Q-Rich has not had a good year. Brother is killed plus he and Brandy split up earlier this year. Sucks to be him.

    WON questions

If I were you, I'd try the one month deal and see if you like it. I'll give you some positives and negatives. Positives - Best source for inside news and analysis of pro wrestling. Covers everything including, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, TNA, ROH, Indies. - End of the Year issue as well as his obituary/life of... are very good issues. Meltz eulogizes very well and while it sucks to be him, he does take on this morbid task very well. - Is a good source for analysis of the business side of pro wrestling and MMA. Negatives -Print is very small. I have good eyes, so this isn't too much of a problem, but I can see other people having issues with this. - He'll sometimes get a little MMA heavy if it's a slow news week. (if you don't like MMA, I do though) - His ratings for matches and opinions can get whacky. Not so much underrating matches as he does overrate quite a bit. As long as you don't take his opinions as scripture (I always encourage individual thought) and get it for the news and inside stuff and come to your own conclusions (Meltz's inside sources are usually spot on) than I think you'd enjoy it. My two cents.

    WWE Wants Shelton Benjamin's "Mama"

Great idea in regards to the "strong-willed, sharply-dressed, intelligent, shrewd, successful Black businesswoman in the mold of Oprah Winfrey or a competent version of Condaleeza Rice" type character they should do. But this is WWE Creative. Gotta have Sheldon shucking and jiving, you know. God forbid they break a stereotype.

WON Notes for Dec 6th issue

Eddie wasn't drunk during the Angle incident, but his so called sobriety has come into question. Depends on your definition of sobriety I guess but if your definition is completely not using painkillers and alcohol, then Eddie was not.

    WWE Wants Shelton Benjamin's "Mama"

Honestly, we should wait and see if they pull the trigger on this, but if they do, then just, fuck. They looked to be doing a perfectly slow build to a heel turn last monday and then this news breaks. Just, shit man. Maybe Shelton can secure a release and wait the 90 days or whatever before WWE permanently fucks up his career.

    The Observer's Eddie Guerrero Story

One fascinating part of the article was about Eddie's training. Eddie and Mando were trained to shoot on each other for 20 minutes before they were allowed to do worked matches so that they would have a better feel of what a real fight/match is like. This should be mandatory for any pro wrestling training IMO. Also the learning to throw a worked punch by having Eddie hit a brick wall deal was very interesting. (shout out to the Danger Zone)

12/3 Ratings and a surprise at TP

I don't know if the timeslot would be Monday head to head, but I could see Turning Point being the announcement of a weekday prime time slot and the debut of someone like Charlie Haas. Lesnar and Jericho are too big a name to squander on a surpise pop. Guys like that should be advertised ahead of time to take advantage of curiosity buys. Haas isn't at that level and can debut without hype.

    This week in the NBA

It's weird because while Brand has raised scoring average 5 points from his career average, his other numbers are the same across the board. Winning gets you noticed and right now it's not out of line to mention Brand in the same breath as Garnett and Duncan.

Rudo, that doesn't work because it requires more than 5 seconds of thought and we all know Creative doesn't do that.

TNA fans better hope to God it's a better time slot. They'll lose their ass if they tour. Pro wrestling as a whole is cold and it would be monumentally stupid to tour right now. Wait until the market heats up and then put yourself out there.

The OAO Raw Thread - Dec/5th/05

I thought the Edge segment was great as well, but I wanted him to go further and make Hayes and/or Sarge bleed. It's weird in that I wasn't mad or offended that they brought up Gordy. I was numb to it. The exploitation of Eddie on last Tuesday's SD Special was way, way worse, so that numbed me up to this. WWE using death to further angles is now par for the course. How sad is that?

