    Sporting fan triumphs

So you did get to see a championship win, right? Let me ask this then, how do you think it would have been if the Braves won that WS and then dropped in the basement never to be heard of again? Would it have been seen as a triumphant closing to a team that finally won it after two failed tries? Would it have been better if it had stopped there than going on to two more WS and losing those? Not to get on you, but it seems like Braves fans let everything that have happened since the WS win erase the memory that, yes, you did win a championship Yeah, they won a champion ship, true. But 12 straight division titles and continually losing to lesser teams, that will knaw at you. Don't get me wrong, I was happy when they won the series, and I am not close to the fake ass fair weather Braves fans (the ones that cheer them when they are winning and say "I knew they would blow it" when they lose), but bottomline, that was 8 years ago they won the championship, and there SHOULD have been at least one more since then.

    Ashton + Demi Moore

That shouldn't be so hard -- just pour water on the flamer, put out the fire, and he'll be yours... I actually heard they tried that at the wedding reception when she married Chris Judd...obviously it didn't work.

Lets put it like this. I am a Suns fan in the NBA, a Bills fan in the NFL and a Braves fan in MLB. So basically...I have had precious little to cheer about.

    Ashton + Demi Moore

Sad But True! Why do people even care about J'Lo/Ben anyway, it's obvious that the bitch is just after attention. Everyone should know that after that time she morphed into Ben Affleck, and somehow asked her other hologram self to get married so that people would think Ben actually did it. Then she possessed Ben the next time and got him to call off the wedding...just for more attention. Almost beat that time she used a voodoo doll to make Puffy cheat on her so that she could get sympathy. Whats she gonna do next? Marry a flaming gay guy and not be able to make that marrige work? ... wait...

    The Matrix explained?

And? The movie isn't called The Merovingian: Reloaded. It's the Matrix with Neo seconded by Trinity and Morpheus. Maybe you're not familiar with the concept of fiction writing but most secondary characters are supposed to be flat, static, and 1 dimensional. And I'm sorry you didn't get the Architect scene, but he nailed his heelishness. His demeanor was harsh and cold, firm and unfeeling, like a machine. His dialogue was that of a condescending, piece-of-shit know-it-all. Maybe you couldn't stay with the big words, but that scene was not only major, it was very well done. The Architects delivery of that line about how they have become "exceedingly good" at destroying Zion was definatly heelish enough for me. And it was totally set up through his use of overly complicated words. As seen in the beganing of the scene when he said "You're quicker than the others", the entire point of him talking like that was to confuse Neo and talk down to him. It really wasn't that hard to follow if you really listen to him, which, because of how he spoke you were required to do. That was the most important scene in the film to date, honestly, and using that type of dialect forced the viewer to not only listen to every single word that the he said, but to think about what he was saying.
  8. GODDAMN YOU COLANGELOS AND YOUR BLIND LOVE FOR JOE JOHNSON. DAMMITT. WHY let go a big, athletic, young 2 guard/sf with talent when a: Penny is aging B: Joe Johnson SUCKS and C: Casey Jacobsen, while a great shooter will not be the scorer that creates his own shots and creates for the team. Joe Johnson has been in Phoenix 3 FUCKING years now and has done absolutly NOTHING to warrent the love the management shows for the guy. Here is Demarr Johnson who has been great in the preseason with precious few minutes, and they let him go. LET HIM GO!!!! GODDAMMITT I hate anything named Colangelo.

    Celts: Twan Gone

Battie is solid, but seeing as Lafrentz is a better shot blocker and scorer than him, I see Lafrentz starting. Baker, who has been strong lately, will probably play at the starting PF spot. In the end, I think this trade was really meant to put Vin back in the starting line-up. And if anyone ever saw Danny Ainge call a game that Baker was playing in, you could hear how much he liked the guy, he was just really frustrated with his problems. I think this is all to give Baker a chance. Worse come to worse, Battie will be back, but I see Baker Lafrentz being the starting front court. But Jumaine Jones will definately be at the SF and is DEFINATELY a upgrade. Never could figure out why Eric Williams was there. He and Michael Curry starting on NBA teams always has baffled me.

