    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

No way he took a 18-36 month deal. No freakin way he took a 3 year prison term(which would mean he owes the Falcons 28 million dollars on top of his career being over) plus however long the NFL suspends him. Plus you don't what he pled guilty to. If he ducked the gambling charges, he might have saved his career in the terms that the league couldn't give him a lifetime ban, but what GM would take a chance on him?

    Madden NFL 08

Seriously, you guys are just throwing into coverage and using the truck stick too much. If I don't have the room or there is more than one defender there, i am going down. Spinning, jumping, juking, all up the chances for you to fumble. And I threw one pick in 9 games this weekend against mostly computer and some against the friend who's 360 I borrowed. On All-pro level. If you don't have the advantage on a DB, throwing at him will probably lead to a pick. Thats not a game flaw, thats your fault. Not saying the game is perfect. Its more difficult than before and closer to a sim. You start trying to do all that extra shit on every single play, you are going to fumble alot.

I am guessing it must be a pretty good deal since pleading guilty means his NFL career is probably over and it is probably going to cost him about 22 million in signing bonus money.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

I'm loathe to even discuss this with you, considering the lengths that you go to maintain an apologetic stance for Vick, but this is an absolute riot. Kobe Bryant isn't "gangsta" enough? Is that what you really think this is about? People assuming guilt for Michael Vick not because federal investigators were raiding his house, but because he has cornrows? If this is really all about persecution of an anti-establishment image, have you considered the possibility that Vick has earned that reputation through his actions in the past (flipping off fans, getting stopped for "hidden compartments" in water bottles)? Don't you think that Jason Williams (racist, homophobic statements) and Eminem (homophobic statements, songs about making his wife BLEED BITCH BLEEEEEED) make for poor examples of "unfairly persecuted" public figures? Kobe is a walking example. Kobe was accused of rape, was arrested and not once was the media slant towards him being guilty. They were doing interviews with old girlfriends talking about how he would never do such a thing, with teammates and such. Not once was their an implication of guilt. Then you have the Iverson case where the second he was being sought they were reporting that he threw his wife out the house naked (something later denied by Iverson, his wife, his cousin who came and picked up his wife and his neighbors), that he pulled a gun on a guy after breaking into his apartment (the apartment that he paid the rent, and the guy said he didn't see a gun, but saw a buldge in his pants that could have been a gun). And on top of that, look at a story about Iverson now and they still will mention that incident as though it wasn't completely thrown out of court and the judge called the case laughable. They never mention the Kobe case again. And Kahran, you have to look at the "bad behavior" that got these guys the reputation as to what I am talking about. Peyton Manning, while in college thought it would be hilarious to pull down his pants while a female trainer he didn't get along with was taping his foot and put his bare ass in her face. Allen Iversons friends got in a fight at a bowling alley when he was in high school (witnesses said he was not involved but he was charged with this gang activity charge where any group over 6 is considered a gang). Which one says more to bad behavior? Michael Jordon punches Steve Kerr in the face for setting screens to hard on him during practice. Where is the bad behavior rap on him? Kobe isn't considered a Thug but has gotten into at least 3 fist fights in while in the league and had a rape charge, Iverson is a thug but hasn't been in one fight while in the league. Are we TRUELY pretending that there isn't a difference given? And what differences are their about the people involved? How they speak and how they look. Even more, look at how a fight in baseball is covered and how a fight in basketball is covered. Hell, look at how Keyon Dooling and Ray Allen brawling into the stands was covered and how the Jr. Smith/Nate Robinson/Carmelo Anthony thing was covered. Look at how words are used to sway the meaning of a article. "Iverson claims he was not involved in assualt." vs "Kerney not involved in sexual assault". These were the actual headline titles on ESPN. Vick was convicted by the media the second Surry county investigators went to that house. Just like he was convicted by the media when that water bottle incident occured. The actual article title in the AJC and on ESPN when the test were completed on the water bottle contents : "Police decide not to pursue charges against Vick". Not : Water bottle content not illegal drugs, or anything like that. Is Vick and idiot? Yep. Is he about to go to jail? Yep. Were the media premature assertions of guilt correct. Looks like they were. But what about the countless other times they were flat out wrong. And it seems that a certain type of athlete are the ones that will get the automatic guilty press spin and its obvious. Let a white athlete from a southern team say something that could be percieved as racist and its going to be all over the place, because you know, southern white people are all racist. Let someone from a more "advanced" area say something that is COMPLETELY racist then it will be glossed over, or explained in depth as to why it isn't racist. The media will insist on the guilt of certain people and not on the other and people will eat it up like candy. I mean seriously, remove the dog fighting from the picture, if Matt Leinert had the same list of things against him that Vick had before: Not throwing away a water bottle, flipping of opposing fans and a civil suit, do you HONESTLY think he would have been called a thug or half the things Vick was called? Or for that matter, if Dante Culpepper had the same list of things, or Donovan McNabb(who does have the cornrows but has a completely different pattern of speech than Vick). Do you all really think the John Rocker interview would have been nearly as explosive if he was a member of the Boston Red Sox at the time? If anything they would have played it up as adding to the fued and been done with it. If Kerney had been, say Chad Johnson(who has never done a thing but is ghetto as all hell) and the same thing happened do you think the headlines would have said "Alleged rape at Chad Johnsons home; Johnson said not to be involved" or would it have said "Police: Rape at Chad Johnsons home". My bottomline is that the media likes to play to stereotypes, and no one is excluded and the beginnings of this case was a clear and perfect example of it. No one is saying Vick is an alright guy and that this case is about race. no, its about dog fighting and stupidity of a athlete. But what I am saying is that if it had been, shit, Jake Plummer at the center of this case, the media would have covered it COMPLETELY Differently. Peta would have still protested because its not like they have anything better to do, but I doubt the media editorial venom inserted into non opinion pieces would have been there.

