Do I smell 60 minute draw? Maybe if Chono has a hand in the booking...
-
The complete version of this might have aired on Samurai TV. I know for a fact that the match itself did air, I just don't know if it was full or not. Judging by how long the show was and how many matches were on it, there's a good chance that it was full.

Who is the greatest Tag Team
World's Worst Man replied to CanadianGuitarist's topic in General Wrestling
The Rockers and E&C work together to eliminate Demolition. After the fall, E&C try to get the jump on The Rockers, but end up knocking into each other. Double superkicks, and double top-rope splashes later, The Rockers come out on top. -
Is Shawn Michaels this generation's Ric Flair?
World's Worst Man replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Well see, the thing about that is, that when people make comparisons to Flair, many people treat it as a debate of who the best worker ever is. Which is funny, because Flair probably isn't even one of the best 20 in-ring workers of all time. Not saying that's the case with this thread, but it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to get that idea, what with so many people still believing the Flair myth. -
According to a buddy of mine in Japan, this is looking like it might be the case. There have been rumblings about Simon Inoki wanting to reach an agreement with TNA for a couple months now. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the start of something between the two companies.

European fashion model? Gassed up version of Milano Collection AT, with 0.1% of the talent? This I gotta see.

I make the odd post, but lately I've tended to shy away from the big, long debate topics. I got tired of the constant smart-assed replies (to legitimate points), baseless accusations and other fun stuff that seems to go on over there.

To be honest, I don't really dig either band. Nightwish's music never grabbed me, as there melodies didn't seem all that good. I did like Lacuna Coil for a while, but their music didn't age well for me. Ironically, the same thing is happening to me with regards to Within Temptation, although there are still a few of their songs that I like. Edit: I definitely agree about Lacuna Coil's male vocalist.

He's the guy that runs SmarksChoice. Not overly famous unless you frequent that site. He's not really a bad guy or anything, just a bit frustrating to discuss wrestling with. (As are a lot of guy's in thet crew)

Bob Jackson, aka Bobbins, is just a complete asshole. He adds absolutely nothing to any board I’ve ever seen him a part of. This jerk is far more concerned with shouting and swearing as long and as loud as he can just to make sure that people notice him than in actually adding anything of any kind of value to any discussion he is a part of. If Jackson spoke to people in real life the same way he spoke to them online, he would get the shit kicked out of him. If he ever stepped out from behind the keyboard, we’d see a very small and insignificant human being. Haha, that exceeded my expectations. Ok, last one, Rob Edwards.

bobbins aka Bob Jackson. Teehee.

Shoot away. Anyone else you want me to shoot on? How about Dave Meltzer. There aren’t many people who have the knowledge and understanding of wrestling that Dave Meltzer has. For all the negatives that can be said about Meltzer, there is no question that he knows what he is talking about when it comes to wrestling history and an understanding of wrestling. That said, Meltzer does have flaws when it comes to certain wrestlers, such as Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels. He tends to look at things too much from his own point of view, and not look at things enough from the point of view of others, and that can detract from the quality of his opinion. I don’t always agree with Meltzer’s opinions on matches and wrestlers, but his opinion on the historical aspect of wrestling, and the business side of wrestling, is usually spot-on. I pretty much agree. For knowledge of the business and history of wrestling, there's not many who are his equal. Even if his match ratings are crazy

It can be, but if I've not heard of the person in question, I can't give an opinion on them. I’ve tried reading some of his work, but I couldn’t finish even one piece. Most of what else I know about SK is by reputation only, and the general consensus seems to be either that he was good at one time but he’s now lost a step, or that he was never that good to begin with and only got over because of how he wrote his trademark rants. Keith is a guy who has wildly biased and inconsistent opinions on wrestling, yet is never able to actually support those opinions. That makes him a shitty judge of wrestling and an even worse journalist in my eyes. Having read a bunch of Cooey's reviews, he generally is a good analyst of wrestling. His problem is that he occasionally gets too deep and starts finding fault with things that simply aren't there. And on the other end, he sometimes praises matches for psychology that is buried beneath so many layers of analysis, that it's doubtful that the workers even intended it to have such meaning. Although to be fair, a lot of people do this, especially a certain crew of people who think Steve Austin was one of the best workers ever during the later stages of his career. And as far as his attitude, he is a bit of a prick, even towards people who don't offend him. Not really enough to be a big problem though, and if his major tirades are directed towards people who are idiots, I really have no problem with that either. Er, oops. This was supposed to be you shooting on people, my bad

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm really digging the symphonic/melodic metal with female vocalists lately. I'd recommend Penumbra for anyone who likes that symphonic/opera-esque metal stuff. Really good stuff. Leaves' Eyes same deal, although it's a fair bit softer than Penumbra.

