  1. That Yahoo headline still annoys me. Okay, mostly it is Sony that annoys me with their obvious buying of press, but still. "Sony Leads the Gaming Console Battle" is the headline. That just pisses me off.

Yahoo - where third place = leading.

  2. Ripper is emphatic about Camby being a shitty defender, and it's just not true. Eddy Curry is a shitty defender. Camby has long, disruptive arms and is a GREAT weakside/help shot blocker. He's stronger than he looks, but he's not strong enough to be a great low post defender. He's got good timing and some burst making plays on the ball, but he's not laterally quick enough to be a great rotational defender. But he is a great shotblocker with long arms and a great instinct for the ball, and that alone makes him a positive contributer on the defensive end. And he's a great defensive rebounder.

You know who else is a great weakside shotblocker and defensive rebounder? Amare Stoudimire. Do you realize how much he sucks defensively?

Camby's shotblocking is window dressing. This is basketball. You have to actually defend instead of just going for a block on the weakside 5-6 times a game. Like guys like Kaman, Amare, Eddy Curry and Andew Bogut, he just WATCHES the pick and role. LIke if his man sets the pick, he seriously doesn't even try. He does this lame step out thing and just watches his man go to the rim and score. Its pathetic to watch. Bogut does it in spurts now. Amare does it until he feels like playing D. Camby and Kaman will do that shit from tip off till game on the line.

Camby can't guard back to the basket guys. They back him down and score. Easily. Like, as if a guard is on him. He is a BAD low post defender. He can't defend face up bigs. they just go right by him like he is standing in cement.

The only thing Camby's time in denver has done is inflate his shot block numbers because of bad perimeter D. Camby is a monster defensive rebounder, a shakey offensive player(one that feels he should take more shots) and a bad defender.

I do agree though, for a second round pick, its a steal. If nothing else, it will make Clippers fans feel a little better. Until the season starts.

  3. Imagine how bad the Nuggets' defense is going to look now. I understand this was a salary move, but wtf, Denver.

Seriously, Camby was the second worse defender on the team behind Anthony. He really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY sucks defensively.

So the Clippers basically traded Brand and Maggette for Baron Davis and Marcus Camby. I would have done that deal in a second.

So they traded a fragile guard that doesn't play D and feels he should be a centerpiece in the offense for a fragile big man that doesn't play defense that feels he should be a bigger part of the offense....

I give you Brand/Davis...maybe (although Brand > Davis and I love Baron Davis) but maggette for Camby is a pretty lateral move.

Do people realize how HORRIBLE that frontline is going to be defensively now. Stat people will see "hey, they have the number one and number two shotblockers in the league". People that have watched them play will know that opposing big men are going to average 80 points a game against them next year.

  4. Oh, I wasn't done bitching.

Fuck that MAG trailer. I am so sick of them putting out rendered video to get people excited. If you put that many fucking people online on a game at the same time interacting with each other it is A: Going to be ridiculously slow or B: Not going to look amazing. I am putting my money on the not looking amazing part. So get the fuck out of here with hyping people up with a level of graphics you know GODDAMNED well you won't be able to reach when you try and put over 250 players out there at once. Fucking assholes.

God of War III should be awesome, I will believe a good DC game when it happens, and Little Big Planet looks amazing.

Still, I don't understand the "Microsoft and Nintendo should be nervous about Sony's annoucements" headline on Yahoo right now. Maybe its just me, but I ain't that fucking impressed that 'Sony takes the lead" should be the headline on my homepage. Not that Microsoft (new dashboard and we ripped off Mii's) and their announcement about FF what the fuckever excited me (have never played a FF game and probably never will) and Nintendo was blah, but honestly, why spend money putting on a show when people are going to buy your shit anyway?

  5.

Jesus fuck I'm all over that.

I am not going to get over excited. I mean it Psi-ops/Crackdown. Or Psi-Down. Or Crackops.

Meaning there are like a million ways it could be totally awesome....and a million ways it could suck untold amounts of ass. I have to assume that story is going to suck, because...well..it looks like its going to suck. The gameplay looks like one of those games you could sit there and fuck around for hours and still have fun (unlike, say GTAIV which sucked that ability right out of the series). But still...not going to get overly excited...yet(since I ain't getting any Crackdown 2 goddammit.)

  6. I still dont understand how they screwed up that Xmen Legends rip off with the DC Universe. I mean for christ sake, all they had to do was ripoff the gameplay with DC characters. I mean, there was that problem with basically all of the DC characters being gamebreakers, but still.