    Buffets

Go to a buffet in a really small southern town and the food is fucking incredible. Its like they don't know how to make bland food. I know in my hometown (WHOOO TROY!!!!!!) going out to Barnhills is like some of the greatest food ever. But I have never gone to a buffet here in Atlanta, because fuck that. I take that back. I went to one or two when I first moved here, thinking it would be like back home and the food was disgusting. I do go to Brazillian steakhouses all the time now for a combination of reasons. A: the women that work there are always smoking hot and B: All you can eat beef. Flip the card to green and get a constant flowing of steak, lamb, chicken and some pork until you can't move. And they have this mini buffet/salad bar area for the dumbasses that don't want to leave space open for beef. Some of the places are like 50 bucks for dinner, but there is one down the street from me is like 25 where you don't get filet mignon(and i don't really care for that cut anyway, so whoopity doo) and the atmosphere isn't as great as the more expensive places, but you don't eat atmosphere. the food is fucking perfect.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

He wouldn't be getting much time for the dog fighting. It would be the interstate gambling and such that offers such a stiff sentence. And Rant, when I say Vick was automatically considered guilty, I mean when they raided the place. there were no witnesses, no connection to him outside it was some property he owned. Yet people were saying "Vick is fighting dogs". I understand thinking he is guilty now, with more about the case coming out, but the SECOND the story broke, it was "He was guilty". Like honestly, say if tommorrow a story broke about a rape happening at Allen Iversons house, while he was in the home. Is anyone honestly going to argue it would be covered the same way the Patrick Kerney incident was? And that Iverson wouldn't be assumed guilty. Its not about black or white, its about the look of the black and white. If Jason Williams or Eminem were in the same situation the same negative spin would have been made. If it were Tiki Barber or Kobe, or Ladamian Tomilson, people would give them the benifit of the doubt. Even better example, remember how much benefit of the doubt people gave OJ? Reporters were slanting it as he couldn't have had anything to do with it and such. Because of how OJ was percieved by the media. Then the facts of the case came out and it was fuck OJ.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

Thanks for proving my point. Are you honestly going to say that if, say Peyton Manning, had a picture taken with him OBVIOUSLY smoking a black and mild. NO MISTAKING that it was a black and mild. NO WAY to confuse it as ANYTHING other than a black and mild. If manning had a picture taken with him smoking one, would ANYONE have said "Peyton is smoking weed." No they wouldn't have. That was simply a case of Michael Vick being a black guy with cornrows thus he MUST be smoking weed. Now if you want to argue that it had been emptied and weed was put in the black and mild, okay, but they made the weed assumption COMPLETELY from this picture...of him holding a black and mild. Flipping off fans? Are you serious? Ron Mexico incident? You mean a civil case? Really. Seriously, are you saying that if Peyton manning flipped off fans and had a picture of him smoking that it would be a logical belief if someone accused him of running a dog fighting opperation. Comeon now. At the same time, if this was David Garrad, I don't think it would have been that big of a deal. The fact of the matter is, he had a 130 million dollar contract, and was overhyped to hell and back by ESPN for about 3 years. On top of that he represented a hip-hop culture(lets not pretend people weren't calling him a "thug" before any of this occured. I can provide links if you need me to) to the media. THAT is why Vick was assumed guilty. His checkered past of smoking a cigar and not throwing away water bottles had nothing to do with it.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

