I got 26/50 on that quiz, which is good for me considering I know very little about baseball. Got 9/10 on the Early Years part, and I had to guess on 4 of them so that was pretty damn good luck.

So why's he still here, again?
-
Well, Preissing is far from being a physical defenseman, but he can move the puck well and is a handy guy to have on your PP, as far as I know. Ottawa only had Havlat for 18 games last year, and they did fine without him. Not that I think this is a great trade for Ottawa or anything.

Good thing I have images turned off. I did that after the first time Czech did this, which I saw while I was eating. FUCK. YOU.

X The 2002 Red Wings are quite possibly the best team to win the Cup in the last 15 years. They could have had a fucking barrel playing net street hockey style and they would have still won the Cup. Osgood is the most overrated goaltender in the NHL. Khabibulin is inconsistant, but he at least was a good enough piece of the machine in Tampa. Osgood was along for the ride. Detroit had Hasek in net that year. The '98 Wings, who Osgood started for throughout the entire year, are no slouches either. Mike Vernon was the playoff starter for the 1997 champs.

True about Khabibulin (about him being inconsistent, not the worst goalie to win the Cup) but at least he's had some elite seasons. Osgood had some above-average seasons, but not nearly as good, and obviously was helped out by the Wings team. One number I don't see there is Save Percentage. His career best SVP (not including the lockout year) was .913, which is pretty good but not elite. It was very impressive of him to rebound strongly with the Blues in 03-04 after coming off a very horrible season, I'll give him that. At this point in his career, Osgood is a good backup, but he shouldn't be a starting goalie on a team that wants to contend.

Or something.

Rob Blake has signed with LA, according to TSN.

They totally half-assed it. What a joke.

Gary Roberts has requested a trade back to Toronto. Hmmm... http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/conten...c_nhl_0629.html

Dick Duff?! What the hell? Played for a lot of Cup winners in the Original Six (Toronto & Montreal dynasties) and never scored more than 53 points in a season.
-
He's a Hall of Very Good (who came up with that one again?) player, IMO.
-
NYankees would know.
-
Yeah, how'd you get to meet her?

Yay Communism!

I'm not sure. The article that I posted also mentions Dick Duff and Ralph Backstrom among the candidates, for some reason; these guys have been retired even longer than Vachon and based on their playing careers, have no chance of getting in. They were decent players but their standing in the league was comparable to a guy like Adam Graves, at best. I think Rogie Vachon might already be in the Hall by now if he played for a consistently good team throughout most of his career. He carried the LA Kings in the 1970's.

It was pretty obvious in the Sports folder.

Maybe Raycroft could turn it around yet, but I'm not very happy about them giving up Rask.
-
Well, the Leafs just traded one of the best goaltending prospects, Tukka Rask, for Jim Carey Jr. (Andrew Raycroft). Way to go, you idiots!
