    OK, explain this to me

Actually Raw just started getting the better of SD post WMXX. Before that, everyone here used to suck the SD Cock of workrate. Now SD is fucking atrocious. To add, the brand split just gets more tv time for other guys. The Main Eventers, most of whom are burnt out already save for Benoit and Guerrero, would get stale quicker since there is only one brand, the WWE brand, to watch. The brand split just splits TV time and nothing else. As the numbers have shown, there are no Smackdown only fans or Raw only fans in terms of serious numbers. Sure, some folks only get to watch one show or the other, but most people who watch WWE watch both brands because they are WWE fans and don't distinguish the two brands.

    Backlash Predictions

This is a 2 match show for me. I watch all WWE ppv's at my local sports bar with posters NoCalMike, Ced, and a few non-poster friends. Most of my attention will be focused on whatever NBA playoff game happens to be on while the ppv is going. I refuse to buy another WWE ppv until their has been some serious reform creatively. Anyhoo, I won't comment on snowflake ratings since no one can be sure if great wrestlers will stink it up or if bad wrestlers may step up, but I'll tell you who should win at least. Benoit vs HBK vs HHH: Benoit is the only person who should go over here. There really is no other logical choice. HHH is off for the next 2 months to film a movie and last I heard, HBK was still winging it with a torn ACL. I'm just waiting for him to eventually be relegated to the IL. The scary part is when Benoit is done with this program. Who is he going to feud with? There are no credible heel challengers lined up. Orton vs Foley: Unfortunately, Orton is going over here and we all know it. The problem for me with the 2 matches I even give a shit about is that we all know who is going over in them. I'd like to think a bloody and brutal brawl around the arena will do it, but who knows. I don't think Foley can make people anymore. In the end, Orton beat up an author who hasn't wrestled in 4 years. How are marks supposed to buy into this? As RRR stated in a different thread, this has been one of the better storylines since forever, but that's probrably because Foley's fingerprints are on this and not Gewirtz's. Edge vs Kane: Who cares? I am waiting to see which one ends up getting injured due to carelessness. My money is on Edge. Jericho vs Xtian and Trish: It'll pop the Edmonton crowd, but I don't give a shit. Wow, Jericho gets his revenge. Big fucking shit. I've seen Jericho and Xtian a bunch and while it's not offensive, I don't see anything innovative being done here either. This storyline started off good, but then turned non-sensical when Trish turned. Trish's explanation of why she turned was about as good as Angle explanation of why he turned on Guerrero. Fuck WWE Creative. Victoria vs Lita: Again, I could give 2 shits. It's WWE Women's wrestling. When WWE finally takes them seriously, perhaps I will. Until then, I will take the time during this match to either A) take a shit or piss, B) buy more beer, or C) hit on some waitresses. Either way, I don't think anyone's day will be ruined or made no matter who wins. Shelton vs Flair: Shelton should win. Bottom Line. End of Story. I have no desire to see Flair skyrocket himself towards a wheel chair by working his shriveled up 58-year old ass into oblivion. Ole Anderson was wrong in that Flair worked the same kind of match in the 70's and 80's, but he sure as hell is working the same match for the last year or so. Same old spots. Same chop, chop, chop, figure four formula. Flair doesn't even bother to work the leg anymore to lead into the figure four. Fuck him. Tajiri vs Coach: Lame. This will rank up there with the Redneck games from last year's Bad Blood ppv in terms of entertainment. This does not belong on the show. If Eugene happens to get killed like Kurt Angle did last thursday on SD, that would make the ppv a bit better. The character of Eugene needs to die, now. Fuck Dinsmore for creating such an intelligence insulting character. It's characters like Eugene that make me ashamed when I have to defend them to non-fans. Again, this is a 2 match card and I already know who is going over in the 2 matches I even give a shit about. Yay for me.

OAO Kill Bill Vol. 2 Thread...

I enjoyed this film tremendously and thinking back to Vol 1, makes me appreciate the epic that the movie was intended to be. I just saw the DVD of Vol 1 a day before seeing Vol 2 and it really, really works. Carradine as Bill 0wns all your fucking faces. It's too bad Hollywood is too much a pussy to give him a nom for best actor come Oscar time. Even if this was released later around "Oscar time", the Academy still wouldn't give a nod to a great performance like this because of the movie content. Uma Thurman kicked 88 different types of ass with her performance as well. I really appreciated the slowdown this movie brought as opposed to the breakneck pace of Vol 1. Vol 2 slows the pace down and allows you to appreciate the storyline, the performances, the photography, etc. Sort of like stopping to smell good food baking before you pull it out of the oven to eat. Just a fantastic movie. Now off to see Punisher.

