    It's that time again

Oh yeah, cause Max Kellerman was so humble? I know a lot of people hate the change on ATH, but I think Reali has done a fine job in place of Max. Did I, Max get canned, cause I haven't seen it in a real long time?

    Brock Lesnar Returning to WWE

Best news in a long time. I think Summerslam would be perfect to launch a bidding war between Long and Bischoff for Lesnar. That would build him up big. Also, I'd save Batista/Lesnar for WM as well. They should not touch each other for awhile. They can tease and stare down, but not touch until at least Survivor Series. This is where a guy like Heyman could help because he knows the good slow build. My chops are watering at the potential. Let's just hope the lockeroom leaders JBL, Taker, and HHH don't get it in their heads that Brock needs to be humbled by having him job out.

WWE just cut a lot of guys

My take on the new WWE released as pertains to TNA Shannon Moore- Obvious X Division guy, but I'm not sure if he'll just be a blond Sonjay Dutt. He has never been given a real oppurtunity to have much of a personality or work the mic. If he can work the mic, great, if not, he's probrably and X Divsion JTTS. Akio-Another X Division guy who I think can get away with not being able to cut a promo. If they give him the proper push, he could possibly legit challenge for the X title. Kidman- Depends on his health. Word was before he was released, he was in pretty bad shape. If he is healthy, I think he could work with the regulars, but I don't see him in the X Division if he came on board. Jindrak- There is potential here, but they have to totally remake him. I'm not saying to over-characterize him here, but they have to attempt to erase the taste of WWE Jindrak from everyone's mouth, otherwise this is just another chapter of TNA taking WWE's scraps, which is how it will be percieved. Gangrel- I could see him joining Jim Mitchell's group along with Abyss. Perhaps form a tag team with Abyss or a short feud with Raven. That's about it. Maven- I wouldn't even bother. The fact that he won the first TE doesn't mean anything anymore and since he hasn't improved one iota, I wouldn't waste my time or money. Spike- I wouldn't do it. He can't be Spike Dudley IIRC because WWE owns the rights to it. Even if he can only be just plain Spike I don't think it'd be worth it. He had a nice run, but to me he just never came off good except in ECW where they knew what to do with him. His WWE run wasn't that good and I don't think he'd fare well here. Not athletic enough to keep up with what the X Division work standard is IMO. Kevin Fertig- Forget about it. This guy needs at least another year or two of training before he should be allowed to have matches on TV. Has a good look, but when your in ring work makes Hoyt look like Misawa, you've got in ring issues.

    WWE Signs Big Vito

Vito is solid. I'm for this. Also, while I love the cruiserweight work, since WWE will NEVER know how to properly promote smaller guys, I figure they can at least attempt to bring back good tag team work with some cruisers peppered in.

Michael Smith is very good and Josh Elliot is passable for both PTI and JRIB. While I can stomach Wilbon, I just have it out for Kornheiser. Korny just seems like a more annoying Woody Paige. Skip Bayliss 0wns, especially when he subs for Rome on the radio because of the email exchanges with the clones. Skip would 0wn more, but he has too many conspiracy theories that are full of it.

Midcard guys you think are safe from

I wanted to get the obvious ones out of the way. Holly is an interesting one. He pretty much is only a lockeroom enforcer, and JBL seems to have that down pat. Perhaps Mr. Holly's usefulness is gone? What about Haas?

    WON MMA HOF

I'll add my 2 cents to the guys from RRR's original posting list... Tank Abbott-If being a big draw is criteria , I guess. That is all he has going for him. Other than that, he's a no for me. Mark Coleman-Definitely. Ground and Pound's godfather. Randy Couture-For sure. Don Frye-Very controverial, even more so than Igor IMO. He's borderline right now with me tilting towards no. Masakatsu Funaki-For now, I'd have to say no. Rickson Gracie-If we are going only on UFC and Pride stuff, it'd be no, but since I know a lot about him, he's a yes for me. It's too bad he didn't fight in the more mainstream promotions. Royce Gracie-Definite yes. Bas Rutten-Gotta say no, but he's a great commentator. Kazushi Sakuraba-Yes Dan Severn-Yes Frank Shamrock-No Ken Shamrock-Yes, but there is an argument against and I have a bias for him. Maurice Smith-No

The OAO Raw THHHread for 07.04.05

For Hogan/Shawn, I expect Hogan to stand in the middle and Shawn to pretty much bump off of him for 8-10 minutes before Hogan's 3 moves of doom. See Jericho/Hogan from SD May 2002 for the formula. They could also go the No DQ, weapons match as well if they plan on going longer than 15 minutes.

