the SITs lose. They all get the beat down. Spike was the turning point. he was the key to the win. If the First gets him on their side it wins.

Are you saying that Okur, Billups, Wallace, Hamilton, and Williamson aren't proven scorers? Okur, wasn't used last round due to the Pacers using a smaller lineup with out a real center out there with him. he couldn't keep up with the smaller players...*looks at Shaq* not quite the problem here. Big man who can consistantly hit the outside shot....problem. Billups...quick guard that can create his on shot. Had a tough series against the Pacers, mostly because of the pacers QUICKness on D...*looks at Payton*...that could be a problem. Wallace plays well against the Lakers because...well...he doesn't like them. He has consistantly owned Karl Malone once he turned into a scoring threat. (this will probably get doubted just like my Sprewell OWNZ Kobe was doubted for the last series...but hey...) Hamilton- Come on. Williamson - WHO in the mutherfucking hell is going to stop last years sixth man of the year and proven double digit scorer when he gets in the paint against the backups...Slavo? GEORGE???? I didn't even add Prince who is a who knows if he will show up on Offense player, but it wasn't a mistake that the Pistons put up 106 on the Lakers earlier this year. In the spots the Lakers are weak(big men who can hit from perimeter, quick guards) the pistons are strong. I have no idea who is going to win this series, but teh Pistons have the weapons. It all depends on how many Finals jitters are in them.

What the hell is wrong with "You are not Alone"

What the fuck? Darvin Ham? Kobe will score, Rip will score. Shaq will score, Okur (who will be very useful this series) will score. Wallace will score...uh...Shaq will score. Williamson will score...uh...Kobe will score. Billups will score...um...Shaq will score. The pistons have more than a good chance in this finals. Billups>Payton now. And Lindsey Hunter....X-FACTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh boo fucking hoo. It has been proven that confessions are gotten through illicit means sometimes, which have been used to be the sole proof in some cases and now you are saying screw the DNA evidence that says they didn't do it just because you KNOW they did it. If you are going to try and pretend that the Justice system is 100% accurate go right ahead. But when a number of cases are built SOLELY on the DNA evidence at a scene when there is no motive, no witness's, don't come bitching to me when the same evidence is used to try and prove innocence.

you are going to get hell for using the aclu as a source. I can see it now.

TV shows that lost their "place in history"
Ripper replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
I think alot of these shows named aren't and didn't lose their place in history. I mean, really, The COSBY SHOW? MASH? THE SIMPSONS? Nah. Almost everyshow went down hill at some point so you can do that with almost every show. But the ones that were destined for greatness and are now just footnotes in history... The Practice. Its first season was so celebrated that you would think it was going tobe the greatest show of all time. Then...well..then it went on to become one of the more forgettable shows until alot of people would answer "is that show still on?" and didn't even know about the series finally from a few weeks ago. I have to second Aly McBeal...and Boston Public...goddamn David! I would also like to add St. Elsewere. That is a show whose finally took ALOT of edge off of its historical standing. I mean kids today have heard of Mash, and alot of the older shows, but St. Elsewere is pretty much forgotten for a show that would've been historically remembered if not for that ending. -
Just burn everything. Come home say oh my god, my place is burning and act even more shocked when a body is found in the house. "Who the fuck was in my house" should be your answer to them. They will believe you because you said "fuck".

Goddamn marney, bring the ignorance why don't you. They were proven innocent by DNA evidence that wasn't available when they were convicted. A quick search of "death row convictions overturned" will show you many cases. 63 as of Feb. 2000. Oh, and they proably took the cases and changed the black mans DNA to match so they could kill someone because dats whut dem crakas do~! That should give you something for your next post so you won't have to pull it out of the air like last time. edit: Sorry, 85 as of Feb. 2000

There have been numerous cases where people have gotten off death row when they were sentenced to death when it was later proven they didn't do it.

What am I missing from that link...i don't see anything about Jay-z

As a rap record it is about 1000 times better honestly. Alot of casual fans aren't going to like it as much because it isn't as funny and doesn't have as many "I can't believe he just said that" lines. But Good Die Young, How Come, Git up, and Loyalty all pretty much smoke most of the stuff on Devils night.

Tim Duncan? He's the first one that sprang to my mind, but look at the others. Kobe? He didn't really become dominant until his third year in LA. Prior to that, he looked like an unpolished rookie kid with enormous potential. KG? He didn't become truly dominant until year four or five, at which point he developed into one of the best players in the game. MJ went to college for three years. Shaq went for (I believe) two. Duncan, Jordan, and Shaq all made impacts right away -- KG and Kobe didn't start making an impact until their third year or so. By imposing a three-year rule, you cut that waiting period down to half a season or so. Lebron, Carmello and Amare all made contributions in their first year. So what. If you feel a player has the skill to help your team either now or later, and they are out of high school, they should be able too. Carmelo Anthony didn't become lightyears better because of his one year in college, he became more known. That is what college ball is for now basically. If you haven't really had a chance to display your skills, it is a exhibition of them for the NBA. Why should someone thought to be ready have to go and play for FREE, risk injury, that in turn could prevent them from ever making a penny off their talent?
-
Well...6 fucking 3 pointers...thats why. KG being in foul trouble hurt too.
-
that wasn't the First's plan. Its plan was to kill all of the potential slayers, then the slayers, allowing its power to grow and take over the world since it was the role of the slayer to defeat the evil. No slayers, no real evil fighters out there that are a threat. Buffy was all "fuck that" and took the battle to the hellmouth.

