NBA 2008 - the home stretch

Why is Manu not a sixth man? He started more than a 3rd of the games he played this year. How can you be a sixth man when you are starting? JR Smith, Josh Childress, Lou Williams, Kyle Korver are guys that are ACTUALLY non starters that contribute to the team. if you start 23 out of the 73 games you play, and get in within 2-3 minutes of most of those 50 you didn't start, you on the bench is nothing more than a gimmick. Its diminishing what true bench players are doing. Coming in relatively cold night in and night out and contributing to the team consistantly. Not trying to diminish Manu at all. I think he is clearly the second best 2 guard in the game, but he is no 6th Man.

You are comparing the lives of thousands to the lives of Millions that you would sacrifice through your stupid ideas. Nothing on your "test" would determine if someone can be a good parent or not. you would deny the lives of millions of kids. We lose HOW many to execution and war? A couple of dozen a year? And just because a couple of guys saw something and said "SEE!!! THERE IS NO FREE WILL" doesn't make it fact. And the decision making process was carried out before the decision was made....REALLY??????!?!????

The cops shot a wild cougar.

They obviously were chasing it to shoot it in the first place. What else were they going to do when they caught it? Pull a Irwin? Because I just don't by them wrestling with it and saying "look at this beauty". They were all just looking for the opportunity to say they shot a cougar. Fucking assholes.

The cops shot a wild cougar.

You could tranquilizer the thing. ... Did that guy say shout out? ... Anyway, pretty fucked up if you ask me. Poor thing.
  5. OH, wait. You are talking about the remake. From your first post, I thought you meant the original, which was pretty predictable and cliche, but was awesome. You were talking about the obviously crappy remake.
  6. It was a slasher flick. Of course it was predictible and cliche.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

You aren't going to beat first round Pistons. Maybe in the second round you might catch them getting bored, but not in the first round. Philly had a strong year but: A: Andre Miller isn't going to be able to big boy the point guards in this game like he has been doing in the Sixers run. B: Samuel Dalembert still fouls to much when a good big man is on him and he hates leaving the paint....he is going to have a good big man and a guy that can hit the three. Just ain't gonna happen. Orlando should kick the shit out of Toronto. 4-5 games honestly. Cleveland/Washington...Depends on how hurt Stevenson is. And how hurt Lebron is. And how much they try to shove gilbert Arenas back to the forefront when it should be the Jamison/Butler show. Washington SHOULD be able to win this series, but it depends on a lot of things. Celtics in 5-6. I think they will catch a cocky team for at least one game, then just straight up beat them in another. But I think their defensive abilities are going to be too much, although Al Horford and Josh Smith going nuts on them in the last gave me all kinds of hope. I was especially happy they didnt' move up to play the Pistons or Orlando. Even though I think they could have won those series, they would have been on NBA TV. I need Josh Smith to get some national TV coverage.

I just imagined that entire dinner scene in my head. It was pretty racist, but funny at the same time.
  10. They have already declined. Movies like 28 months later have already been shelved after the massive failures of some of the R Rated Horrors. So expect to see more PG-13 "horror" movies like that bastardized remake of Prom Night. I am totally expecting it to end with them finding all the kids he 'kills" in the movie alive, tied up in a closet and they still go and have prom afterwards.

A: Matt Youngs voice is way too deep. Its disturbing. B: I still haven't played COD4 online yet. I have yet to touch the multiplayer and I have had it for quite a while. I just have no intrest in playing people that take it way to seriously and are going to start talking shit. I don't have time for that shit.

FFNY fucking ruled. The first one was better wrestling wise, but the second one was a fucking awesome game with kinda the same mechanics. The ICON game was horrible. And I only played the demo...that was enough.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