    Raw Brand Analysis

Actually, I think Carlito has the most potential for a breakout year. On WOL, Konnan said that he can actually do more in the ring like high flying and such, but WWE wants him to do more their style, so it limits him. Plus, as gauged by reactions live and from other reports, he's got a face run in the future as well.

The Game taunts 50 Cent at Summer Jam

You guys have your letters mixed up. The hybrid car is called the PRIUS. The street gang is called PIRUS. It actually should be Piru's. Piru in swahili means blood, hence why Suge Knight is heavily affiliated.

    The Bubble Vince lives in

While what you say is true, vivisectvi, it doesn't mean WWE isn't closed to criticism for what they are doing.

    Projected SummerSlam card

Well, since HHH/Angle wouldn't be the main event, they could do it. It just sucks to see Angle just arrive on Raw and 1) become number 3 heel on the show now that HBK has turned and 2) lose to HHH because there is no way in hell he's losing for a 4th time in a row on PPV.

    NBA Offseason Stuff

I wonder if the Cavs are going to land ANY decent free agents. If they can't get either Joe Johnson or Redd, I think LeBron bolts as soon as he can (and even if they do sign either, he'll still probrably want out).

    The Bubble Vince lives in

Konnan on WOL this last sunday had an interesting take on the Mexicools in that he said the only Mexicans who Vince probrably knows are the ones who clean his house and care for his grounds. He probrably doesn't know one Latino person that he truly respects. Also noted how MTV and other media outlets have portrayed Latino and African Americans in positions of power whereas WWE is and always will be 5-6 years behind the times. Sounds pretty spot on as far as an accessment goes. Vince and Co. have shown little to refute what Konnan said. It's more disappointment than flat out offensive now. Kind of goes back to the old story of the snake being nursed back to health, only to bite the person helping them and the person wondering why, well you knew it was a snake. We (hardcore fans) know this and shouldn't be surprised anymore. However, If you don't have to go there (meaning playing the race card for cheap heat) then don't go there. But they do it with glee. I find it funny how there was a thread started a couple of days ago about how come WWE's ad rates are half of what other TV shows are. Well, the Mexicools and anything to do with Hassan sure as hell aren't going to change that for the better. Just because it's not offensive to us (hardcore wrestling fans) doesn't mean advertisers and the public in general are going to "get it".

    Projected SummerSlam card

HHH/Angle is going to be hard because it's heel v. heel and I don't see them turning either guy anytime soon. They've done this before at 2001 Royal Rumble, but I'm not so sure it'll work this time. With Hogan and HBK destined to collide at Summerslam now, I think they may end up going with lesser title matches like Cena v. Jericho and Hassan v. Batista as opposed to blowing their load with Cena v. HHH or Taker v. Batista. RVD may or may not be ready by Summerslam, same with Orton.

I didn't really time them, but Batista v. Christian went around 7-10 minutes. Benoit/Booker about the same. Davari/Taker squash was literally a chokeslam and tombstone, so less than a minute. MNM v. Eddy/Rey was about 5-7 minutes as well as JBL/Meanie. Mexicools segment went around 6-7 minutes too.

What's wrong with that? It makes a show fun. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's fun for maybe the first hour or so. But it ceases to be fun to me when it's done about every 2-5 minutes for 4 1/2 hours. BTW, that is not an exaggeration. The TSM crew that was with me can vouch for this.

