    NBA Roundtable Discussion

Averaging 12 points per game is terrible if it includes you shooting 4-12 every night while contributing absolutely nothing else to the roster. Adam Morrison's only NBA level talent coming into his rookie season was his jumpshot. He is slow, cant defend a soul, cant rebound, pass, block, hustle or many other basketball related attributes. Michael Jordan drafted him because he portrayed a deadly jumper at Gonzaga. Gordon,Deng and Hinrich actually made their teams better as rookies. Morrison became so much of an albatross, that he lost playing time to Walter Hermann as the year went on. Ben Gordon. He is/was a jump shooter when he came into the league and shot close to Morrisons percentage. And once again, his rookie year was better than the ENTIRE Pistons roster's rookie years. He took alot of bad shots and was inconsistant. For every game he would shoot 50-55 percent he would shoot 30 percent in two others. Inconsistancy, low shooting percentages...these are things that rookies go through becuase they are playing an entirely new game. For some reason this means Morrison is a bust and the worse top three pick of the decade? But he is in the league for one purpose. To be a scorer. He led rookies in scoring. No. It wasn't a terrible year. It wasn't a great year, but it was a rookie year just the same. And in the preseason before destroying his knee, look at what his coaches and teammates were saying about his improvements defensively. He improved greatly every year in college. He obviously has the work ethic. The guy is going to be fine if he gets back from this injury okay.

Well okay, fine, Adam Morrison had a better or comparable rookie year as the entire Detroit Piston roster except for Antonio Mcdyess. Excuse me for not stopping and looking at someones profile halfway through a post. And the whole "sense" thing, once again, the trade scenario, still hasn't shown how the Bulls get worse in even the slightest way. But since you pointed it out, I do need to respond to him calling Ben Wallace a good on the ball defender. Quick question. In his playoff history, name one offensive player that Ben Wallace has ever slowed down when defending him. Name ONE. I'll wait.... Hakeem Olajawon(before the got hurt) Kenyon Martin, Antoine Walker, Shaq, anyone. They all killed him one on one. and the Pistons always had to go and double his man late. The team didn't get over the hump until they added Rasheed to defend the number one big man offensive threat and allowed Ben to roam. Yes, he was/is an incredible rebounder...one of the best there has ever been honestly, and a great weak side shot blocker. But once again, I am saying, you aren't losing MUCH if you trade him defensively especially on the ball. Everyone else around him is just going to have to be a better defender. And in the proposed trade, you still have Kobe, Thabo, Noah, Turiaf, Duhon Jameson Curry and his 6'8 wingspan with Kobe there to tutor him defensively, and Adrian Griffin. The team would be fine defensively. They would lose some rebounding, but you do add this guy that happens to be the best offensive player in the NBA. I will just say it like this. The Chicago bulls, as they presently are, will not and can not get out of the East. They can't beat Detroit, I am not sure about Boston, but lets just say that they will not be able to guard any of the big three and I doubt that they could beat them. I don't think they could take Jersey or a healthy Toronto or Cleveland(well...maybe Cleveland). They will win alot of regular season games, but they will not win the east, championship...well..ever. Not like this. So yes, adding one of the best players in the NBA at the expense of some good players would get a better chance.

Okay, seriously, he averaged 12 points a game as a rookie with alot of those games as 6th. He shot a bad percentage. So the hell what? Look at the best players in the league and besides guys like Carmelo and Lebron, his scoring average is above what theirs were. He was drafted to be a scorer. 12 points a game is in no way, shape or form terrible. By comparison(I'll just use the bulls players since you are a bulls fan...I think), Ben Gordon came into the league and averaged only 3 more points than him and shot only 4 percent better. Luol Deng came in and averaged the same amount of points and shot around 6 percent better. And I think the best example is that he and Kirk Hinrich had basically the same numbers as rookies. Hinrich - 12 points, 39 percent shooting, 3 turnovers. Morrison - 11.8 points, 38 percent shooting, 2 turnovers. And the difference is the Bulls geared their offense around Hinrich and Gordons coming off screens and shooting. Charlotte, a slow it down half court, feed emeka and gerald Wallace team, didn't mesh with Morrisons game and he still put up very decent numbers for a rookie. So, once again, my point, its tough to call the guy a terrible pick after one arguably decent year as a rookie, and definately ridiculous to say its not a stretch to call him one of the worse top three picks ever. Hell, its ridiculous to say in the last 7 years when Kwame Brown, Jay Williams and Stromile Swift are involved.