How about a few award guesses/opinions here? MVP - Opinion - Chris Paul Guess: Kobe Bryant I really can't be upset with Kobe winning it though. But I think Chris Paul's season was just amazing and that he is the MVP, at the same time I don't think there is clear cut MVP winner. So I prefer Paul, but if Kobe wins, thats okay too. Defensive Player of the Year - Opinion - Josh Smith Guess: Kevin Garnett Josh Smith is a one man wrecking crew on D. He is top 15 in steals, number 2 in blocks, and often times has to play guards at the end of the game defensively for stops and does a great job on bigs. But realistically, Kevin Garnett is going to win it. Now the fact that Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, James Posey, Kedrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo are all playing out of their minds defensively is the real reason that Boston has the best defensive team, but I guess you have to admit that it is probably Garnett that is the reason behind that because of his passion and his motivation to them. I am a little tired of Josh Smith not being in anyones top 3-5 with the writers though. Hopefully he gives me one of those 20 point, 6 block, 11 rebound, 4 steal, 7 assist games in the playoffs and has his coming out party and people take notice next year. Rookie of the Year - Opinion - Al Horford Guess: Kevin Durant I honestly don't think anyone can make a realistic argument for Durant here besides the fact that he is Kevin durant. Yes, he is averaging twice as many points as Horford(while shooting more than twice as much) but that is the only stat he outdoes Horford. Horford is more efficient offensive player, and better defender(I won't list things like rebounder because Horford is supposed to be a better rebounder). Scoring wise, Horford has a teammates averaging 21, 18, 15, 14, and 13 points per game on his team so yes, he is going to average less points. The next closest guy to Durant is a 15 point per gamer and after that you drop below double digits. He gets alot of shots, scores more points...impressive. But I think Horford has clearly been the better player. Coach of the Year - Opinion - Rick Adleman Guess: Byron Scott Yeah, Byron will win, but Rick deserves some love for that win streak even though they lost Yao and Landry and were in the running for best record in the West until yesterday. that is impressive. Most Improved Player: Opinion - Mike Dunlevey Guess: Hedo Turk"i am not going to spell his name correctly" alu Here is something that should automatically win Mike the award. He is no longer a bad contract in my eyes. People keep calling it a bad contract because they haven't paid the Pacers any attention, but he played to his contract this year. that alone should garner him the award. Don't get me wrong, Hedy Turkoglu has had a impressive season and all, but at the same time, he is playing almost 7 more minutes a game this year. His jump in stats from last year can be at least in a small part be attributed to that. Mike has jumped his numbers almost the same amount while playing the same minutes. So bascically Turk has better numbers because he has more minutes/better coach. I personally think the Pacers moved pretty laterally coaching wise. Sixth Man of the Year: Opinon: Louis Williams or Josh Childress Guess: Manu Ginobli I just don't consider Manu a 6th man. he is a starter that happens to not play for the first 3 minutes of the game. Lou and Chill are both true 6th men in the NBA. I have a hard time deciding which one though. I am leaning towards Lou because he really has been the difference maker in the Sixers unexpected run in the playoffs. Chill, I guess I see him more, but he really is a extremely solid player. I think I will go with Lou on this one though. JR Smith deserves some love but I refuse to vote for that fucker on anything. ALL NBA TEAMS 1st team: G: Chris Paul G: Kobe Bryant F: Lebron James F: Kevin Garnett C: Dwight Howard 2nd Team G: Steve Nash G: Manu Ginobli F: Paul Pierce F: Amare Stoudimire C: Tim Duncan 3rd Team G: Baron Davis G: Allen Iverson F: Tracy McGrady F: Antwain Jamison C: Rasheed Wallace All defensive team: G: Chris Paul G: Rajon Rondo F: Josh Smith F: Kevin Garnett C: Marcus Camby

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

You know, if the Nuggets were to convince Carmelo to be a little less "superstarish" they would be a incredible team. Iverson is clearly their best player by a long way, but Carmelo is one of the heat killingist players I have ever seen. He simply needs his shots, hot player be damned, while Iverson not shooting the ball for a quarter to get the ball to a hot guy is not something that would shock anyone. Between him and that asshole JR Smith who will either win you a game or get a T with the game time with .1 seconds left, they just aren't going to get it done. That and they don't believe in actually playing anything resembling any kind of defense.

8 teens arrested in beating of girl

Aren't we talking about a bunch of GIRLS? Are you saying girls becoming too girly for you? Not the girls themselves. The reaction. The SHOCK and OUTRAGE is the pussification of society. Are you fucking kidding me? some kid gets beaten up and not hurt badly at all and its the most shocking thing in the history of ever and we need to examine why kids want to act out like this and its obviously the internet and youtubes fault. If they killed the girl, then fine, outrage away, but seriously, kids are getting shot in school. Why the fuck all the outrage over some chick getting beat up? 15 years ago, they would have gotten juvie and you never would have heard of this. Now, its the "we need a excuse" society and a bunch of whiney pussies so this is horrid!!! She has a swollen face for gods sake!!! Nothing has EVER been as violent...EVER!!

