Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy Orton

Perhaps Morgan Freeman will chauffer him around town as Jessica Tandy Orton in Driving Miss Daisy

If some workrate has to be sacrificed in order to get guys over, then I think it's worth it. Also, while a lot of the guys mentioned like Rhino, Raven, Team 3D, Sabu are ex ECW guys, it doesn't mean that Heyman necessarily has some allegiance to them and will push them to the top. He'd probrably throw them a bone and keep them on TV, but I'd like to think he's smart enough to recognize that the money isn't in pushing them, it's pushing the younger talent that hasn't even been given a chance to get over beyond in ring work.

End of this year. Here is the situation. Stephanie McMahon and Brian Gerwitz want Heyman out and feel he isn't worth shit. Heyman is being paid $250,000 a year currently to write OVW TV. He will never be back on the writing team and will never have any of his ideas taken seriously because Steph and Gerwitz hate him so much. Vince, who is cost cutting, is going to have a hard time justifying paying someone so much to work in OVW. However, Vince also knows the potential threat Heyman can become if he goes to TNA and doesn't have to worry about the business end of wrestling. Vince is sort of in a pickle in that sense because he would essentially pay out of the ass just to keep a guy away from competition that is not doing well lately. Heyman may not even want to do pro wrestling after his contract runs out. Word is Heyman may try to write in Hollywood or start up his own MMA organization or try to get in with a current one like UFC (which is the long shot of all his options, but he has fallen in love with MMA of late). Another problem Heyman may run into in TNA is the same one that he has in WWE in that he may not be given full creative control and will (not if) BUTT heads with Jeff Jarrett and probrably other members of their booking committee. We'll soon see.

Big Show/Rey match is to test if Rey can get over as a credible threat to the title now that Eddie is gone. My problem with this is Big Show was just playing face last night against HHH on Raw and tonight he's going to heel up on SD. I know some people will justify it as he is a different person on each show, but that is not very plausible and goes outside my suspension of disbelief. I should probrably take this argument to the tweeners thread, but oh well.

Colt Cabana would be a good edition. If they let him talk, he might actually get over as well. However, since he can work and isn't one of the former WWF/Eer's, he'll be put in the workrate...er.. X Division and kept out of the personality...er..Heavyweight Division. I'd do whatever it took to get the Rottweilers in as a group. I'm not sure what Low Ki did to burn his bridge there, but unless it was a criminal act I'd bring in Homicide, Ki, and Smokes and let them terrorize the X Division. Julius Smokes NEEDS to be on TV. He's just so good and charismatic. Just run chaotic and shit. I mean borderline getting kicked out of Universal Studios type shit. That's just me though. If they are still looking for heavy's, I'd take a shot at Matt Morgan and maybe have a look at some of the All Japan gaijin like Jamal. I'd still want to avoid too much of a WWE Reject stigma in TNA since they already have plenty of that riff raff. I'd also take AmDrag Bryan Danielson. Nothing but good can happen when you have a talent like that around. Sure, he is deemed "unmarketable", but to me, that might be why he works out. He's unique. No one is pastier or whiter except Brother Ray. Yes, that is my plea for them to get out into the sun. But also, Danielson brings an intensity in his matches that is different than the usual X Division fare and I feel he'd be the perfect guy to help educate the fans that the ground game can be just as exciting as the aerial one. Above all of this, the number one person that TNA absolutely needs to acquire if they can is Paul Heyman. I'm not saying that because I'm this huge ECW mark or anything, but Paul Heyman knows how to properly promote pro wrestling. He involves you and is in touch with the outside world, unlike a lot of bookers who live in a pro wrestling bubble. Heyman has been writing OVW for the last few months, so he knows how to work within a one hour format. He would give the X Division guys the personalities they so desperately need right now, as well as give everyone else motivation for us (the fans) to give a shit about them. This cannot be understated, but Paul Heyman is the most important potential acquisition that TNA can make in the next year. More important than any wrestler available right now besides maybe The Rock.

Actually, this is a good idea except I think he'd get more heat if he ditched his dad after a big win. A loss makes Randy justified in what he's doing. If he ditches his dad after a win, it makes him look stronger because he now feels he can go it alone and it shows he doesn't appreciate his dad's help and rewards him with an RKO for it.

Raven, Hardy, and Konnan are disciplinary issues for sure, which is why they are on the borderline. If Waltman didn't have the relationship with HHH and Vince that he has and didn't flake, he'd be a keeper. Too bad that is not the case. I probrably was a little hard on Prime Time, but I just haven't seen him grow as a wrestler beyond a spot machine, and not a good one at that. Kip and BG don't work for me period. They gotta go if you ask me.