    South Park: Season 11

I too think it has gotten better as time has gone on. I think Nostalgia makes people think the show was better but it hasn't really aged that well. I think it hit its stride after the movie...somewhere around season 5.

I personally think it takes more than two years to call someone a worse ever pick. Honestly, his game was never built around athletism, and I can tell you now, because of the injury, during his rehab, he will be shooting twice as much as he does now, so his shot is going to be more accurate. Give him a few years, he will know how to get open...its just him adjusting to the NBA game. He will be fine. I just don't think Charlotte is the place for him. He should be a high touch having starter, not a 6th man, and with Richardson, Wallace, and Carroll there, he ain't making that rotation.

They are pretty much the same team now. The falcons lost by a touchdown with a two rookie offensive linemen (one of which was carted off) and a second year player playing out of position because of injuries. I felt pretty good about this game...until Kieth brooking tackled his own player to get reggie bush in the endzone.

Please explain to me the difference between Noah and/or Wallace and Turiaf? All high energy hustle guys that given the right minutes will net you good numbers. Only Turiaf is much better offensively than both of them, and Wallace is able to stay out of foul trouble better than Turiaf. Much better offensively? HOW? Am I missing the deadly Rony Turiaf jumper? You can to a random ABA team and find a Rony Turiaf. Ben Wallace may be on the downside of his career but hes still one of the top rebounders and defenders in the NBA and far more than a "high energy hustle player". Rony Turiaf may not even be in the NBA next year much less ever average 10 reb a game. How? In every concievable way. He has a hook shot with both hands, a better finisher at the basket and has a consistant jumper out ot 10-15 feet. And yes, Ben Wallace is a high energy hustle player. He doesn't play well defensively on...well...anyone. off the ball, he is as dangerous as most people to play the game, but on the ball he is what he is...a undersized Center that gets abused in the post by anyone not name Big Z. Turiaf, isn't as good off the as Wallace(like I said...there are very few guys that are) but on the ball he is a stronger, longer and better defender. He isn't as consistant as a big rebounder as Wallace, but he is a hell of a defensive and offensive rebounder. Just like last year when I said the bulls weren't really gaining anything with the trade of Chandler and adding Wallace, they really wouldn't lose too much if they were to use Noah and Turiaff in his spot now.

I came in 4th at the state track meet in the Mile run with a severly sprained ankle. Although honestly, if I had been well I probably would have came in 3rd at best because geez...the top two guys were ridiculous. I scored 41 points in the second half and overtime of a basketball game and had a quintuple double. Steals, rebounds, assist, points, and yes, blocks. What can I say. I could jump 11 years ago. Duhon is a respectable defender, and can shoot the ball on kickouts. THats just about what you need from the point guard on this team. And like I said, the Lakers are sitting on at least 3 points now, if they traded for Hinrich, you would probably get Farmar or Javaris back.

I didn't give them all away. You don't keep gordon under any circumstances. You have to keep deng, and trade anyone else. That team that I layed out: Duhon Kobe Deng Turiaf Noah You still have the gritty, hustle defenders in Turiaf and Noah(or Wallace) plus you add Kobe to the defensive backcourt. That is obviously a defensive upgrade and you aren't really losing anything in the front court defensively except maybe a few shot blocks. Offensively this team is alot better because...well..you added Kobe, he can pass out the double team to deadly shooters in Duhon and Deng, and Turiaf and Noah both know how to score around the basket. So basically, with the trade, you definately upgrade offensively and you arguably upgrade defensively and worse case scenario you move laterally. The only thing I think you would sacrafice is the depth that a guy like Nocioni gives you but you still have THabo on the bench, and hell, they could ask the Lakers to throw in one of their points or Cody Karl and the team would still have their depth. No, you don't give up Hinrich, deng AND gordon. But Hinrich and Deng along with Tyrus Thomas and Ben Wallace, I think you are looking at a trade that will make the team better.