12/3 Ratings and a surprise at TP

As stated by many in the "10 things I'd change in TNA right now" thread, TNA should shave down to 6-8 ppv's a year. The ppv market is too saturated right now. MMA (UFC in particular) is on the rise, boxing is always gonna be there, and WWE has 180,000 or more buys for their monthly ppv's. TNA isn't established enough yet to keep up the pace of a ppv a month and still be profitable. They need to get out of this mentality that if you are a pro wrestling company, that you need to be running a ppv a month. Just because WWE can do it and be successful, doesn't mean that success will translate to you.

12/3 Ratings and a surprise at TP

This sounds like hyperbole by Carter. I'm not sure what the announcement is, but it may not even be a talent acquisition. That said, I'm predicting a 0.8 for this Thursday's iMPACT.

    AJ Styles

TNA has always said the X Division and Heavyweight titles are supposed to be seen as the same level, but as long as Jarrett is Heavyweight champ, that will never be the case because he won't feature it as such. Here is something to think about. This sunday at Turning Point, realistically AJ vs Joe should go on last because it's the best match on paper, but Jarrett vs Rhino will probrably go on last. Now, the X Division title match went on last at the Sept PPV, but TNA didnt' have the SPike TV show then. Now that they have the national TV show, you can bet that the Heavyweight title match goes on last because Jarrett, who wields as much power in this company than at any other time before, will not be seen as a secondary player even though he is not a main event player in the eyes of many. If TNA lets AJ/Joe go on last, kudos to them, but I doubt it. Message to the fans in Orlando, if Jarrett/Rhino goes on last, leave the building. Send a message. I'd like to think that would show Dixie Carter and Co. that Jarrett isn't right for the top spot.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Does anyone even know that iMPACT is on Thursday this week instead of Saturday? I think the latest iMPACT advertised it once or twice during the show, but I haven't seen much more. I know that they are getting advertising for the show in USA Today either today or tommorrow's edition as well as a segment on ESPN 2's Cold Pizza on Thursday. I am not sure if that will be enough. I heard that Jeff Jarrett wasn't too pleased that the A.J. Pierzynski thing got over somewhat to the mainstream audience and that he's mad because AJ Styles is getting the rub off of this and not him. I can see Jeff Jarrett weaseling his way into the angle somehow at Turning Point so that if there is any footage makes it's way on ESPN or other media outlets, Jarrett's mug will be right there, front and center.

The OAO Raw Thread - Dec/5th/05

My God was it bad. I heard on a recent OVW TV that CM Punk did the frog splash in a match as a tribute to Eddy and it was actually worse than Chavo's, believe it or not.

10 things I would do to TNA right now

The cables used in place of ropes is a good thing for TNA because it helps the smaller, X Division flier types to spring off of. The traditional ropes WWE still uses is not good for fliers and such. It's why guys like Shelton and RVD screw half their spots up and why Rey modified his style to where he only does a small handful of moves off the ropes because he knows he can execute them safely. (also, Mysterio is on SD and in the years, they've edited the shit out of a ton of Mysterio matches because he screwed up springboard rope moves) As far as the ring being smaller, that helps and hurts. It helps, because TNA doesn't have a ton of big guys and so it helps with the visual of seeing small guys in a big ring. Take a look at how awkward it looks when the cruiserweights are in the huge WWE ring. As a visual, it hurts. Where it hurts is, TNA does indeed have a small amount of big guys like Abyss, Billy Gunn, and Kevin Nash. It doesn't look as good when those guys are in a small ring and bouncing off of cables. Still, the six sided ring doesn't bother me. If it went away, I wouldn't cry either, but they should stick with a WCW smaller type ring with cables to keep the fliers in the air.

    Mr. Kennedy.....injured

This could be a blessing in disguise as Kennedy was starting to get his push scaled back some because he was recently relegated back down to Velocity duty and had not been featured prominently on SD the last couple of weeks. Hopefully when he comes back, they'll let him do more than just the Kennedy......Kennedy bit and actually give him some lines and character motivation because I've seen him in OVW and his OVW character kicks his WWE character's ass.