Since Flair's DVD has matches AND killer promos, it rates just a little better than Bret's. Flair also has a better match selection as I was a little disappointed at Bret's selections, particularly the tag team matches on Disc 1. I'd put Bret's DVD as a whole second to Flair's. I actually like the ECW DVD Feature better than Bret's, but the Bret DVD has better matches, so it gets the nod.

Holy shit, he really said that? LOL Who would be the weak link of the Fox Pre Game show? Howie, Jimmie, TB, or JB?
-
Wow, this thread really got out of hand fast. Yes, I'm thinking of Anchorman when I said that.

Since it's only WWF/E, I go with the following in no particular order... Hogan/Andre Savage/Steamboat Savage/Hogan Hart/Michaels Hart/Austin Austin/McMahon Austin/Rock Bruno/Superstar Hogan/Piper Bruno/Zybszko

I think he's trying to use HBK's borderline gay look thinking it'll get him over and not remembering that really only HBK can make that look work while Kip just looks foolish.

I just don't see the value in the people you think have name value. I'd rather take my chances creating stars from the good workers and giving them mic and interview time to get over and become personalities versus using the "established" stars for some kind of rub. Just my take. edit: looking at your list, Carnival, it isn't too far off of mine, although I have more cuts. Methinks you got offended because I put Jeff Jarrett on my cut list. I wouldn't mind Jarrett on the roster if he wouldn't mind taking a spot that wasn't in the main event, but since Jarrett would probrably not be down for that, I would cut him.
-
Very much agreed. I'd rather watch the CBS pre game show (Gumbel, Marino, Sharpe, Esiason) and they are pretty bad. I can't stand Tom Jackson. It's not even how he handled the Rush thing, but it's so blatantly obvious that he has a bias against the Redskins because they handed him his ass in the Super Bowl in '88.

New ESPN Rankings... 1. Pistons 2. Mavericks 3. Spurs 4. Grizzlies 5. Pacers 6. Nuggets 7. Clippers 8. Suns 9. Cavaliers 10. Warriors 11. Timberwolves 12. Wizards 13. Bucks 14. Sixers 15. Bulls 16. Heat 17. Hornets 18. Magic 19. Kings 20. Nets 21. Jazz 22. Celtics 23. Trail Blazers 24. Bobcats 25. Lakers 26. Sonics 27. Knicks 28. Hawks 29. Rockets 30. Raptors Well, I guess me calling Memphis a "power team" a couple weeks ago isn't so out of line, eh? The Rockets have to be the biggest disappointment of the season, even with T-Mac hurt. Yao isn't bad, but he isn't as good as he should be.

I am still peeved Art Monk hasn't made it and it makes me even more mad that idiots like Peter King of SI actually say that Art Monk SHOULDN'T make the Hall of Fame despite holding the receptions record when he retired. The man held a positive NFL record when he left the game, if that isn't criteria enough I don't know what is. Sorry if I'm off subject, but it does get to me that Michael Irvin might get in before Art Monk.

the official who is on your ignore list thread
Dangerous A replied to Annabelle's topic in No Holds Barred
I have to be on a bunch of WWE folder regulars ignore lists because everytime I bring the goods, it gets ignored and they continue to come with the ignorance. -
It'll be interesting to see if they pull the trigger on HHH's chase for the title tonight or if they continue with the Flair program. Raw doesn't have a ppv until NYR, but that ppv is in early January and with the Elimination Chamber rumored to be the main event, they may go into hype mode for that or at least plant the seeds for it tonight. Who do you all think will be the six guys in the E. Chamber? My take... HHH Flair (y'know, cuz he bleeds a lot) Cena Angle HBK Kane or Big Show (won't be both because HBK HAS to figure into the match somehow)

Superman in IMAX could be the motherfucking shit. I'm there.
-
I saw GoF on IMAX as well and recommend it to any fans of the Potter movies. I'm wondering if Narnia and King Kong are slated for IMAX and if they would translate well in that environment?
-
I saw Just Friends and it wasn't bad. Not worth full admission and has the typical formulaic ending for a romantic comedy, but there was enough funny high spots from both Ryan Reynolds (he's basically the same guy from all his other movies, but I don't mind it) and Anna Farris that this wasn't a bad movie at all. Ryan Reynolds lip synching "I Swear" fucking killed me.

This doesn't look good. I am a lifelong Redskins fan and can't stand the Cowboys, but have come to like and respect some of the 'boys' who went on to broadcasting like Irvin, Aikman, and Emmitt. That said, I hope this isn't true because I have always thought Irvin was the exception and not the rule and that he truly did rehab himself. I hope this isn't true, but with his track record, I have a bad feeling he may have taken a step backwards.

From PWInsider (and joejigatame) Discuss. Besides the obvious like Jarrett does NOT equal ratings.
