No it was the fact that they stopped making money, period. They had huge contracts to fulfill from 97-99 and they made enough money to keep those and be profitable. They were done in by one fundamental problem. They stopped making money. The tv and ppv budgets started costing more than what the company was bringing in as money flow, so they ended up in the hole. Watch, if TNA or WWE go under, it won't be because of contracts. I will be because the company stopped making money.

WWE would love to do Lesnar vs Goldberg, but that will only happen if Goldberg agrees to job clean, which he won't. Yeah, that'll get everyone to believe we are separate brands. I bet they'll still promo Raw ppv's on SD and SD ppv's on Raw. Wow, what a separate brand. I remember when WWF used to promote Starcade in December for WCW and also remember WCW running ads for WWF whenever Wrestlemania used to come around.... ....oh wait, that NEVER HAPPENED! Again, no one, not even marks believe the product is really split. Look at the numbers. The same fans watch both shows. If there really was an illusion that both brands were separate, one of the shows would've pulled ahead in ratings and buyrates by now. When you adjust the numbers knowing that SD is available in more homes, you'll see that both shows are even. That's because they haven't created a real separate brand. Smarks just don't bitch about SD as much because the roster is heavy with smark favorites, so for smarks it really does seem like a separate promotion. Too bad 98% of the fans still here (aka the Marks) don't believe in the split. WWE hasn't given them any reason to believe that things are different. Both shows have GM's and/or Vince in really high profile roles that are more important than even ME'ers. Both shows have dueling authority figure feuds (Raw=Austin vs Bisch, SD=Vince vs Steph) Until Piper was let go, both shows had talk show segments (Raw=Jericho highlite reel, SD=Piper's pit) and so on. Both shows also have watered down world titles that no one cares about any more. Bottom line: Raw=SD

I'll put this in wrestling speak... In terms of promos and entertainment, my nod goes to Bugs and Daffy. This is the equivalent of Stone Cold vs The Rock. In terms of workrate, I'd go with Wile E. Coyote vs Road Runner. This would be like a good cruiserweight feud like Jericho vs Dean Malenko from WCW or something.

If the split created new stars, I wouldn't say end it. But the brand split has created exactly one star. (Brock) Cena and Orton aren't over enough to headline a ppv without it blowing entirely. Cena headlined Backlash with Brock, but that ppv was sold on Rock vs Goldberg. Cena is not a draw. I don't see how ending the brand split would be bad for business. Business wasn't hurt before the split and that was a good year after WCW folded. Business wasn't in the toilet then. I bet it wouldn't be all that effected now.

Why don't they just end the brand split? It's obvious it isn't working and no new fans have been created. The current fan base doesn't believe that they are separate brands. The brand split is foolish. People here will say "No, cause then my favorites won't get air time and all the shows will have is HHH". Wrong, the shows will be filled with the uselessness that is the GM/Authority figure/Matchmaker roles. You will end up seeing a ton of whoever is in that role because WWE doesn't know how to come up with a different writing format. Just end the brand split. No one will know the difference anyways.

Actually, his stuff from New Japan wasn't that bad. He's still very young though. If you are going from his stint in TNA and WJ, then I could see where you think he is awful though.

I've said it more than once here in this thread. NO ONE PAYS MONEY TO WATCH NON WRESTLERS TALK AND MAKE MATCHES!!! They do not draw. They are a relic of the Russo days. Since the creative team is too lazy to change the booking template, we are stuck having these non competing people have all the shows and storylines revolve around them. It's no wonder no one can get over. All the major action is revolved around the non wrestlers instead of the wrestlers. Again, when was the last time a mark or smark came up to you and said, " I am shelling out $35.00 to see what Austin is going to tell Bischoff this monday". No one pays to see them, yet they are booked to be important. WWE creative needs to stop this. This is one of the greatest fundamental problems WWE has RIGHT NOW!!!

Anyone with Finley, Jamison, and Walker have to be pissed because they are going to lose minutes and stats to each other. I'm not saying they will be totally worthless, but their value does change since people were under the impression that these guys were going to come with x-amount of stats. Nowinzki and Nash's numbers won't really take too much of a hit because Dirk is the #1 guy on the team and Nash runs the point and can get touches when he feels like it.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the Mavs gave up an average of 125 points to their opponents. Seriously, the Mavs still haven't a clue on how to play D and the Twans squared aren't known as defensive gems either.