Sounds like Justin Williams may have secretly taped the encounter between he and the woman that is accusing him by the way his lawyer is talking. Slappy almost punch to a guys face during an altercation...15 games. Try to get to guy that threw punch...4 games. Giving a hard foul and getting punched....6 games. This bulls team will not win in the playoffs because they don't have a real half court offense. It depends COMPLETELY on jump shots. They lack the slashing and the inside presence that the Suns have on offense to survive with jumpshot heavy offense. I just don't think this team could possibly get out the East as all the other top East teams don't have these problems. They can score on the block(well...not Cleveland), have players that demand the double, and don't have any real defensive liabilites. AND they still don't have a single player that will draw a double team. Yeah, they will continue to get into the second round of the playoffs, but with no scoring on the front line, and niether of them being able to hit a freethrow, the lazy take a game offness of Tyrus Thomas and a offense that is completely geared around the perimeter jumpshot, and you have a team that is going to continue to sputter. PLUS you have your best offensive weapon being a defensive liability. Kobe fixes A: The no double team threat B: The Lack of post up game C: The Defensive Liability. I said it last year and I said it this year. In adding Ben Wallace, all the bulls did was pay more money for a older player. And Tyson was a better on the ball defender than Ben Wallace, who depended upon other players to play on the ball D and he could roam free and cause havoc all over the court. As it is, he is just going to get worse at on the ball D, slower on his roaming. He is still going to be effective, but with Tyson, you didn't really have a small window. You had him locked up for what...6 years? Now you have a small window to win with your highest paid player. Make the Kobe trade and not only do you have a chance at the championship, that window just got alot bigger. You still have a young core that can compete for years. And like I said, he gives you that Dwayne Wade/Lebron James factor. I do believe trading for him can get you into the finals. I don't think this team can make it in as they are currently built. And they are going to lose Gordon or Deng. If they don't sign Deng to and extension, which it looks like isn't going to happen, someone is going to throw him a max deal. And if they resign him to that, I don't see Gordon settling for whats left. He is going to want to get paid too, and I wouldn't expect anything less than 6 years at 60 for him. Deng is obviously the priority, so I just don't see them holding on to Gordon unless he is willing to leave some money on the table. (case in point, Cleveland would offer him 10 per in a heart beat)

Because Kobe, Lebron, and Dwayne wade are the only guys in the NBA you can surround with moderately talented players in the East and have a realistic chance as the championship. The bulls should have no problem giving away Gordon, Nocioni, Wallace(more realistically Noah though), Thomas and Hinrich for Kobe and one of their young points and one of the Laker bigs(someone like Turiaf). That would still give them a young point, Bryant, Deng, Turiaf and Wallace(or Noah) which will get you deep in the East playoffs. A remaining bench of Duhon, Thabo, and other throw ins like Karl would keep the team solid. As of right now, they have no post up game, and they completely depend on the jumpshot to score. Kobe is and can be a post up threat, much like Jordan was the bulls post up threat. He also draws a double team, something that not a single bulls player now does. Defensively, he is a upgrade over their starting backcourt(although Hinrich is a damn good defender). People say throwing away the team, but they are probably going to lose Gordon or Deng this year(most likely Gordon), Wallace is losing his usefulness and this team is not closer to a championship than they were last year. If they had held on to Tyson Chandler, I say stay pat and let your youth mature. But you mortaged the future on a older player in Wallace and gave yourself a smaller window. Trading those players for Kobe makes the Bulls better (and makes the Lakers better) right now.
