I'll get shit for this, but I can't stand Steve Martin or Robin Williams. Robin Williams "look at me, I have attention deficit disorder" act wore me out 15 years ago. I really find the fucker creepy. I honestly think he is the most overrated comedian right now. He is doing Jim Carrey's act, but he's much too old and it comes off as shoved down my throat instead of, oh I don't know, funny. Steve Martin is hit and miss with me, a lot more misses (Cheaper by the Dozen, anyone) than hits (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).

I prefer Marlboro Menthol Milds. For me, they are just right. I used to be a Newport guy and sometimes when that's the only kind available in a machine when I need a smoke, I'll get it. However, they are a bit too harsh after awhile. The Marlboro Menthol Mild is just the right blend of menthol and tobacco for me.

Interesting note from the Velocity preview

You are wrong on that one, AS. London is a contracted WWE worker. He'll be working at the souveneir stand. -
How will they explain Brock's leave on Smackdown?

Reform the ECW brand into what exactly? Vince only knows how to do wrestling one way. There are a lot of delusions of grandeur around here thinking Vince is just gonna let Heyman run a splinter promotion by himself. Vince is a control freak and he won't ever let someone like Heyman have that much power. I think it's a stupid idea because Vince will run it exactly like WWE, and another one of those is exactly what wrestling doesn't need. It needs a person with a completely different vision from Vince who doesn't have to answer to him. You are all on crack if you think a Vince McMahon-owned, Vince McMahon-run ECW promotion will succeed. -
How about the first man to score a 3 count or submission on the other man CLEANLY be declared the winner?

Credit wrestlingobserver.com website: "While this won't put a stop to any rumors, despite what we've been writing all along, Bret Hart in Sunday's Calgary Sun, will have this on Mania. "I'll be watching, but I won't be there. Let's just leave it at that, for now." He also made a special point of wishing Chris Benoit luck in his biggest career match." People, let it die. He ain't showing up. WWE would've promoted it to attempt to spike the buyrate a little. Bank it right here, DA guarantees Bret Hart will not make a live appearance at WMXX.
-
What won't be shown on TV or the DVD is that "The Mania" is actually wrestlers roid rage.
-
..And God bless you for that. Fuck 1Bob. Even if a little under half of their shit is correct, the popups still piss me off to no end.
-
DING DING DING DING DING!!! I've been preaching that for months. That idea isn't going to get play around these parts though. Smarks still think Vince is gonna push the cruisers seriously or something along those lines.

