really? REALLLY??? I was watching the news this one time and I saw this guy talking about he would fight to make it an amendment that gays cannot be married, despite their marrige not effecting the straight community what so ever. What was his name again... Come on Mike, lets not act like there are plenty of straight people that somehow believe that what goes on between two people is their business because it goes against their beliefs. Shit people were pissed when the supreme court said homosexuals having sex isn't a crime. THEY GOT PISSED OFF. ELECTED OFFICIALS. The had no worries about stepping on television and saying that the court was wrong for saying two consenting adults could have sex, and didn't have to worry about backlash. Its a warm and cozy belief that people have a live and let live type of mindframe but we both know it isn't so.

But free speech is not contingent on people feeling good about what is being said. If the president is giving a speech and I disagree, they aren't violating my free speech if I am not allowed to step up on stage behind him and voice my opinion. That is basically what this girl wanted. The program was designed for people to talk about diversifing, and she wanted to give a speech, at this event, to the student body saying that homosexuality was wrong(at the very least thats what she wanted to say). She could sit on her ass all day and say it. Say it to her friends, hell, she could have stopped people in the hallways and shared her beliefs. She still had her freedom of speech. But if the organizers chose not to let her get on stage and ruin it, they don't have to. You can be a sexist but that doesn't mean a womens rights group have to let you give a rebuttal at one of their meetings. You don't have to let a KKK grand wizard speak at a Black History Month program. And not allowing them during YOUR program doesn't mean you are taking away their free speech.

I wish we could, but no one has stood up to the plate...and hasn't stepped up to realistically challenge the nomination of a sitting pres since LBJ (who was so embarassed that he decided not to run). Okay, first, thats just plain cheap. Even suggest that Bush got into this thing in Iraq to make himself look like a better president and hide the fact they were failing horribly in finding Bin Ladin(which I don't believe mind you) and Republicans treat it like blasphemy. But with Clinton, its cool he couldn't have been handling the situation while trying not to put the lives of American soldiers at risk. Of course, if he had sent in soldiers, the same republicans blaming him for doing nothing now would have siad he was doing it to take away bad press. What ever. And once again, the economy is NOT doing well. Its growth is NOT solid. There are less NEW layoffs and unemployment claims. Yay. Of course, new jobs have not risen, the unemployment rate is still the same. Less people are losing jobs than before and people are screaming that the economy is booming. It is looking like it might stabilize soon. We are still in a bad economy. And I still think there is no way in hell Bush is losing the election...even though I think his administration has done a horrible job.

I just get the feeling that this entire story had more to it. First of all, I doubt that Diversity Week was all about homosexuality, and seeing as the article called it a program "designed to promote the homosexual agenda" (what the fuck is the Homosexual agenda anyway?) and the website if from the people that filed the lawsuit, I take the enitire thing with a BIGASS grain of salt. Just another group of people that are saying telling kids its okay to be gay is evil and will lead to the fall of man. This was a week designed to bring together people, the last thing they needed was someone only there to tear it apart.

BUT they did title the article "RASHEED WALLACE SAYS NBA TAKES ADVANTAGE OF BLACK ATHLETES" and the white establishment part. They just left out the exact quotes and replaced them with kinder and gentler ones.

I don't see how them having basically the same year (like they are doing right now...except Tmac averages more points and Kobe shoots a slightly better percentage) is suppose to sway peoples opinions one way or the other. Hell, If I were the Lakers I would Trade Kobe "Might be in prison, and even if I don't will probably go to another team in a another city that is ripe with women for me to rape....allegedly" Bryant for T-mac. If Orlando would take the deal(and they probably would).

The only way I would be like "fuck her" is if the family didn't recieve a suitable amount of money after his death. I mean, he DID die while on their clock. If she got millions on that then fuck her, otherwise, she should try to get some money.

You haven't been looking hard. The owners get on TV talking about how they have to drive up ticket prices because the players contracts are getting ridiculous...all the while THEIR profits are climbing more and more. There are tons of rules limiting how much they can pay a player, and they are constantly pushing to lower it. the NBA is just as bad between the owners and players as baseball...well...not just as bad, but close.

I haven't even seen where it he said black players. He said "the NBA exploits its players". Hey, he might have said it and they just didn't quote it, but it looks like words being placed in his mouth. And since his is open all the time, its probably pretty easy to put them there.

Jamal Crawford is quality at the point. They could sign Anthony whats his face that the Spurs just cut as a back up though. And they do need a quality swing man. I say send someone to the Hawks for Lee Nailon who is buried on the bench. The guy played great when he had good minutes in New Orleans while Mash was down. OR they could find where Demarr Johnson is and sign him. He performed well in the summer leagues and in the training camps.