    Smackdown Spoiler Thread

Well, as reported, NoCalMike, Ced, Darthtiki and I were at this show and since this is the SD! Spoilers thread, I will give you my account of this show... -JBL started the show off with a decent promo. The crowd was still in a bit of shock because of the HBK turn plus the restlessness of them switching to the SD set. When JBL's music and limo interupted him, I thought Batista was going to emerge and do a JBL imitation or something. It was funny because NoCal was sitting at this time not interested at all in this part. Then when I caught Blue Meanie and the bwo, I told NoCal and he finally got up. I'd say only about 10% of the crowd knew who these guys were. The small group who did know were at least very vocal. -Benoit v. Booker was decent, but I just sat there thinking "they are fighting for the right to face ORLANDO JORDAN!?" There is something inherently wrong with that. -MNM v Rey and Eddy was eh. We got great looks at Melina and what little she had on under her dress. Eddy was great in his role and Rey worked his tail off. The mic work and facial expressions by Eddy were great and Eddy recieved some serious heel heat from the crowd throughout the match and during the postmatch interview. Too bad this whole "secret" angle can go nowhere but down. Their feud was fine, why go this route? Another downer is that in the latest Observer, it was said to be Rey's idea for this whole "secret" angle. -The Mexicools stopped a potential Matt Morgan stuttering promo and match, thereby making them my heroes for the night. Sucks that it had to be at the expense of not seeing Regal in ring, but I am not sure Regal could do anything with Morgan. While I hate the stereotyping of the Mexicools gimmick, they make me not hate them because they bring so much energy to what they are doing. They really embrace their roles and just come off like a pack of jackals. I like them. Just hate the presentation. I'd love to see them feud with Eddy and Rey in kind of a "united we stand, divided we fall" theme where the Mexicools try to recruit them, but both say no, and the Mexicools keep beating them down until both men have no choice but to put their differences aside to deal with this new threat. I can still dream, can't I? -Well, I can honestly say that I went against the grain, along with NoCal in being the ONLY people in the entire building cheering for Hassan. While my problems with the whole Hassan angle have been documented here, I just couldn't stand Sac town, being such a mark territory, falling for this jingoistic crap that Vince and Co. pull, so I said screw it and stood up and clapped and cheered for Hassan. Of course, NoCal and my other friend agreed we'd have each others backs in case any drunk yokels got out of line, but no one messed with us. I didn't have a problem with Davairi being squashed because he is not a player. He's cannon fodder. The problem I did have is with the masked terrorists. They looked exactly like the guys who are doing the beheadings in the Middle East. As soon as those guys showed up, I sat down in my seat and just shook my head in shame. I really didn't have a problem with the whole Davairi being carried out bit either. Thing is, there are still people in Iraq being kidnapped and being beheaded and WWE is making light of that. Perhaps if we weren't smack dab in the middle of that kind of problem, I wouldn't be so offended, but since people are still being kidnapped and beheaded, it just sickens me that WWE goes ahead and attempts to make an angle out of it. I didn't like it when "24" did it this year, and I really don't like WWE doing it. After seeing the Mexicools presentation, Hassan, and Chavo "ditching" his roots, it's clear WWE has no clue on race relations. They know only stereotypes and caricatures. -Batista v. Christian was very good. Work was solid and Batista was very much over. He had a good rapport with the crowd and came off like a champion should. I feel bad for Christian because basically he is going to be doing the same thing on SD that he did on Raw=be fed to ME faces. Batista really seemed touched and humbled by the reaction the crowd gave him after cameras stopped rolling. He posed at all 4 corners and at the entrance for about 10 minutes after cameras stopped rolling. I am very much warming up to his new entrance theme song as well. - JBL v. Blue Meanie was awful in the ring. Crowd didn't light up until Richards sickening chair shot and Batista's run in. JBL was busted open badly on top of his head and staggered to the back. I think since he knew he as busted open, they decided to play it up and showed the cameras focusing in on his head wound. Kudos to JBL and Meanie for being able to put aside what was an ugly incident to be able to do a little business together. I am banking JBL, in hindsight, saw what he did was stupid and wouldn't doubt he reached out to Meanie and hooked him up since it was announced the BWO are SD now. (which is even cooler because now Nova can stop being Simon Dean) I bet Vince was Russel Simmons like in squashing the JBL/Meanie beef and let this be a program. That, or Meanie had a helluva court case against WWE and they felt they should just give him a job instead of hassle around in court. -Most annoying thing about this supershow, all the Flair "whoos". Sac town can be such marks sometimes.
