31 on the ACT to the shock of everyone in the school but me. I told them I COULD have better grades, I just didn't WANT to do it and hanging out across the street at Troy State was more fun with hotter women.

Yes, the progressive elements meaing the betterment of black people, but unless I am confused, Malcom belived that integration was not to way to do it and that blacks and whites should stay separate. Guess my lazy ass could go and research instead of trying to go off my shakey memory of the philosophies of historical figures.... *sighs*

I might be confused, but I thought Malcom X was still a segregationist till his death. I can't really have ever seen him working with King, seeing as they were on opposite sides of the battle.

Good. It should be left to the popullation of the states. If gays in Georgia want a government recognized union, they'll move to Vermont. That's the price of the game. Do you not see how ignorant that comment is. Maybe blacks shouldn't have been upset aboout the segregation in the south and just moved to where there wasn't segregation and let it stay law in the southern states. MAYBE women in some states should be able to vote but if that woman happened to be born in a state where it wasn't allowed, she never should have been allowed to decide on the issues in the country. Hey, may discrimination against immigrants should have been cool too, and if they didn't like being treated like slaves, they should leave. That is the dumbest crock of shit I have heard in a while. If "the game" is making the United States a place where everyone can recieve equality....as long as you agree with our religious beliefs...then yeah...that is the cost of it. -

So, because you say it, it is so? Why is it hard to believe that he genuinely thinks like I and over 60% of Americans think? I have nothing against making a benefit for gay people to form a union (and allow it up to the states to recognize it). It would be up to the gay people to live in a state that recognized them as a union. "Marriage" truly will open up a whole new can of worms if it is tinkered with, it's a very slippery slope and I'm not prepared to completely abandon the idea of the traditional American family just yet... K..kinda why I added that little part about how in Georgia(and most states in the bible belt) would never be able to get the civil unions passed. Your 60% number is cute and all but to many, there is no grey area here. To many, they want homosexuality to stay taboo, and will fight for it to stay that way...and one of them happens to be the President. -

That's because you aren't gay. For gay people, it is an extremist attack, because it's placing limits on the whole "pursuit of happiness" thing that this country is supposed to be about. Tee-Hee-Hee.... -

The state of Georgia wouldn't pass a law that allowed civil unions to be recognize and numerous polls on it show a overwhelming majority of the people in the state don't think they should be. Lets not get this confused, this has nothing to do saving marrige and making it pure or what the fuck ever people are arguing. Bush and others thing being gay is wrong and doing anything that recognizes that there MAY be an alternative way of thinking about it would be seen as supporting homosexuality. Civil Unions with the same benifits still would never be allowed just as gay marrige. Which is funny seeing as there no real reason it shouldn't be legal now. Seriously, the laws make as much since as if two people wanted to get married and the state said no because they thought the woman was too good looking for the guy. Or the guy was too tall for the woman. -

Or maybe, just maybe, he is looking at the situation differently. This is being discussed on another board I frequent, and there is an argument there that is going to cause problems. Let's say gay marriage becomes legal. Let's say that the courts say that gay couples get all of the benefits if hetero couples. How could you then justify forbidding adult family members from marrying? Is there any legal justification for banning incest, outside of the obvious moral problems? Birth defects wouldn't hold up in court (we won't legalize eugenics and that is what that basically arguing --- and not all marriages even result in children, so the point is necessarily moot) --- so how could you justify forbidding it, outside of the obvious "wrong" nature of it? How about polygamy? If two people in love can get married, why can't three? What legal justification? Marriage is getting redefined if this passes and actually defining it is going to become nigh impossible. If you doubt that these issues won't be brought up and dressed up in the same language as this issue, you're naive. When smoking became basically illegal, many argued that other "vices" will be targeted --- and we've seen the first fast food lawsuits being filed in the last year or two. I have no doubt that there is a definite group of gays who legitimately want marriage and legitimately want the symbolism of the act. I honestly feel for them. I personally do not care who gets married. I ALSO have no doubt that there is an undercurrent of people who are USING the gay community to try and bring about the end of the entire institution of marriage. They view marriage as wrong and an evil against women and want to see it completely abolished and this is simply step one in the plan. The same thing was said when prohibition was lifted. It would lead to the legalization of all types of illegal drugs, yet here we are over a quarter of a century later, and that hasn't happened yet. And I have said it once and will again, putting homosexuality and incest in the same catagory is just plain ignorant and irresponsible, although I do see the point you are attempting to raise, it still seems like it parallels them. And man...its been a while since I've seen a good Feminist Conspiricy Theory....thanks! -

