Oh nothing specific, it just seems thats the one mail app that is really hit & miss. If OE doesn't work, i can usually tell them why, I'd say 95% of the time. If Mail doesn't work....i got no clue. "Settings ok..welp...talk to apple bout that one" It's probably some router blocking it...possibly even ours. lol while it may not be airports only....at least a couple times a day I explain the difference between LAC, Wireless, Airport & and the internet connection. Our companies obviously don't use the same acronyms or terms.

Oh, I've messed with some airport and dial up on macs before. The other stuff I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Most people here hate the dreaded mac call, it's not that bad for me. I was messing with Macs all through high school. Mac calls just take a lil longer cuz i don't have all the screens memorized, but it usually works out good in the end. can you ping those sites? if you can, it's a browser problem. most likely you can't ping them, so do a tracert on their ip's. it's probably routing somwhere funky, so maybe getting a new IP from your ISP would help. leaving the modem powered off for 15-20 mins might do the trick.

a router would only work if she knows about this, and if not using wireless, you'd have to run an ethernet cable from her place to yours. and it wouldn't be in mole's place anyways, the router would have to be in her apartment. Now when you say "her cable" runs up to your place, are you saying that you share a bill? and that the cable is actually just split from her place up to yours. if that is the case...those are shitty apartments...but hooking up a cable modem will do no good if her modem is hooked up, as I don't believe the ISP will be down with her pulling 2 IP's.