Indeed. If Benoit or Angle are going to use suplexes, at least make it look like they hurt. I mean damn, I used to think the olympic slam was a shitty move. Then I saw Sugiura use it and I though "God damn that's a pretty good move, too bad Angle doesn't do it that way!". Either do the moves right, or don't use them. And for the flying highspots, either use them, or kill the CW division. There's absolutely no point in having a CW division if the guys are going to wrestle like everyone else.

I was thinking the same thing actually, but I never really expected it just because it'd be too close to Carlito's thing. Overall, Rhodes had the facial expressions down, that's for sure. But I'd still love to see some wild brawling from him, and maybe a gimmick where Cade has to hold him back from getting DQed as he is wailing the shit out of his opponent. Just something to really show that Rhodes is a wild, drunk redneck barfighter while Cade is the smooth, but goofy partner who has to keep him in check.

The in-ring product mainly. Enough with the ban on neck-bumps, high-flying and "snug" strikes. Get some real german suplexes in there, let the CWs do some modern dives and let guy's use strikes that actually look like they could crack an egg. Who knows, maybe if they let guys go balls out and put on great matches, they'll gain more support from the hardcore wrestling crowd.

So how long does it take for WWE to realize Masters and Conway won't ever be over the way they are right now?
-
C'mon. When was the last time anyone, let alone a tag team, had such build-up with vignettes and a chance to show off their characters before a TV debut. It's better than just throwing them on TV blind (like the Heart Throbs). Aside from the outlandish Murdoch with the Deliverance hick stereotype stuff, we got what they were really about, so the vignettes did their job. More debutees desperately need such treatment, as exaggerated as it is, because what WWE does otherwise usually doesn't cut it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd say the problem is that for all the promos they did, that personality didn't come through in the match at all. Murdoch especially wasn't wrestling like a guy with his personality should. Some goof made a quip about it being good that they aren't Stan Hansen clones. Being a Stan Hansen clone would actually make sense given the characters they portrayed in the promos, rather than them wrestling like every other WWE wrestler on the roster. Murdoch should be yelling around at the ref, do some scrappy brawling with the opponents, while Cade plays the smooth guy who ends up looking like a clown.

Yea, that kind of attitude is just prevalent in #wrestling on EFnet, where the people are infinitely more retarded than anyone on this forum could ever dream of being.

Liger in TNA = good news. I hope TNA and NJPW end up with a working agreement, as I've heard rumoured for the past 2 months. Tanaka, Tiger Mask, Kanemoto in the X-Division? Tanahashi vs. Joe? Make it god damn happen!

What are your favorite Bobby Heenan memories?
World's Worst Man replied to a topic in General Wrestling
"Tito Santana is like a cue-ball. The harder you strike him, the more English you get out of him." Just one of many classic Heenan quotes. Probably the funniest colour commentary I've ever heard. On the other end of the spectrum though, I remember his act during the Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit Owen Hart tribute match. There was absolutely no room for humour in that situation, and Heenan came off extremely poor. -
JustJoe. *chuckles*

Is Shawn Michaels this generation's Ric Flair?
World's Worst Man replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
What about finishing moves, are they business-exposing too? Because Bret's "5 moves of doom" was essentially like a big, long finishing move. Is Samoa Joe's chimera-plex business exposing? Because that's more or less the same idea, doing the same sequence of moves every time. Maybe you should care, because then you'd realize exactly why that promotion makes everyone else seem worse in comparison. And really, so what if it does? People aren't worrying if current wrestling holds up to AJPW circa 1993. If a match is great, it's great. Just because it's not the "best ever~!" doesn't make it less enjoyable. I mean hell, I could look at ROH in 2004, which probably murders any year in WWE history and any other promotion in 2004. Doesn't mean that ROH in 2004 was the be-all end-all of great wrestling, nor does it mean that I didn't really dig other stuff from 2004. I also fail to see how they aren't comparable. It's simply a matter of different styles of wrestling.