There used to be laws in the South saying that blacks and whites couldn't get married, and a overwhelming majority of people(both black and white) agreed with it. Does that mean its alright? If they tried to bring back this law today and tried to impliment it in the constitution, would it be okay also? The major point that I have against this whole thing is that on one hand, Bush has shown that he wants the government even more involved in the stressing of the importance of marrige in America through more benifits for married couples, while at the same time trying prevent the same privilidge to others. How anyone can even slightly agree with blatant discrimination where the only points raised for the admendment have been solely religious based(something that I could SWEAR was supposed to be separated from the government). How two people in love and wanting to get the same benifits allocated to other Americans in the exact same situtation will tear down society is beyound me. But hey, women being allowed to vote, and minorities being integrated with whites were suppose to tear down society too, right? -
Don't see it. I really don't. "Jungle Fever" Was a heapin' helping of OK. "Do the Right Thing" was the same. I'd give it a B- if I was to give a grade. "He Got Game" was bad. Just plain ol' bad. "Clockers", honestly, is one of my least favorite movies of all time. And I usually like John Turturro, but that film was just painful to watch. "Summer of Sam" was OK at best. Again, nothing special. "X" was bad. That film showed how much an editor is needed. -=Mike "Jungle Fever": Had 2 stories that Lee attempted to tie together but did so horribly. The story of "Gator" and his drug addiction was the interesting part while i couldn't have given less of a shit about Snipe's character. "Do the Right Thing" - Good film. "He Got Game" - Ray Allen cannot act to save his life. Putting him on screen for the entire film killed the great performance by Washington and basically everyone else in the movie dead from the begainging. Get a better actor and this is a good film. "Clockers"- I can't put my hate for this film in any type of context. "Summer of Sam" - Lee did his best job of building characters in this film...only the movie went NOWHERE. It was 2+ hours of nothing. There was no point. It was just a pointless film. Not bad...not good...just...there. "X" - Did an incredible job on this film. I don't know where your gripes are on this one Mike, but I can't see much chopping you could do off this film. Its not ridiculously overly long like, say, Scarface or Meet Joe Black, where it looks like they just didn't hire editors, it was just as long as necessary. "She's Gotta Have It" - Indie film buffs love it. I found it to be another pointless plodding movie with no point...much like Summer of Sam. "Bamboozled" - If he was serious about this film, then I hated it. If it was suppose to be a parody of a Spike Lee film (all the white characters are either blatantly racist, or unintentially racist, all of the women or either weak or slept their way to the top, and all the black people are just waiting for thier chance to sell out) then I think it was incredible. I don't think he was going for parody though. "Girl Six" - Um...how about that soundtrack by Prince...that kicked ass....yeah...that...thats about it. thats all I got time for now...but just to summerize...I don't really like Spike Lee, but Malcom X was a damn good film...and I don't particuarly care for Malcom X either.

The Training Day win was a payback for him Russell Crowe winning for Gladiator when anyone with taste knew that Denzels performance in Hurricane trumped it. I still think that Ewan Mcgregor(sp?) in Moulin Rouge was the man who got robbed that year.

I just have a job where i actually have to work now instead of being online all day. fucking assholes thinking they can tell me to do what they pay me for. *shakes fist*

First of all, while it isn't exactly true that white women are easier than black women when you are a athelete, i have met plenty of athletes that believe this to be true, so Spike MIGHT have been just presenting the opinion of some people thorough Rick fox's character (as a matter of fact, he made a point to include all women of different colors in the drug dealers diatribe about how women will come after Jesus for money). Now that isn't to say that Spike Lee is a racist mysogynist, that just isn't the best example. Spike Lee is incredible at camera work and directing, he just sucks as a writer. Well, thats my opinon on the thing.

Anyone that calls Marbury a hog hasn't watched him play in the past two years. If I'm not mistaken, he is number 2 in the league in assist and led this team. At times he would put them on his back and carry them. They traded away their best player without the possiblity to get anything in return for it. WHERE are they going to get a better point guard that him. Ever. They had him for the next 5 years. They had a core of Stodimire, Marbury, and Marion(who signed a extension) with Penny being a incredibly smart veteren that helped the team greatly. now they have no point guard worth shit, another Power forward to go with Stodimire, and a bunch of draft picks in what is going to be a weak draft. This year might have been a bust(and I don't think it was, they were what, 8=9 games out in the begaining of the season...that can be made up) but they just fucked the franchise for the next few YEARS with this move.

Well put Bruiser...I have nothing to add. *shoots everybody because I am black and thats what we do apparently*

The KNICKS make off like bandits????? WHAT IN THE FUCKING HELL IS WRONG WITH THE COLANGELOS. For all of you who have not been noticing, when given the minutes, Hardaway has been putting up 18-20 points a game this year, he is in the best shape he has been in 5 years and is anything BUT broken down. Stephon A: Loved being in Phoenix B: Just signed his long term deal there and wanted to be there a long time. C: Was their number one scorer, assist man and arguabley the second best point guard in basketball. The FUCKING SUns, who have a 20 year old power forward to be the future of the franchise trade for a FUCKING POWER FORWARD. One who hasn't played in 3 years. They trade their two best guards for Howard Eisley and CHARLIE FUCKING WARD. The Suns, who are struggling for offense just traded away about 35 points a game, about 14 assist, and their best 3 point shooters. FUCK the Colangelos. I have watched them DESTROY team after team for these 16 years I have been a suns fan, rather it be watching steve Nash and Michael Finley in Dallas, Jason Kidd in Jersey, or them trading bo Outlaw, Dan Marlie, Rodney Rogers, Tony Delk, Cliff Robinson or various other good players to teams and making then title contenders. I guess they wanted to give Joe Johnson The ability to not worry about Penny outplaying his sorry ass every night and getting the hook. Maybe they think it will get his confidence up. Well guess what, your "future" at the 2 guard has gotten progressively WORSE as the years have gone on . HE SUCKS. ANd now you are putting the team on this fuckers back for you back court... Fuck the COLANGELOS. I will still cheer for the suns but they are really, REALLY pissing me off.

Kevin Johnson I saw him play for Cleveland his rookie year and followed him after they traded him to the Suns. I have been a Suns fan ever since, and patterned my whole B-ball game after what KJ did.

Well, actually he got cut in half. The little boy he was carrying was beheaded and the little girl also got cut in half. Goddamn that was messed up.

on the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I don't fucking care. How is that more important than someone attempting to kill Joe Blow. So Hinckley aimed higher than your usual person, a humans life is a humans life. Now I'm not saying set the guy free, but in accordance to how others are treated for the SAME crime (attempted murder) he should have been out already.
