Leafs stay alive in the playoff race, defeating the Islanders in OT on a goal by Stajan. Sundin also got a goal as the man simply cannot be kept off the scoreboard lately. Atlanta also won, they have 87 points to the Leafs 86. Pretty interesting race for a playoff spot in the East. EDIT: Oh yeah, Montreal defeated Boston, so now they're at 93 points. They need 1 more point to clinch.

I am going nuts talking about the Vezina with some guy. He insists that a goalie has to play 41 games to qualify for Vezina voting, and I pointed out Kiprusoff from 2004 and he keeps insisting he wasn't qualified, even though he finished fuckin' 2nd/3rd in the voting! This came about after talking about Cristobal Huet and Tim Thomas. What is the qualifier anyway, does anyone here know? I always thought it was 25 games.

Funny how the Rangers have TWO candidates for the Hart trophy. Jagr will win it but Lundqvist will get a few votes too (he won't be within top three though). As for the Byng & Selke trophies, which nobody apparently cares about: BYNG: Pavel Datsyuk will win the Byng for sure, he currently has 84 points and only 18 PIM and stands out more than anyone else right now as a candidate for the trophy. SELKE: Who the hell is in the running for this one? I hope they don't give it to someone based on plus/minus. Brind'Amour is 35, turns 36 on August 9. I thought he was older, as well. This season has been a bit of a renaissance for him; he is scoring at almost a PPG for the first time in awhile and on his way to his first 30 goal season in 7 seasons; takes the top percentage of his team's faceoffs in the league, has 2nd best faceoff winning percentage in the league, and leads forwards in icetime. Just for the hell of it, I will include the top five for the latter three stats in this post:

Carnival - Closely resembles someone I once knew. Amusingly enough, I recently heard that guy came out of the closet too. The Czech Republic - the sig (especially quoting 'Every Breath You Take' by the Police) was the clincher. I really hated to choose on this one though. Hoff - Don't know much about CWM. Slayer - that guy who just makes a smart little quip and leaves. Zack Malibu - posted a nice pic of Kelly Clarkson. Don't know anything else about him or geniusmoment though. KOAB - I just like the name and abbreviation. kkktookmybabyaway - I'll never get tired of seeing him make fun of stupid hippie BS. Niskie - Likes some gross shit but somehow it doesn't make me like him any less.