Here are some WWE bits from the brand spanking new 3/1 Observer -With Rock's return imminent, people are anticipating the reaction he'll be getting since the belief is they've set the table perfectly for his return with the Mick Foley angle with Evolution leading to their tag match against Orton and Batista. -The negatives going into Mania are the health of Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. Shawn has a torn ACL and Ric Flair has been off TV recently because he is far more injured than he is letting on. Flair has been working through an as yet undiagnosed neck injury and has a variety of back injuries. He's had both a CATSCAN and MRI done the last week, but both were inconclusive about his neck problems, which are believed to either be a ruptured C-8 disc or severly pinched nerve. -Rock's return is scheduled for a surprise appearance on 3/1. If a story in a Samoan newspaper is true, he may have something of a different look. According the Samoa Observer, Rock will be getting the dangerous and traditional Samoan chief tattoos and actually should have them by the time you read this. It's a painful process that covers much of the lower half of his body. His grandfather, Peter Maivia, also underwent the tatoos as part of a ceremony. Samoa's leading tatoo artist, Suluape Petolo, left on 2/18 to do the job that takes several days and is exceedingly painful since no anesthetic is used. The tatoo is a traditional Samoan design from the waist to the knees using a multi-pronged needle tapped by a piece of wood to pierce the skin. Blood loss is a constant in the procedure, and there have been people who have died of infections in the process. -Foley instructed Orton to bust his eye hardway during the 2/16 angle/beatdown. Orton had no experience doing so, so it was really risky because of the risk of effecting one's vision. Busting the bone above the eye with a bare knuckle shot is something old time wrestlers used to do for believability, but hasn't been a big part of the business since the 70's. The eye didn't get discolored after the beating, but as Foley likely wanted to, since the angle has been his creation from the start. Foley did an interview with Coach midweek, but Vince hated it so much he wouldn't let it air. He called Foley back a few days later and had Jim Ross do the second interview which aired. Foley is unique in that he didn't want to use makeup for the angle, but nowadays, when you can do it with makeup, is it really worth risking your eyesight when 75-90% of the audience thinks it's makeup anyways? -WWE has talked about expanding to 14 PPV's a year and they've scheduled shows 2 weeks apart in June. This is an experiment. -Upcoming PPV's are SD only Judgment Day from Staples Center on 5/16, which Meltz is guessing will be headlined by Guerrero vs Angle in a rematch if they can carry it that far. The program at this point isn't supposed to end at Mania. Like with San Francisco, the approach is going to heavily market the show to the Hispanic audience and put both Guerrero and Mysterio in top positions. 6/13 Badd Blood is all Raw and will be from Freedom Hall in Louisville. If 6/27 takes place, it will be an all SD show from Norfolk, VA. -Bret Hart and Vince McMahon spoke on 2/20 to get Mania settled. Hart declined doing the show, so that should put an end to to those rumors. They left things open as to doing something in the future. Meltz thinks it has been inevitable for some time that Hart would at some point make one appearance on WWE television, but he can't imagine him ever coming back for a storyline. -As was expected, Bruno Sammartino officially turned down the invitation to do the Hall of Shame...er...I mean Fame. -Sources from New Line Cinema have said they are high on HHH and he will be offered significant movie work in the future. Even thought HHH has gotten positive praise from both the director and from those in New Line about his work on Blade:Trinity, he was not listed as one of the eight listed leads in the moview, which is scheduled for 8/13 release. -There has been talk of using Jericho in the Freddy vs Jason sequel, but it's far from a done deal. There is now interest in Eddy Guerrero. If the ratings after his winning the title support him as a mainline ratings player, it would help his case. -Goldberg began shooting "Santa's Slay". His new look with the bushy grey beard is for the movie role. Mania is still scheduled as Goldberg's last day. Meltz is guessig there is a plan to have Austin Stun Goldberg on the way out just to do it. Since Austin and Goldberg are friends, there isn't going to be any problems doing this. Dropping it into an incinerator, hopefully. That DVD looks way lame. geniusmoment had it right when he said WWE has no DVD's on the horizon that are interesting. I wouldn't even download the Cena DVD for free and refuse to give WWE Revisionist History...uh...I...mean Monday Night Wars DVD any money whatsoever.

A jealous, psychotic, coward of a heel who doesn't draw. If it's not working for Brock, why would it work for Kurt. I don't like "puritan" Kurt because it's like a step backwards for his character. I felt in the last year he had evolved from his 3 I's schtick. I felt Kurt's character was more fresh and that's what Kurt's character needs. A tweeking here and there so he's fresh. Not going back to 2000 Kurt where he is basically screaming "I am a high midcarder with no upward growth, so why invest any time or emotion in my character or storyline!" Will the Eddy/Kurt feud generate good matches? They should. Will it draw any money seeing as there are giant plot holes to the storylines and characters? Doubtful.

Billy Gunn. I just know it.

If you take a gander at my post with the 3/1 Observer notes, you'll see that Flair isn't competing in the ring anytime soon. Oh, and by the way... Fuck Hulk Hogan. He needs to stay the fuck away from WM. Again, he is out for no one but himself and will only look to steal the thunder from guys like Angle, Guerrero, Benoit, Lesnar, and others who need to have the WM spotlight on them. Hogan's had his fair share of Mania spotlight. The shrivled up, orange piece of shit needs to concentrate more on trying to get his daughter to be the next Britney Spears than stealing heat from guys at WM.

I'll get around to that tonight sometime. Just for you, Bobo.