    Austin offcially gone from WWE

I'm happy as pie. I am glad he's out. If he joins up with a promotion in Japan or TNA, I don't care. He was getting stale on WWE. He'd even be stale on SD. I am glad he's gone and hope they don't explain shit. WWE hasn't been good at explaining things very well (Benoit's sudden infatuation with the Raw title, Angle's motivation for turning heel, etc.) lately and they shouldn't try with this.

    Smackdown Rating Drops Again

Quit pushing Bradshaw. Stop "killing" people on TV. It insults the audience's intelligence. It's a start anyway.
  6. April 16th, my ass is in a cineplex to watch the early show. If it's as good as I think it could be, I'll be there again sometime this weekend. Just got done watching Vol. 1 on DVD and it's wet my appetite for the second volume. Post thoughts and feelings here.

    The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

....and now, DA's Eastern Conference First round predictions East Pacers vs Celtics: The Pacers have proved themselves for real this season. They've got the franchise record for wins and have the team that knocked them off and embarassed them last year in the playoffs, the Celtics, in their crosshairs. The Celtics don't have anything new to bring to the table and I think the moves they made only made them a worse team than last year. The only reason the Celts even made the playoffs this year was because the East got worse, not because the Celts were better. I see Indiana giving them some of their wrath and sweep the Celts. DA's prediction: Pacers in 4. Heat vs Hornets: The question that begs to be answered in this series is "who cares?" Both teams have zero chance to make it to the finals. Still, I can see a competetive series coming from these 2 teams. The Heat amazingly have homecourt through this as well. If Dwayne Wade and Lamar Odom lead this team, they can win the series, but I like the Hornets experience and the fact I picked them to win the Central at the beginning of the year and they let me down. Jamaal Magloire is the one I think who makes or breaks the Hornets. I think he'll succeed. I see both teams splitting their home games and then getting wins on each other's courts in games 5 and 6, then the Hornets will pull out the big road win in game 7. DA's prediction: Heat in 7. Bucks vs Pistons: The Bucks are kind of like the Kings of the east (except their last month letdown wasn't as monumentally embarassing) in that they had home court advantage in the fourth spot 2 days ago and now slip to 6th seed and win the privelege of playing the best defensive team in the league this side of San Antonio. The Pistons have a great lockdown defense and an excellent coach in Larry Brown. While I like the depth of the Bucks, a lot of their key guys don't have the playoff experience needed to go anywhere. The Bucks picked a hell of a time to slump in the season, whereas the Pistons have surged since acquiring Rasheed Wallace. I see the Pistons sweeping here. DA's prediction: Pistons in 4. Nets vs Knicks: The health of Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin is only part of the equation as to determining who will win this series. Stephon Marbury is the other part of this equation. If Marbury makes this series about him vs. Kidd, the Knicks will go down in flames. Kidd will use his team to win and isn't stupid enough to get into a shootout with Marbury. If Marbury runs his team like he's supposed to and slows the tempo of the game down, the Knicks have a shot at the upset. The Knicks absolutely have to slow the game down because they cannot run with the deer-like players that fill the lanes for Kidd. The Knicks do have playoff experienced guys, so we'll see what they can do. I see the Knicks splitting the series first 2 games and actually going up 3-1 after 4. I then see the Nets start to gear up and win the next 2 to tie and win in dramatic fashion in a game 7. DA's prediction: Nets in 7. Those are my picks. Choke on it, cause that's how it's going down.

    Fantasy NBA League?

I ended up in fifth place. Not bad for a guy who drafted 16th in a 16 team league. I look forward to competing in next year's TSM Fantasy B-Ball league.