... You know what I haven't had in awhile? Big League Chew..

The Lakers bench couldn't hold a candle to the Wolves bench. The problem is, when you take one of those bench players and make them log starter minutes, you are changing the bench production. Fred Hoiberg and Wally Z and Mark Madsen had to play way more minutes to over compesate for hurt players. The Wolves had/have a great bench and their play in game one, two, and five are what kept them in or won the games for them. The lakers got great production from Rush last night, but outside of that, their bench hasn't done a freaking thing. And blah blah blah on the "Lakers won, there isn't anything else to discuss" crap. If Shaq and Kobe break their legs tomorrow and the Lakers get swept in the finals, noone is going to stand by and while others say "See, the Lakers suck. they got swept. Told you Detoit/Indiana would own them." There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to see what the series would have actually been had it been healthy team against heatlhy team. If noone was in here talking like the Lakers have proven that they are the best team in the league because they beat the team with the best record. No, they didn't. They beat a hurt Timberwolves team in a great series. Not taking anything away from them because they won, but calling them the best team because they beat up on a injured team is bullshit. They were, Just as Phil Jackson said after the game, fortunate that they didn't ahve to deal with the minnesota guards in this series because they would have changed the series dramatically. And Vit X yeah, I know last nights game was called too tight on both sides. None of the fouls were WRONG, but they were some of the most ticky tack shit I have ever seen. What I mean is, the Lakers have the stars that aren't gonna get fouled out in a tightly called game while I don't think the pacers or detroit have those benifit of the doubt players that the lakers have.

*walks around randomly kicking posters in this thread in the nuts* Ripper - would rather hear the sound of grownish men moaning at the pain of nut pain that to read anymore of this bitching since 4:00 PM eastern

Thats what a quality player is there for though. Funny. If Kobe had never been in foul trouble then Rush would have never touched the court. Funny how things work out. The thing is...if they call the finals like they called last nights game, there is no way that the Lakers are going to lose. Both Indy and Detroit play agressive D and if they are going to call touchy shit like they did last night, the Pistons and Pacers will be in HORRIBLE shape while the Lakers would just be in bad shape. I pray to god we get to see BASKETBALL in the finals and not a freethrow contest like last night.

The beast was just setting the stage for Jasmine. he wasn't destroying the earth. he was just making all the signs come to pass for Jasmine to be born. The beast was Jasmines bitch, and knew its role. Jasmine needed the world to exist to survive. And with the Mayor, they used Apocolypse alot. But with the Mayor, just like Anya said, would basically devourer the whole town of sunnydale just like it did that other town she was in when the last accentsion took place. Sunnydale disappearing doesn't count as a apocolypse.

Stacy is 38 or 37...one of the two. I know she was born in 1966...just not sure what month.
-
Yet the best players didn't play college ball or only a year.
-
Because generally speaking, they aren't. They get drafted early for their future potential, then shoved out on the courts early for marketing reasons and the quality of games suffered. Usually it takes 2 to 3 years for them to be playing at the level where they should be. Lebron is an exception because he could actually play out of gates. Most aren't like that. And in the NFL, especially where you have guys like Ray Lewis just waiting to beat up on somebody like Clarett, it is a terrible idea. It isn't just limited to HS players either. There is no way Eli Manning should be starting right away either. Too many people get playing time because of who they are, rather than how good they are at this particular time. Play them when they are ready to play. Not before. Teams are too stupid to manage themselves, because with a few exceptions they care more about selling tickets than winning. College players coming in need 2-3 years of experience to get good in the pros. NFL...I understand. Guys need more physical development to not end up cripples. But seriously, you can't make the same argument for other sports like Basketball, or Baseball. If you have the ability you have the ability.

Turn the woman upside down?

No, the apocolypse thing was never there. It was more along the lines of if he performs enough deeds to redeem himself. then it was discovered that he would play a big role in this apocolypse. I guess he kinda figured that being the deciding factor in saving the world wasn't enough, then nothing would be. And if you really think of it, Angel never really helped stop a apocolypse unless you count season 1 of Buffy. Besides that, he almost caused one (season 2) the Mayor wasn't really a apocolypse...just saved Sunnydale then, and stopped Jasmine who was going to bring world peace. Killing the Black Thorn, who were teh instruments required for the SP to get their apocolypse was his only apocolypse stoppage...or he started one by pissing them off...one of the two.