  7. but a game that involves the DC Universe..? :o Fuckin A, they may have just sold it to me, and I haven't even seen gameplay yet.

Many of bad games have been sold on that premise. See: Every superman, batman and justice league game ever.

  8. Did he just say it'll take a an hour to download a two hour movie?

I could walk to and from a video store before the movie would even be fully downloaded.

Oh come on, thats just wanting to complain. That is a pretty good download speed to get a movie that long downloaded in that time.

  9. Deandre Jordan fell to the second round because his only NBA talent is that he can jump. Thats it. He sucks offensively, defensively and can't rebound that well. But he is tall and a athlete. He is Stromile Swift 3.0.

    Who's 2.0?

Any time you add a 20/10 guy to your roster, you´re looking at a big improvement.

Unless you're the New York Knicks and that guy is Zach Randolph, in which case you improbably become worse.

As far as not trading Randolph for cap relief, whatever, it sounds ideal, but I completely agree that Randolph could be really good playing for D'Antonio, and if he is they can easily trade him after the season or at the trade deadline and get a much better return on him, like a good draft pick or two and a decent-good player with a short contract.

Really, Randolph should flourish under D'Antoni. He's an inside-outside scoring threat and a good rebounder, mediocre defender, but based on his tenure with the Suns D'Antoni won't hold that against him. He could score a lot of points and grab a ton of rebounds next year, the only question I have is if he gets himself in good enough shape and is willing to run.

Yes, Tyrus Thomas is Swift 2.0

And Randolph shouldn't flourish in Mikes system honestly. His system steams from ballmovement. If you don't have a shot when steve gets you the ball, there is no reason for you not to be moving and passing the ball away. Anyone that has watched Randolph play knows the he is a traditional block scorer. he gets the ball, creates space, faces up, takes a jumper or does his move with his back to the basket. The Suns system is catch and go. thats why a guy like Marcus Banks didn't work in Phoenix because he was being too traditional of a basketball player.

I think they should move Randolph right now, and as quickly as possible. And Curry. Guys like Sean Williamsand Josh Boone would work better in Mikes system honestly.

  10. Nick (NYC): With Elton Brand's departure from the Clippers, Zach Randolph's stock just went up. Can you see Randolph going there for maybe Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, and cash? Remember Clips are under the cap so they don't have to match salaries.

Take away the Gordon part, and honestly it would make the Clippers a better team. Zach randolph or Tim Thomas....I mean I think that is a no brainer

Well, obviously. I was more laughing at the Knick fan thinking they could actually dump Randolph's contract on the Clippers and get back two lottery talents in return.

EDIT: And yes, I know Jordan was drafted in the second round, but he was projected as a top 10 pick early on, and wound up slipping because of character issues or something.

Deandre Jordan fell to the second round because his only NBA talent is that he can jump. Thats it. He sucks offensively, defensively and can't rebound that well. But he is tall and a athlete. He is Stromile Swift 3.0.

Zach is a 20-10 guy. They need to replace their 20-10 guy. Yeah, Brand was alot better and actually plays defense, but I think Zach could be a good replacement.

  12. Well, Rick Sund came in and decided that apparently a 37 win team was PERFECT as he retained all the players (minus Salim Stoudimire) and the coaches. With Woodson at the helm, they might not be a playoff team again. But yeah, he would be dumb to go to the clippers.

Although I think Okafor might go and that will get the Clipps some more wins before he and Kaman run into each other and miss the rest of the season.

While I don't think the Clippers will be great, if Mike Dunleavy opens up the offense with Baron, Thorton, Gordon...*talks under his breath* mobley and tim thomas...I think they could be okay.

I mean a starting line up of Kaman Thomas, Thorton, Mobley(to start off the year) and Davis isn't that bad. Better than the Ellis, Maggette, Jackson, Harrington, Biedriens(maybe) lineup they will be troting out in Oakland.

And yeah Al, I saw that Tyronne Lue story...well at least they have a guy that will ONLY pass to Shaq...because that is what they needed....a slow, can't play D on anyone, over dribble the ball without doing anything give the ball only to one guy back up point guard.

  13. Will Smith doesn't come close to playing the same role.

He doesn't play the exact same guy every time out, no. But he does tend to play a lot of similar roles in some movies. His characters in Independence Day, Bad Boys, Men In Black, Wild Wild West, and so on were all very familiar. Hell, the guys in I, Robot and I Am Legend were just slightly darker versions of those. He's kind of like a Jack Nicholson type; he stretches his range here and there, but often goes back to the same kind of personality for many of his films.