    The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

Here we go. Now that the seeds are settled in, it's time to look into DA's crystal ball and predict where all the series are going. West T-Wolves vs Nuggets: The T-Wolves are not only hell bent on getting KG out of the first round, but are also legit contenders for the title. The Nuggets are making the playoffs for the first time since 1995, when they upset the first seeded Seattle Supersonics. Will lightning strike twice for the Mile High City? Doubt it. I see Minnesota taking the first 2 and splitting the next 2 in Denver and then the wolves will make the kill in 5 games. DA prediction: T-Wolves in 5. Kings vs Mavericks: People are already pegging this as potentially the most entertaining series. Problem is, the Kings haven't been very entertaining, or good for that matter in the last month. The Kings front line is lethargic and ailing. The only way Sac can keep this competetive is to slow down the game and attempt to limit the athleticism factor. The Mavs would be best advised to give the ball to Nowitzki just about every time down the floor since C-Webb the gimp won't be able to cover him. The Mavs will split the first 2 games at Arco and win both games in Dallas. The Kings pride button will click on and they'll stave off elimination in game 5, but will take the Kings out in game 6. DA prediction: Mavs in 6. LA Lakers vs Rockets: The Lakers did themselves a favor and won the Pacific to draw the slumping Houston Rockets instead of the Mavs. Or did they? The Rockets do seem to step their game up a notch when they see the purple and gold across the court. Yao Ming is the only player besides Tim Duncan who can match up legit with Shaq. Karl Malone's last game ankle injury will figure more into later rounds and not here, since all the Rockets power forwards suck. Kobe is playing MVP-like ball, so I see the Lakers taking both games in LA and splitting the next 2 in Houston, before putting down the Rockets in game 5. DA prediction: Lakers in 5. Grizzlies vs Spurs: 2 weeks ago, I had Memphis pegged as one of the more dangerous teams to play in the playoffs. That was before they started slumping badly and the Spurs got hot. The Spurs are playing a serious lock down defense and are putting things together at the right time. The Grizzlies are young and inexperienced in the playoffs. While they do have a lot of talent and athleticism about them, I don't think that will factor too much against a surging defending champ. I'll say the Grizzlies get swept in this series. DA prediction: Spurs in 4. I'll get to my East predictions later on today.

    Smartmarks VGM fantasy league

I have just created a fantasy league on nba.com's webpage. It is called Virtual General Manager. (VGM) for short. It is a fun game that tests your knowledge of players in a fantasy game. You will compete with members in your league and you can see where you stand against everyone playing around the world. If you are lucky, you may even make the illustrious Leaderboard, which means you are one of the top 50 players in the world at the game. The game is different than most fantasy games. There is a rules part on the page, but the gist of the game is this. You are given 100 fantasy points to put together the best team for the day. You will pick one player at each position (PG,SG,C,PF,SF) as well as a coach. Each player in the league has a point value. You have to pick who you believe will get you the most VGM's for that day's games while staying under the 100 point cap. VGM's are the scoring points. VGM's are the sum your players points, rebounds, blocked shots, assists, and steals subtracted from their missed field goal attempts, missed free throws, and turnovers. Give the site (nba.com) a look. I played last year and I was hooked. Here are the specs for joining. League title: SmartMarks Fantasy League Motto: We won't be held back anymore!!! (you don't have to put this in a field, it's just to distinguish in case someone else has the same title) password: tsm4life Hopefully this will link you to the page you need to get started... http://games.espn.go.com/vgm/frontpage Alfdogg and I are in. If you like a fun, alternative fantasy NBA game, sign up and give it a try.

    Stephanie McMahon has more surgery.

^----Quickly becoming my favorite poster. Anyway, back on topic, this thread really should just be closed. It has no purpose other than make fun of Stephanie because she had a nasal infection. And the news was about 1 sentence long, so who know what was clipped from the full version. I agree. Methinks it's time for a mod to move this bad boy.

It's too bad it's not Anal Cavity Surgery. It's her Nostril. Damn. Hey, wait a minute. That must be where Hunter's putting the salami!! Up her nostril!! Duh, that's why the infection. :: slaps knee in bent over laughter ::

    Your Top 5 Favorite.....

In no particular order: Public Enemy: Night of the Living Bassheads NWA: Straight Outta Compton DMX: Stop the Rain Jay-Z: Big Pimpin 2Pac: Brenda's Got a Baby Right outside this 5 is Geto boys: Mind Playin Tricks on Me. It's really hard to do a Top 5, but this is how I feel right now. In a week, my Top 5 could be completely different.

    Stephanie McMahon has more surgery.