Scary, but true. Russo's gags are mind-numbingly dumb. Steph and the gang of monkeys they have now aren't much better, but Russo is the pits. I'm sorry. I see no positive with Vince Russo. Sure, he had a good formula when Vince was editing him and toning him down, but now that Russo has had a taste of being on screen and being the head guy (WCW, TNA) I don't think he'd stand for Vince's editing anymore. His ego is too big now.
-
Even if some of the storyline came from Steph, Vince still has to approve it before it makes itself on TV. Obviously Vince approves of perverted storylines and in fact was the one who came up with and enforced the Kane/Katie Vick storyline. Being as that is the most perverted storyline to date along with the "I pimped my daughter to business associates" deal, My vote goes to Vince being a huge pervert.
-
Match quality would be where I am most concerned regarding Russo. Russo favored way shorter matches so he could churn out a few extra non wrestling skits. Sure, it got middle and undercard guys more time to try to get over, but as niko pointed out, when the stories go no where, then the product looks dumb. He changed a lot of guys characters and current storylines arcs just so he could put his vision out there. Unfortunately, Russo's vision of wrestling actually has very wrestling in it. Russo's vision of wrestling is like GLOW and ECW rolled into one.

I was actually a little disappointed in this. The problem for me was the main character and his best friend. I didn't feel the main character's pursuit enough. His best friend needed to be Stifler-like in his approach and instead was subtle and laid back. While I can see how that can work for some people, it just didn't work for me. DA's grade: C+

Kane vs Taker won't be a match. It'll be an Industrial Light and Magic show since we've had lightning hit the ring and rain indoors presented to us before the actual Undertaker himself. God, this feud gets more retarded by the minute.

I agree with a bad ass Kurt as well. Dork heel Kurt doesn't draw. We all know this. (unfortunately, Cena didn't get the memo since he treated Angle like a dork on SD) The turn was wonderfully done this thursday. Now if we can just get everyone to forget about Kurt/Eddy from end of December to the SD Rumble, everything works out in the end for me and the small group of naysayers. WWE has no problem forgetting past history, why can't the smarks here do it as well seeing as the storyline fits better when you do it?

Good for Bruno as well. He doesn't owe Vince Jr fucking shit. If Bruno is holding a grudge because he didn't push his son David, then that's on Bruno. Personally, I think Bruno lives in a time capsule and doesn't like what Vince Jr did to the WWF/E. If Bruno chooses to not move on with the times, that's up to him. With that said, why should Bruno want to be in a WWE Hall of Fame in the first place? WWE will just shit on it anyways. You hear all the people afraid as soon as they introduce this thing that it's just a stepping stone to get Evolution or some angle over. Why should Bruno want to be a part of that? If Bruno is there and accepts an induction, he's endorsing it and allowing a part of himself to be privy to the future shitting on that we all know will happen with a concept like the Hall of Fame. WWE holds nothing sacred. Why should Bruno think this is any different? It's not like Vince Jr has done anything to convince him or any of the fans otherwise. What, because it's WMXX? Please.

This isnt an example of no-sell, but rather me being disappointed in a great worker's selling during a match. Chris Jericho in his tag match w/Christian against Batista and Flair a few weeks ago. This was when Kane had destroyed Jericho's leg earlier in the show and Jericho could barely walk in the ring. During the match, Jericho was still doing flippity do offense and shit from the top rope and selling AFTER he completed his move. He'd limp around, execute a move requiring his legs like when he attempted a lionsault and landed on both feet after Flair moved. Then about 2 seconds later would start limping around. Now I know that Jericho doing that is better than a lot of guys sell jobs, but it's the fact that he's Chris Jericho that irked me. He's a smarter worker than that and the injured leg should effect his offense WHEN HE EXECUTES, not doing the move perfectly and then selling. Shit, Test can fucking do that.

Nail. on. the. head. Wrestling is show and tell. There is no room for assuming. If you go that route, it goes over 98% of the wrestling fans heads and when that happens, they stop caring. When they stop caring, you end up with fans who sit on their hands while 2 of the best workers wrestle a great match in silence until the finish because they could give 2 shits about the match except that it's ending. Keep feeding the fans that and then they stop watching and paying and... ...oh right, that's already fucking happening.