    Wow dude.

Independence Day, Men In Black, Wild Wild West, I give you that. I will say that Mike Lowery was a slightly darker version of those characters.

But to saying the I Robot guy and the I am Legend guy were SLIGHTLY darker versions of those characters..come one man.

The only thing those characters had in common is that they were black guys. ESPECIALLY the I am Legend guy. The only smile he shot the entire movie was to his kid in one flashback.

And that doesn't Mention Ali, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Hitch, Hancock, Enemy of the state and six degrees of separation in which he played wildly different characters.

I am starting to think that if you don't throw on a fake accent from time to time people are going to say you always play the same character.

  14. He takes about 20 bad shots a game, has said "Fuck that defense shit" much like Paul Pierce did after a few years in Boston, still takes 4 threes a game for some fuckign reason, whines when he doesn't get the ball, whines when the team loses (despite him going 4-60 in the game), constantly leaves his teammates watching as they were thinking they were about to run a play and Andre says "Watch me score this!"

He is one of those players that will throw a bullet pass from 2 feet away from a guy to his shoes and then make faces and yell at the guy for not catching it. I need a guy willing to pat himself on the chest and say "My Bad" even when it isn't his fault sometimes. I hate those fuckers that ALWAYS pretend its everyone else.

No, i am not a Iggy fan. He is a guy that can be a damn good player on a horrible team. he however can't be a damn good player on a good team unless he takes a step back and sees that he isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread. They have a great point guard that alot of times goes ridiculous amounts of time without the ball because their SG wants to go against the world. I have watched dalembert get great post position right under the basket and get waved away by a dribbling Iggy.

He freakin annoys me watching him play, then once or twice a week he goes ape shit and plays the way he should play and I forget how much I dislike his game. Then he reminds me one game later.

  15. I think they should trade Iggy while people still seem to think he is a good player. Or convince him to go back to the shut down defender he was his rookie year and stop thinking he is a superstar. because, you know...he isn't.

If they added a shooter that can play D at that position (like Anthony Parker who is gone or Kieth Bogans or a Deshawn Stevenson) this team would be ALOT better. As is, I think they have a chance to be very good. With Dalembert and Brand they will have one of the better shotblocking front courts in the NBA, they have a great point guard and Thaddus Young is going to be a good player. Downside is that they sacraficed some depth at the wings to add brand, and they still have to resign Louis Williams or they are going to have depth problems at the point/Shooting guard position.

  16. Dude...what the fuck is golden state doing?

They have offered Ronny Turiaf a 4 year 17 million dollar contract. Once again, they are doing all this BEFORE they resign Monta and Andries Biedriens. If I am not confused, because he was as second round pick, they can't go over the cap to resign Monta (I think this is how they lost Gilbert...they weren't able to just give him a big contract or something like that).

Who's in the draft that they are shooting for because this team isn't going to win 10 games at this point.

Not counting the free agents, so far the team is:

    Brandon Wright

    Al Harrington

    Stephen Jackson

    Corey Maggette

    CJ Watson

    Marco belinelli

    Anthony Randolf

    Kosta Perovic

Thats it. Even if everything goes to plan, you basically add Monta Ellis, Ronny Turiaf and Andries Biedrins to that mix. That still isn't a 30 win team.

  17. Yeah, and thankfully they are dealing with Sterling who will not make it a max contract and the hawks can match.

In other news, Brandon Jennings and his hi-top fade are heading to Europe for a year instead of playing for Arizona. Great decision by this kid. Hopefully it will bring about some change from the dumbass rules the NBA has now or causes a mass exodus to the Euros for kids that should have been lottery picks.

And I am noticing how all the stories are playing it up like he is going because he couldn't make his SAT scores, despite the fact that he actually passed the test, but had to retake because the NCAA said there was too big of a jump from the first time and second time he took it.

  18. L.A. Times is also reporting that Maggette has signed with the Golden State Warriors for deal worth around 50 million

Way to address that hole at the PG.

And they still don't have deals for Monta Ellis and Andres Biedrens. But hey!!! They have another SG/SF!!!!

I tell ya, some of these teams fuckups are making me feel better about hte Suns and the hawks offseasons...not much, but some.

  19. Carney has a future if he can learn to defend. Calvin Booth is still in the league much to the suprise of everyone...including Calvin Booth. That guy turned ONE FUCKING LAYUP into a huge contract. Fuck Jerome James, this guy made it big.