I have to disagree here. Vick was automatically assumed to be guilty because of the previous acts of stupidity that he was involved in. The Duke lacrosse players were viewed as guilty and they're clean-cut white boys. Two completely different cases first of all. And you have to admit, Vicks "acts of stupidity" consist of not wanting to throw away a water bottle this one time. How does that equate "Well, its no suprise that he paid for the running of a dog fighting opperation. He didn't want to throw away that water bottle this one time." Thats not even a logical jump there. And gang rape cases = the guys are always assumed guilty. One on one rape cases = if the guy is famous the girl is assumed to be lying. I think that is some unwritten media rule.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

Have you watched ESPN? They have pretty much called the guy guilty from day one. They circled the wagons around KObe, but Vick, heck no. And I disagree with the rest of the media too. Its vicks image. The media will go after "hip-hop" guys. Simple as that. If this was Jason Williams they would be all over his ass but not so much if it were Kobe or Ray Allen. Guys like Vick or Iverson who are seen as urban get the guilty until proven innnocent treatment from the media. Them and republicans.

    Michael Vick's "Dog Fight" Investigation

Eh, him being vick, who happens to be a black QB with cornrows and has that huge contract, is why he was automatically guilty in the public eye though. I say if it was Peyton Manning, it wouldn't have been that way. But if it were, say, Jeff George or Ryan Leaf (when they were relevant) it would have probably been the same. I am still waiting to see what happens here though. Like I said before, if his boys testify against him, he is up shits creek. I truely believe that he could probably still get off, but those threated racketeering charges would make almost anyone take the plea. But I am not so sure if he can afford to take one. I mean, it will be seen as a admission of guilt without the ability to even slightly defend anything. From looking at the whole case, I think that his boys said they wanted to start a dogfighting scheme and he gave them the money for it. The first guy said that Vick funded the startup and then said that he and the other three split the money so it looks like Mike really didn't get money from this and might have not known what was going on there. But funding it alone is reason for him to get suspended from the league and get the ire of the people honestly. It was plain stupidity. But with a guilty plea, he will forever be thought of as a guy that was at the fights, shooting dogs and the like when he isn't even accused of that. Plus he is going to get a stiffer suspension than Jamal Lewis and Pacman Jones and Chris Henry and Tank Johnson(well his initial punishment) and Leonard Little combined. Really thinking about that....wow .

    The border war...

you have got to be kidding me that the reply I made got lost. Summary: This is a intersting paper, but in the end it is a republican slanted opinion piece and nothing more. He is an economist that views the customer service sector as another imported/exported good, and while that works for the manufacturing sector which is pretty much the basis behind the theory of outsourcing as a whole (the outsourcing of some labor jobs creates the window for newer and better labor jobs) it does not work in the customer service field, which once again wouldn't be a big deal except that this is the field that is being most effected by outsourcing for the last 3-5 years. I had alot more stuff detailing about how customer service jobs are to the lower middle and upper lower class citizens and why it is important, and why I don't blame the companies, but at the end of the day, loopholes are making it easier and smarter to export and important job field with no return to the american job market the way other sectors actually do offer a return. And other economist agree. Just not this guy.

I still say US greed is what is causing the problem also along with the Mexican goverment not attempting to make a change. They want a thousand bucks for a green card, then it cost how many thousands to become a citizen? After how many years? You have people sneaking across the boader to make a better living for their families. Doing it legally, it would be kinda tough. Where exactly are poor people supposed to pull the thousand dollars from?

My biggest complain has always been the DB's not making a accurate play on the ball. I get a guy in perfect position between the reciever and the ball, hit the catch button and he reaches like the pass is low and behind him when the ball is clearly there for a jump catch. The reciever of course sees this and catches the ball. Annoys the living shit outta me.