    NBA Live 2004

Can't forget the sig. moves -- loved how Tom Chambers' move was unstoppable. In addition, whenever you played against the Bulls, the AI made sure Jordan only touched the ball once or twice during the entire game. Love that realism... Larry Nances 360, double clutch, windmill, this is the most impossible dunk EVER, move was the shit. And Brad Daughtery...if you STEPED pass the 3 point line and hit shoot he would travel to the bucket and dunk...good times.

  17. What I always find to be bullshit about these list is that characters that are never seen without another character(say Nidia and Noble when are they not on screen together?) have completely different numbers. How often has Gail Kim been on screen without Trish Stratus being there?

    Celts: Twan Gone

They have similar stats. Yet from these similar stats, Gilbert Arenas is called the greatest young player in the league while Antione is called a detrement to his team. And Antiones team has done more with less than Gilberts team did. My point is the NBA makes stars out of who they want when they want. A player with almost the same stats is called "talented, but overall a bad player" while another is praised. Like that year everyone was screaming about Iverson shooting too much and having a HORRIBLE shooting percentage, but were praising Jordan in Washington despite him shooting a lesser field goal percentage, AND the team was losing. I just find stuff like that annoying.
  20. I don't know why, but I find this very funny. Could it be that they are blatantly lieing that makes it so hilarious. Or did I imagine the "RVD will never make it in the WWF" articles. *RVD signs with the WWF* "RVD will never be over in the WWF because of his style" *RVD becomes most over wrestler in promotion* "Um...Bret Hart is coming back!!!!"

Thanks for the bump there Boo. This is quite possibly the most fucked up thread ever to grace this board.

    Celts: Twan Gone

You know what I find funny though. Antoine Walker Averaged 20 points a game, shot 38 percent from the field, 32 from 3, averaged 6 rebounds and 5 assist. He is univerally shit on by the press as a blah player that Boston should get rid of. Gilbert Arenas averages 18 points a game, shoots 4 more percentage points more than Walker from the filed, shoots 2 more percentage points from the 3, averages 1-2 more assist from the point guard position and 2 less rebounds, yet he is the savior of the Wizards and they should be a playoff team now. Funny.

NPR Ombudsman still getting flak from OReilly bit

Heh...thats funny. Most people I know hate Bill with a passion due to him not being able to go 5 minutes without proving himself to be a total hypocrite, and for him to have the audacity to say someone tried to bully HIM on a interview and it was unfair and unprofessional is laughable.

Antoine is much more of a ball handler and playmaker than he is given credit for. If I'm not confused, I believe that he led the Celts in assist last year. He is a solid playmaker, more of a point forward. And as much as people hate to admit it, who else was going to shoot the ball besides Pierce and Walker. When he DOES step in side, he is a physcial force at the PF position and can score well on the post and he is a good rebounder. If he gets forced into his role, he will produce. I don't see him complaining about touches. He didn't do it when the team went to PP as the primary option, requiring him to step aside for him, and I don't see him doing it here. Adding Delk was huge, although he is another black hole when on the floor and if he is passing, its because he is about to cut to get it back. If anything, there are only 3 solid defenders on the Mavs team now (Jamison, Finley and Fortson). Jamison is a INCREDIBLE offensive rebounder, so he will help there, and Fortson rebounding is his sole purpose in life. Jamison and Walker are both good on the post, so they will be a interesting team. I wouldn't call him a underachiever. He was just in the wrong system in Dallas. He is a great help defender, but Dallas would leave him on a island to defend alone. In Denver, they would never allow him to get posted up by putting him on the non offensive threat bigman so he could help off him. Thats how he could get so many blocks and rebounds per game then. He is a GREAT scorer on pick and rolls, but in Dallas, he only got the ball on drive and kicks. The Pick and Roll was ran with the PG and Nowinski, not him. If they go to some Pick and Roll with him and Pierce the way Walker and Pierce would run it, he will give you 20 a game. Jiri Welsh, if he continues to develop, will be a very good player for them, and I think Boston saw that. I don't think he was a throw in at all. This trade depends on the play of Vin Baker. Boston seems to have confidence that he will return to form and if he does, this will be a good trade for them. If not, it still has potential to be a good trade...but it is more shaky then. For both teams, this is a big roster change for less than 2 weeks away from the season and this will be 50/50 for the first month or two.
  25. It was the back drop out of the chair that let me know it was They live. My old roomate and I both recognized it the first time we saw it. I figured that it inspired how they did the fight, but I had no idea that it was THAT spot on for it.