The OAO Raw Thread - Dec/5th/05

Raw was not as terrible as it has been in recent weeks and had some funny moments to it. Good for them they don't have a ppv for the Raw brand until January and they can afford to do a throwaway show like this. I say throwaway because I could give a rats ass if Bischoff gets fired or not and could give a rats ass who replaces him in the archaic role of GM, which surely needs to die. The Angle/Carlito vs HBK/Shelton match was going along fine EXCEPT the finish. Can they make Shelton look like more of a jobber by having him get pinned by him missing a flying cross body? I'm also of the belief that Carlito not using or having a finisher must be a rib or something. I put the blame on management and creative for Carlito not having and using a finisher, not Carlito. Carlito has little to no say on finishes. Therefore, creative gets the blame. I refuse to believe Carlito cannot execute a finisher. The court skits were mindless fun. The less said about them, the better. If I wanted to, I could get all nit picky and tear the skits down, but they actually brought a smile to my face in some spots, so I won't. Although, since I work in a law office, I'll say it's funny that Vince said Masters perjured himself on the stand because of his last name when not one of the witnesses was sworn in. There, I had to get that one out. Surprising lack of heat for Chavo. There were some spots where they chanted for Eddie and there was one Chavo chant, but that match was wrestled in damn near silence. Kind of sad. Maria was great in the courtroom skit, as was Foley, who was gold busting out moon pies and RC Cola. The Boogeyman segment was funny because of the reactions to him, not for the Boogeyman himself. Was I the only one disturbed by Stephanie's testimony of "Eric Bischoff impersonated my father and then violated me"? You can draw your own conclusions to that one. Speaking of Steph, that was an awkward moment with Vince introducing Steph to HHH bit. I just didn't know what to make of that. I get that they were playing off ex husband and wife awkwardness and such, I just don't know where they are going with it. Forgot where I read this, but wrestling is best when it has simple storylines with subtle complexities. An example of this would be Shelton and HBK. Assuming it's going to be a Shelton heel turn, it's being done well. They are slowly getting there and you can see little things building to get there and hopefully there will be a grand payoff. With the Steph-HHH bit, where is it going? Are they going to forget they are married in real life. Are they forgetting that they were married at all? Did Vince forget he headlined a ppv 6 years ago against HHH for Stephanie's honor? Are we going to get a McMahon/Helmsley II regime? (God, I hope not) Instead, they just stared at each other awkwardly and then the segment ended. Again, the show itself wasn't bad. The wrestling wasn't very good, but since they aren't in full NYR hype mode, they doled out some good comedy. Some intentional, some not intentional. All in all, a very entertaining show, just not an entertaining wrestling show.

    OAO 12/3 TNA Impact! Thread

Actually, Dutt has been just as murdered by Joe as Aries was. Bentley is still protected though. I'm not a huge Dutt fan and it's not because I think the sprinkler bit he does is fucking retarded. A lot of his spots are very risky and by risky, I don't mean he is going to kill someone. I mean Dutt's spots are either going to look spectacular or crash and burn and expose the business.

    Smackdown Spoilers

Those Orton/Taker segments are a WrestleCrap inductee waiting to happen as well as another episode in which to hide away and watch in hopes non fans don't catch me watching. Someone should compile moments like the Orton/Taker bits from SD and make a "Why I'm embarassed to watch" music video as a contrast to the kick ass "Why I watch" music videos made by Maynard awhile ago.

    OAO 12/3 TNA Impact! Thread

Currently, no. I think it'd be good because it would give Haas a hook and something to invest in him right off the bat. Off the subject a little bit, I was digging Alex Shelley's work in the 4 way and think he will have a huge year in TNA if he keeps up. The camera thing is indyriffic, but if he can tweak it a little and keep up with his awesome lucha-like submissions along with a great knack for some comedy work, I see Shelley breaking into the upper echelon of TNA's X Division and could easily see him take the number one heel spot in the X Division around this time next year. (if TNA is still in business)