I'll admit I overreacted and it was probrably because I know that the procedure is the real deal. In all fairness, it probrably didn't belong here as a topic. It's just that if it was any other female in WWE, I highly doubt there would've been so much speculation as to what the intentions of the surgery would've been. It's a message board, so it's hard to read into the tone of what someone is posting and seeing into whether or not they are just playing around or if someone really wishes a person would die on an operating table.

    Where is Stacy Keibler?

Amen brother Damaramu! Amen. While they are at it, keep Austin's fuckin ass off TV too. Raw has been miles better without him as well.

    Stephanie McMahon has more surgery.

Jesus people, grow the fuck up. I have the Observer and it was for a serious nasal infection. My wife has had a similar procedure. But I guess since it was Steph, it had to be plastic surgery or smoking. It couldn't be anything normal or natural, it had to be something bad because we all think she's the devil. Fucking morons.

    The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

That's if the Lakers end up fourth. There is a scenario where if the Kings lose and the Lakers win tonight, the Kings would be fourth seed and face the Mavs and the Lakers would be second seed and face the Rockets. The way the Kings are playing, I can definitely see this scenario playing out today.

    The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

The Playoff teams are now locked, it's now a matter of positioning and that won't be fully determined until after Wednesday's games. As of right now... East 1-Indiana 2-New Jersey 3-Detroit 4-Milwaukee 5-Miami 6-New Orleans 7-New York 8-Boston The top 3 and Boston are locked in their positions as of today. Positions 4 thru 7 can change. If Detroit faces New Jersey in the second round, Detroit gets home court because they have the better regular season record. West 1-Minnesota 2-Sacramento 3-San Antonio 4-Los Angeles 5-Memphis 6-Dallas 7-Houston 8-Denver Minnesota and Sacramento control their own destiny. If both win their final games, they stay in their position. Sacramento could face a similar situation as New Jersey if San Antonio finishes better than them, yet Sac gets the 2nd seed. The Lakers would need to win their final 2 games and have Sac and SA lose out to get homecourt over those 2 teams. SA can still get top seed if they win their final game and Minn. loses it's final game. Dallas and Memphis are also undecided as both teams share the same record, but they will likely swap places as Dallas leads Memphis right now in the third quarter. Houston and Denver are locked into their current positions. Next 2 days will be very interesting.

    Possible Summerslam Location Revealed

Even if WWE chose to have Summerslam at Tropicana Field, I don't think they could fill up that many seats without some serious papering. The product is definitely not hot and I don't see WWE doing that kind of business for an event not named Wrestlemania.

    The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

The Spurs and Lakers do come off like the favs because they have won the last 5 championships. The Pacers don't face near the comp that the other 2 teams do in the tough West. (I don't buy into the West teams beating up on each other and then an East team pounces on them theory) The T-Wolves haven't been past the first round, so know one knows how they'll react if and when they get out of round one this year. The Kings and Mavs don't play enough defense to be considered as threatening as they have been the last 2 years. Once the playoff picture becomes crystal clear in the next few days, I'll give my team by team predictions.

    The Girl Next Door

This statement also applies to Walking Tall. I just snuck into it today and Choken's words perfectly describe Walking Tall. (I know I am going off topic) I wouldn't recommend sneaking into Walking Tall. It's that bad. Now if The Girl Next Door is as bad or worse than Walking Tall, then you already have your 2 worse movies of the year within a week of each other.

The OaO 2003-2004 NBA Season Thread!

The Kings are fucked! The sad part is that while it's true they have problems with athletic teams, the problem is about 90% mental with this team, along with some flat out laziness. It has disgusted me to watch this team the last 2 games and if I were to pick a first round upset in the playoffs I'd look no further than whoever matches up with the Kings. Their defense is non existent and with the exception of Brad Miller, show no desire to hit the boards. This is all coming from a Kings fan mind you. My preseason pick to win it all was LA and it still is unfortunately. As much as I hate them, I have a hard time seeing any team beating them 4 out of 7 times. They have 4 guys who are going to get calls down the stretch, 3 of whom can actually make something of the calls by hitting free throws (that's directed at you, Shaq). The Pacers should feel good about getting homecourt throughout, but I like Rasheed Wallace going to Detroit and with the lockdown defense Detroit has exhibited, I like Detroit to go to the finals. DA's NBA Finals prediction: LA Lakers over Detroit Pistons in 6 games. DA's wish: It WAS for the Kings to win it all, now I just want them to get out of the first round so that this year isn't a complete and thorough embarassment.