You know, Wresetle Mania XIX actually grew on me. Murdering alot of wrestlers and construction workers and cops was fun. Especially with your CAWs. I made a Neo one and it was like playing a decent Matrix game. Then I made a Hulk CAW and maxed out his strength and beat the shit out of everyone. Plus, choke Slamming people through steel grates 40 feet below and then hitting a 60 foot frog splash....awesome.

    Parents fight over gang ties...

If everyone takes the exam at 18, what about the people that have kids before 18? Are they exempt or something? And not to point out the already obvious, you can be dumb as a brick and be a great parent, at the same time you can be a rich genius that happens to like to touch kids. I think any test that says smart kid toucher can have kids but dumb, good parent can't is wrong.

    Parents fight over gang ties...

Yeah, I still haven't seen anyone actually suggest how this is supposed to work. To get a driver licenses you have to pass a test. What test do you give out for parenting. And the thing I hate about threads like this. The reason this is news is because it is very uncommon and strange. You don't point to something that is completely not the norm and say "See, this is another reason we should institute a ridiculous plan for EVERYONE in the country, because there are stupid people in this town in Colorado." I would see if this was a everyday occurance.
  21. I liked that movie, but I always hated that I was the only one of my friends that got he had come back in time ALOT of times.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

1: With the Knicks you are once again citing pace and not defense. Defense is stopping someone. Pace is just not shooting the ball so that the other team can't shoot the ball. The Knicks made the finals TWICE by just slowing the game down to disgusting levels (and a horrible 4 point play). 2: Golden State is not a good offensive team. Once again, scoring alot of points doesn't make you a good offensive team. If you are just a jump shooting and fast break team, that is once aspect of offense that can be taken away. A good offensive team is one that can go to something else when you take away one thing. A team with multiple dimisions. 3. The suns got worse defensively in trading Marion. He is probably the best defensive player in the NBA. They traded for Shaq to have a big body in there and save Amare and to have someone in the half court offense because just pick and rolling with Amare wasn't getting it done. With the addition of Shaq, they added just another aspect to their offense to be able to win. 4: The BULLS? They got rid of a bunch of defensive bigs and got a bunch of shooters to surround Jordan and pippen in the triangle when they got over the hump. the bulls problem was that their team was built around scoring at the rim and the Pistons would beat the ever loving shit out of you if you came in the lane. So they got shooters. And started putting one of the best defensive players ever on point guards. They did get better defensively in the regular season, but come playoff time, the ability for them to spread the floor is what changed. Now the 72 win team...thats different. that was a disgustingly good at every aspect of the team guys, but the first couple of championships? They were averaging nearly 106-110 points a game and giving up 99-101 points per game. The same kind of stats that make people call phoenix horrible defensively these last few years. I don't see how saying that because a team isn't BAD defensively that means that defense wins championships.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

Thats kinda mixed right there. If you are saying defense wins championships you are suggesting that a championship team is there because of their defense. Which isn't true. I can name plenty of great defensive teams that got sent packing because they couldn't score. You don't have to be a bad defensive team to back up my point. You just needed to win and not because of your defense. In the NBA offense wins championships, plain and simple. Good defense is not the cornerstone of winning a championship. average defense and a multifaceted offense is the key. And the 95 rockets would count as a team that wasn't that good defensively. Nither was the Miami Heat that year. THe 01 Lakers. All of them were pretty average defensive team.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

The Suns were one of the better defensive teams in the league last year and the year before(definately 10, though I would argue top 5-6). this year, they were horrible for much of the season, and the first year in the Nash era, they were also horrible. Now they are average. But honestly, if you want to argue the defense if everything case, the suns having two WCF's and a second round appearance doesn't actually help that case if you want to maintain they are bad defensively. One way or the other on that one.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

So how come MVP Nash, and two All-NBA talents haven't won a championship yet? You'd think having 3 top 15 players would be enough. The suns were one diminsional. They couldn't play a half court offense. becaues Amare Stoudimire has no back to the basket game. He is a good face up shooter, and could run the pick and roll all day, but that was about the end of their offensive scheme. if you didn't double the screen and roll, then they could be beat. And its not like the teams that have beaten then (the Spurs and the mavs) didn't have some great players of their own. The Suns lost to a better spurs team, then they were missing Amare and Raja against the Mavs and then lost to a evenly matched Spurs team where someone had to lose (I will not point out the other stuff...just say that they lost). Its not like they have just been getting stomped on. And just to repeat what King just said, I could give a crap about stats or what analyst say, I have watched Denver play quite a bit and yes, they are horrible defensively. Jaw droppingly bad.
